Comments:3310 - TAKE HIM!!!!! He is actually the best. So easy, I literally have a 98 and know nothing about finance.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2024-04-23

Comments:FIN3310 - Okay here's the thing. FIN3310 is supposed to be an incredibly difficult course. However, Zurita makes it the easiest out of the professors given. He does not require attendance, nor does he grade your participation. All exams are online, and so is the final. He publishes Q&A's on Canvas and those are your #1 supporter for each midterm. His quizzes are also online. If you understand the Q&A and the PPTs then you are set for a B or above on each exam. TBH this class is set for you to get a B+ or above in, so I would recommend taking Zurita!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3310 - If you don't mind taking some time to learn out of class TAKE HIM. I personally loved the structure of his class. Quizzes are open note, and an easy 100. Tests are just like the quizzes and Q&A files he provides. He gives you all the resources you need to do well, you just need to take advantage of them. Very self taught class, but for my learning style it worked out great.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FIN 3310 - Zurita is truly the worst professor. He shows no interest in his students and is the worst lecturer I've ever had. As someone who is here at Baylor to learn, I would not recommend taking this professor. Choose a better option. HOWEVER!! THAT BEING SAID! His workload is very light. If you do the Q&A packets he provides, you should do fine on his quizzes. I just did bad on one and it held my grade down because he doesn't have many grades in the system. His tests are alright, you just have to teach yourself the material. But for your sanity, choose another professor.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2024-04-17

Comments:3310 - Haven't finished the class yet but want to help y'all out. Take Zurita if you want a dumb easy pass through this class. Finance can be an EXTRMELY hard class for people and really time consuming to learn the concepts. He gives no homework other than weekly online quizzes that are open for 48 hours (open note and he will help you) so there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't get a 100 on all of them. There's also 2 midterms and a final that are online at home, so you should also do well on those as they're basically exactly from the lecture. He also does not take attendance and provides very in-depth lectures that you can look at. Sure, he's very boring and super ethnic, but it honestly doesn't matter because you can use his PowerPoints on your own. Please dont listen to these other reviews, you will regret it because he changed the way he teaches this year which makes it is easiest pass possible to get through this class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3310 - Terrible teacher. I've taught myself every topic. Don't take if there are better options.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2023-04-26

Comments:3310 - Honestly, he isn't that bad. His teaching is quite dull but his slides have all the information you will need to teach yourself. He is a good guy and will try to help if you ask. Work load is not bad at all, tests are not bad if you do the Q&A's.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2022-05-11

Comments:3310 - Listen up bitches... do NOT take Zurita. His teaching method will put you to sleep. His lectures are extremely boring, he talks the entire class, and just reads off the slides and talks in circles. Once he spent 30 minutes on the title slide of a lecture. He's also always the last person to get into class and the first person to leave. Don't even bother emailing him because not only will he not respond, on the odd chance that he does, it will not be helpful at all. His exams are only 20 questions long and you have to show your work if you want credit. Also instead of giving students the entire 75 minutes for each exam, he reduces exam time to 60 minutes. The formula sheet he gives you doesn't include any of the formulas you actually need to solve the questions. The only thing that helps your grade are the 10 online quizzes. However they are only 5 questions so if you miss one then you get an 80 and he doesn't drop any of the quizzes at the end of the semester. These quizzes make up 30% of your grade. The final is also worth 30% of your grade and only has 30 questions on it. At the end of the semester he adds on a participation grade, but he doesn't have a seating chart and doesn't know any of his students' names. If you take Zurita, be prepared to teach yourself all of the material through his QA's and unorganized lecture slides.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:FIN 3310 - He is one of the most un-personable professors I have ever come across in my entire life. While he gives you all the information you need in PowerPoint form to be relatively successful on the exams, he makes it 10x more confusing explaining it than if you were to just skip class and teach yourself. In addition to that, don't even bother trying to contact him about anything. He won't answer. I don't know why he even puts his email or phone number on the syllabus if he intends to not answer. If you like professors who probably do not know a single one of their students names and just talks the ENTIRE time, go for it. Otherwise, take someone else if you can.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2022-05-02

Comments:FIN 3310 - Dr. Zurita is probably one of the worst professors I have had at Baylor so far. I understand the material is hard but I think he somehow makes it even more confusing. The class overall is structured in a way its very doable to make an A. However, this man does not know how to answer his emails at all. If you're looking for probably the most doable professor for this class I would take him, but don't expect to get any help from him as a professor because I basically taught myself this class. It is so obvious that he was brought to Baylor for research and is just teaching as well (he has said this before). One thing I HATED is that he was ALWAYS the last one to arrive at class and always the first one to leave. SO if you had any questions or confusion about topics or class structure, GOOD LUCK. You can tell he knows what he's talking about and I know he has a lot of experience in industry, but my god he cant teach for shit.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:3310 - He's not the hardest professor for this course but certainly not the easiest. His lectures are unbelievably boring and you end up teaching yourself. The way he explains things makes actually no sense. His practice quizzes are VERY accurate so that is what gets you through this class  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3310 - I had this class Spring of 2020, the Covid semester. I had a 92 going into the final and ended up bombing it. It was rough to say the least. Professor Zurita didn't email us for about a month before that. The weekly quizzes were sorta challenging and his teaching videos were hard to get through. You pretty much have to self-teach in this class if it's virtual. He was a little better in person prior to Covid, but only really cares about research at the end of the day. The first 2 tests are okay, class average is probably a mid-high B or so. Final is awful, study hard for it. The good thing is that day-to-day is easy with very little work!  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2021-03-24

Comments:3310 - This class was very easy in terms of the workload. The midterms were relatively easy, however the final exam was TERRIBLE. He provided very little time and changed the types of questions. When emailing him for help, his responses are very short and not helpful. He gives an attendance and participation grade but -- he only took attendance 4 times prior to COVID and did not know our names. I emailed him 4 or 5 times after the class went online to try to participate but still did not get full credit. The only reason I somewhat understood the material is because I am an accounting major.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2020-05-22

Comments:3310 - Barely learned anything during class--he basically just reads off the powerpoint. I attended every class (while we still had classes in person) EVEN THOUGH he didn't count attendance and somehow still got 80% on attendance and participation at the end of the semester??? Knocked my grade down more that expected.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2020-05-13

Comments:3310 - I think he is the best corporate finance teacher, it's just a really hard class. Grade breakdown is 20% Midterm 1, 20% Midterm 2, 20% made up of 10 online quizzes (Easy), 30% final exam, 10% Attendance and participation. To get participation points make sure you ask questions and go to his office. He will take a lot of points off if you don't. Make sure you keep up with the work, read the powerpoints even though there is no homework. He is approachable if you need help  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2020-05-10

Comments:3310 - This class is fine and is definitely the easiest of the corporate finance options. The only negative comment I had about the semester came at the end when he arbitrarily assigns points for attendance and participation, which are 10% of your grade. His syllabus outlines that to get full credit, you must be in class and actively participate in the lecture by asking questions, however, he never learns any of his student's names and does not take attendance so he has no way of knowing who participated or not. The day grades were due he finally entered the attendance and participation points and gave me a 7/10. When I asked why I did not receive full credit, he was very combative and stated that "I do not know why or how you were assigned those points." Overall, easy class but this grade for A&P caused me to get an A- rather than an A.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3310 - He is a great professor except his bad teaching ability. I learn this class by myself...over 93 is A...anyway, he is overall good.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3310 - Professor Zurita is an interesting man - I am writing this as we finish up the semester in this class. He is foreign, has lots of experience and is incredible smart, which explains why Baylor primarily hired him to conduct research so out school would receive a higher ranking. Nevertheless, he is a good teacher, and teaches a fair class. Prior ratings noted that the class was not fair... here is what has changed: 1.) Tests are now worth 20% of our grade, and the final is 30%. Participation is 10%, and online quizzes are 20%. I made a 97 on both exams, and am about to take the final. The quizzes are fair and you can make a 100 on them, but only get one shot (5 questions each). 2.) He gives these wonderful handouts and PowerPoints. If you stop paying attention in class (me right now), you can still read them and understand the concept. This is very useful when he has trouble explaining what he teaches (often just reads off of the PowerPoint). Furthermore, you receive Question and Answers which are practice exam questions, and he NOW provides detailed explanation for each question. Other things to keep note of: he does not teach you how to use a financial calculator. I learned to use one myself, and it was very helpful. I did not even have to use the formulas to solve, I just wrote them down so if I did get the wrong answer on his 20 question MC tests, he would give me 2 points partial credit for using the right formula. If you are an accounting major, use a HP-12C... we can use that on the CPA exam and it gives you good practice, even though it is harder to use than other financial calculators. Lastly, he is funny. Two jokes I wrote down... 1.) (he uses his Mac to present)... **his girlfriend texts him, and he says, I need to close messages. One time she texted me while I was presenting my research, and it was so embarrassing. Thank god it wasn't anything dirty.. I wouldn't want you guys to see that. 2.) I love teaching, but you guys are my favorite class (9:15am). MY 5:30pm class is like a cemetery and I would rather be dead too teaching at that time.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3310 - This is the best teacher for Corporate Finance by far. He gives online quizzes to help your grade. He responds quickly to any emails and there is no homework. The averages for my class for our first two tests were a 92 and an 86.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-04-06

Comments:3310 - **ONLY PAY ATTENTION TO MY POST** I say this bc it seems like Zurita has made the class a lot easier than it used to be. He gives you practice problems for every lecture & if you just do those, you'll make As on the tests. HE LITERALLY COPIES SOME OF THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS ONTO THE TESTS. He's also started giving quizzes that are super easy & worth 20%. Seriously, choose Zurita for FIN 3310!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-03-26

Comments:FIN 3310 - Mr. Zurita is very knowledgeable and does his best to be as available as possible in office hours. But you are pretty much on your own for learning the, often challenging, material of this course. The lectures are hard to follow, and it can be difficult to discern what is necessary and what is not. There is no homework for this course which sounds nice until you reach the first midterm and realize you have no idea what to expect. The tests are similar to the Q&As, but do not completely rely off of those questions. Best recommendation: go to as many SI sessions as possible and do the Q&As after every class. Do not put off the Q&As until a week before the test because you will not have nearly enough time to learn all the material.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2017-07-26

Comments:3310 - Professor Zurita's class is probably one of the easiest 3310 classes that Baylor has - if you don't have an issue teaching yourself a majority of the material. He assigns no homework and your grade is based 50% on your two midterms 40% on the final and 10% on class participation. He is really big on the quantitative aspect of finance. He doesn't spend much time on financial statements or anything of that sort but loves to derive equations and wants you to be able to solve for any variable in a given equation. If you understand algebra and how to rearrange an equation this will not be a problem for you. He gives out a list of optional questions that you can answer which is key to doing well on his test. If you can work out every single question and understand why then you will be good to go. Some of his test questions on the midterm aren't so straight forward and require a bit of thinking, but are definitely doable. He really is bad at teaching and lecturing though. In a class of 30 probably 2-3 people actually listened and took notes. He speaks to his computer and mumbles through his powerpoints so you will most likely have to spend some time outside of class reviewing the material. Overall the class is relatively easy with no workload but relies heavily on your exam grades. The exams are not too bad but do require you knowing how to rearrange any given equation to solve for a specific variable - and to show your work. He also curved our class by 3% so that was great.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3310 - Dr. Zurita is a man who knows and loves finance. As a whole, 3310 is known to be a pretty difficult class, but I think that this one\'s very manageable. If you print off the slides and follow along, you should be fine. You NEED to stay caught up on the Q&As leading up to the exams simply because studying a mass amount of information before is too overwhelming. If you stay caught up, you\'ll be fine. His powerpoint are also extremely helpful when studying, so don\'t be worried if you\'re overwhelmed during class because it moves too fast. There are two 20 point midterms and each are worth 25% of your grade, participation is worth 10%, and the final is 30 questions which is worth 40%. He does not test on anything outside of the powerpoints, and the Q&As are very reflective of what will be on the exams. Also, all exams are multiple choice, but you need to justify the qualitative ones by showing some work because he gives partial credit. He also added 3 extra points to our final overall grade for completing course evaluations, so that was a blessing. Honestly, I would definitely recommend him; he made finance less stress in comparison to other finance classes.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3310 - Went from having a 74 in the class all semester to finishing with an A after the second midterm and final. Print out the lecture notes and follow along during class. Do the (optional) Q&A problems either before he goes over them in class or during the lectures. Before the exams, go through the notes and problems again, study anything you don't remember, and you should be golden.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FIN 3310 - Very nice professor~ He adds three points on the total grade!!!  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2017-05-05

Comments:3310 - Pro Zurita teaches student real-life concepts like financial practices, investment strategies, and stocks. About grading: here are two examples: 1. half of the students never showed up to the class, but the average grade for participation is 91. 2. The average of our final is 89, which is 40 percent of our total grade. Moreover, we had 3 bonus points on the final grade for the course evaluation survey. On the exam, if you know the concept and equation(he gives you some and you need to memorize some), write it down and you can get 2/5 points. If you go to his office and review the exams, he will explain it to you and show you the specific solutions. About the class: he's not gonna ask you questions, so if you really want to learn, you better stay away from your laptop and cellphone. If you just want to meet the prerequisite requirement for some of your finance upper-level classes, TAKE HIM! There are no HW assaignments, but he does offer you after chapter questions which he selected from the book (he never uses the book; pdf slides are what you should study for) called Q&A. Exam study strategy: study the multiple choices part and all the computation part in Q&A, ignore the free response questions. Read the slides, emphasize the finance concepts, he ignores 90% of the accounting concpets. Be nice to foreign professors! He does speak proper English. Don't be scared about what you get on the first one and give up (try to write down random letter choice and equation to get partial points). Enjoy his lecture (cause you can do w/e you want)  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FIN3310 - Completely disregard the reviews below this one. These reviews were published before final grades came out. Zurita is far and away one of the best professors I've taken at the business school. He curved the living hell out of the final, added 3 points to everyone's final grade, and gave everyone a 90/100 on participation which is 10% of your grade. I took fletcher for FIN3310 last semester and I can say Zurita is far and away a better professor. The tests are a completely fair assessment of your knowledge on the course. If It was possible to take Zurita for all my finance classes I would. If you are looking for the most stress free path through FIN3310 I recommend Zurita. I guarantee you will not regret taking this professor.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2017-05-04

Comments:FIN 3310 - Tread Lightly. Only has 3 tests all year (Two midterms and a final). Final is 40% of the grade and second test is 15% and the week before finals. Tests are very difficult and you aren't given all of the formulas needed. Even if the problem can be done by calculator you have to write out the formula. He has no interest in students at all, right after class ends he packs his things and leaves immediately and is the first person out of the room.  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2017-05-02

Comments:FIN 3310 - ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TAKE HIM. The class grade consists of Midterm 1 (25%), Midterm 2 (25%), Final Exam (40%), and class participation (10%). Midterm 2 is on the last regular class day of the semester before finals. During the last week & a half of the semester 65% of your total grade is determined (Midterm 2 and Final Exam). Up to this point your grade only consists of Midterm 1 and class participation, so basically you have no idea what grade you will receive in the course until it is too late to do to anything. He gives everyone the same class participation of 9/10, regardless of if you ever asked a question in class, went to office hours, or even showed up to class (he does not take attendance). He shows zero concern towards his students. The class has about 30 people in it and someone of a completely different gender could take the exam for a student and he would have no clue that it wasn’t one of his students. Going to class is completely pointless. He posts his powerpoints on canvas and during class he reads them word-for-word, assuming you can even understand him despite his accent. The exams are ridiculously hard and the practice questions he posts are nothing like the exam questions. We pay way too much tuition to have a professor that is completely useless. He is a horrible professor and I truly believe that he and whomever hired him should both be fired.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2017-05-06

Comments:3310 - He is nice enough but his tests are insane. Nobody pays attention in his class because his lectures are useless. i wish he had homework because then you could actually have a test of how he grades because his exams are around 20 questions multiples choice but you still have to write out all of your work. He admits that he is only here because he wants to research which is dumb and wildly unhelpful.  - Grade In Class:C
