Comments:1420 - She's not a good teacher, don't take her.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2022-08-17

Comments:1420 - I feel like a lot of people that leave these reviews are exaggerating. She's really not that bad. The course itself is really difficult and she encourages students to read the textbook. Yes, sometimes the lectures are not super helpful for the content, but to be completely honest, I only felt that her lectures were useless when I did not do proper preparation before class. If you read the chapter at least a little bit before class, the lecture just helps reinforce understanding. If you don't read the chapter before class, the lecture just seems like a bunch of nonsense. Her grading scale is fair and she will address any discrepancies you bring up about your exams during office hours. The homework is significantly harder than the exams. If you can do the homework well and understand the concepts, the exams will be a piece of cake. Just take advantage of the whole textbook and every resource she offers, and you will do fine. Also, she loves tennis.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1403 - Endl is a total FRAUD! Every assignment and on Exams she would deduct points on purpose even if it was correct. She graded based on her liking which doesn't make any sense in a Physics class. Some of it even seemed discriminatory since she would help certain students over others who needed help too. She also didn't have a final exam. This sets a dangerous precedent of allowing professors to do whatever they want in their class without consequences. She should not be getting a promotion and a news interview for the poor teaching that she is doing. I would not recommend her for any class.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2022-08-09

Comments:1420 - Do not blow off the labs, they can boost your grade by a full letter grade. If you want to do well with Dr. Endl, plan out time to go to the grad student tutor desk. If you took AP physics and physics c mechanics you'll be fine for units 1-3 but will have to put a lot of work in for units 4-5. There are 5 exams (drop lowest) plus the final. The final is all conceptual which saved me.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2022-05-24

Comments:1430 - Please do yourself a favor and either take a different professor or wait to take physics. Worst teacher I've had so far. Her exams are terrible, and they all have the lowest averages I've seen on an exam. She doesn't care about her students and her lectures are incredibly boring. All the learning that you will do for this class will be done through the textbook. Doesn't answer questions for the homework and doesn't curve exams.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:PHY 1430 - DO. NOT. TAKE. HER. If you can, take Brinkerhoff, he offers consistent test corrections and is much more forgiving about them. Dr. Endl is a nice lady, but easily the worst professor I have ever had. You have to teach yourself entirely from the textbook if you even want a chance of passing. My class average for the first test was a 48%, and she did not curve and instead blamed us for not studying hard enough. She gives practically no partial credit, which is baffling considering it is calculus based physics. One arithmetic error and she will take off 75% of your points. She refuses to help with homework and instead forces you to post your question to a discussion board, which nobody responds on. Just a terrible class and completely unfair to the students. Take someone else or delay taking physics.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1408 - Regarding Dr.Endl, her course was rather sporadic and very difficult. When I first joined her class, I joined it later in the semester due to being waitlisted for another professor. However, rather than giving me information about the course or help because I joined late, she just told me to read the textbook and the syllabus on my own time. Even worse, she didn’t post her office hours and she gave me zeros for the first per class assignment. The class is also mainly self studying , since she teaches a chapter per day and gives out an exam once per two weeks, for a total of five exams. While she does give out partial credit for the exams, it isn’t much to change your grade. It wasn’t until the end of the semester when she finally posted her office hours. However, even then, there is a chance she isn’t even there. At the end of the semester, the day before the final, she posted a review for the final. In general, I don’t recommend taking her for physics and Nazarrio and Fier are probably better options for physics at Baylor.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1408 - First of all, don't take physics at Baylor. That was mistake number 1. Mistake number 2 was taking Endl. She's a nice lady but is not a nice professor. We had no partial credit, no curves (even though our averages were below passing), no extra credit *except for one worth 2 points which she grades so harshly that you might not even do it at all), no retakes (like the other professor has), and no office hours. Just don't do it.  - Grade In Class:D

Comments:1409 - Don't take this chick. This girl is a joke, save yourself  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2021-04-02

Comments:1409 - Do yourself a favor and don't take her. If she's your only choice, delay taking physics. She does not teach well, tests are extremely hard and unfair given how little she teaches, and an A is a 94. The test average for test 1 was a 62, and trust me, students were hauling ass. You will self teach this course and you definitely do not want to do that for Physics II. She is nice during office hours but that's it. I truly wish that Dr. Endl sits down and has a period of self-reaction to realize how ridiculous her course is.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2021-03-04

Comments:PHY 1409 - AVOID THIS COURSE AT ALL COSTS. I have had bad professors and I have had bad teachers and not a single one of them could even compare to Dr. Endl. She is the absolute worst professor I have ever had in my entire life. She is incredibly rude and condescending and genuinely would rather do ANYTHING ELSE other than help her students. She caps her office hours so if you need help and she doesn’t have room for you, then you’re not going to get help. The one time I was able to attend her office hours (on zoom) I spent an hour and a half in a waiting room. Then, once I got into her “office” I asked her one question that took ~5 minutes. She answered and then told me that’s all the time she had for me and locked me out of the room. I emailed her the first week of classes and she never responded. So, I emailed her two more separate times and I still didn’t get a response until the week AFTER our first exam. She gives ridiculously hard tests and doesn’t teach how to approach any problems. She curved one of our tests from a 60 average to a 63 average like that was a huge help. She would email us after tests and tell us to stop emailing her because she didn’t have time to email us back. She claims to give partial credit but I highly doubt she ever did. She truly wants to fail as many people as possible. Do not take her, quite literally take anyone else. Vasut is at least a very kind man and curves his test.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1408/1409 - Personally, I do not believe that Endl is good at teaching the material for this course. That being said, I went to most of the lectures for 1408 (in-person first half of semester) and ended up getting an A in the class. For 1409 (which is definitely more difficult content-wise), I did not attend a single online lecture and will end up with an A- or B+. How to do well in this course: USE THE TEXTBOOK. Fill out the pre-class assignment, but pay more attention to the sample calculations in the textbook and the misconceptual questions. A third of the tests are misconceptual questions and the other part is based on calculations. COVID definitely made this course more difficult for the tests because the answers are free-response instead of multiple choice. But the online course load was mostly the same as in-person besides the exams. I never attended the office hours, but I am sure that those would be helpful for the homework problems.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2020-11-30

Comments:1409 - I think that Dr. Endl was the best choice. I took her Spring 2020 when COVID-19 struck. I believe that pre-COVID-19 she was so helpful in office hours. She helped me with MCAT questions and her exams were straightforward as long as you study through the textbook. The only thing that sucks about this class was you cannot miss any questions on her all multiple choice exams because she does not curve. However if you show your work, she does give partial credit. I heard she got a little harder but there was a lot of BS happening. I still think she is a great choice for Physics. Nobody is good in the department but I think she is the best option because I felt like I learned and did well!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:PHY 1409 - Absolutely the worst professor I have had at Baylor and Ive taken many science courses like Ochem and genetics and she still is the worst. She doesn't know how to teach and is very rude. I had her through the COVID era where it was online which makes this course harder already. Don't plant on having technical difficulties if you take her online cause shoe doesn't care AND WONT BE HELPFUL. I taught myself everything and wouldnt have passed just from watching her lecture or reading the book. Her exams are stupid and the only thing helpful in her class is that she gives a formula sheet. Dont take her if you want to learn/get a good grade without teaching yourself.I think she should be fired.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-10-16

Comments:PHY1408 - Physics is a tough course in general, but having Endl as your professor is going to make the journey very rough and unpleasant. She likes to have a laugh in class and seems to chill during lectures. She is also quite available for office hours and always encourages students to come to her for help. Her workload is also very manageable - not at all a lot, I'd say, in terms of assigned homework. It's a different story when it comes to having to self-study because of her lack of teaching ability. She's clearly passionate about physics and want you to be engaged in class. However, there are many things that I absolutely do not like about her. 1. She cannot teach At first I thought I was just dumb and incapable of comprehending physics in general, but after taking a LOT of time to go through the text book and understand each formula and concept, I realized that Dr. Endl simply failed to break down complicated concepts of physics. She has the tendency to assume what makes sense to her makes sense to the listener and it's difficult to approach her as she makes you feel dumb. I absolutely learned nothing in her class: She will talk about the formulas, jump into a complicated Tier III problem, write out the formula and work through it WITHOUT PLUGGING IN ANY NUMBERS and assume you can follow along with 8 different variables on the board. Not the best way to teach physics if you ask me. 2. She is unpleasant and comes across as condescending My first impression of her was a sweet, fun-loving lady who'd be approachable, but after a couple of interactions with her, I quickly realized she was a very different person outside class. I went to ask her questions about some problems on Mastering Physics I did not understand, and again, she worked out the problem on a paper without using any numbers -only variables. I was lost in the middle, and she sighed. She sighed in my face and continued to explain with a very "why do you not understand this" attitude which I shocked me and also made me feel dumb. The most shocking thing I've experienced as her student has to be in her email response. I emailed her 2 or 3 times about some physics concept-she never replied to any of them. One day, I had another question regarding the exam, so I tried emailing her again, and this time, she replied but was the following quote: "Do you not remember what I said in class? Do you need to know any formulas for the exam? Best regards, Barbara" Even over email, she was very rude, patronizing, and not helpful. Rather than respond with a "yes" or "no," she went out of her way to respond in such a condescending manner that absolutely shocked me and all my friends that read the email. The exams in general are not difficult. The problem is that she does not teach and therefore you do not know basic concepts that would help you actually solve problems on the exam. I'd say that if you're somewhat comfortable with physics, capable of self studying, and able to get easy A's with her exams, you can consider taking her. If you have zero physics background, hate math, not the best self-study person, I recommend you avoid her. My semester was miserable because of her class. TLDR; she's one of the worst professors I've ever had and interacted with and she's rude and condescending outside class. Don't take her.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1409 - Personally, I think that Dr. Endl should have a higher BUBooks rating on here. I don't really understand why she has such a low rating. Dr. Endl is super friendly and was always willing to help us in class. She is clearly very passionate about what she does, which makes studying physics a little bit more enjoyable. Her tests were incredibly easy and were made up of half conceptual and half math problems. The math problems that she had on our tests were pretty much plug and chug, so honestly you could just study the bare minimum for this class and still get an A. There were never any tricks or anything like that on her exams, and she also gave an extra credit question for each exam. In terms of actual teaching ability, I would say that she isn't really the best? Sometimes it is difficult to follow what she is saying, not because of her accent, but I felt like she over-explained some concepts, which made some parts more difficult than others. I ended up doing most of my learning off of YouTube. Another thing I didn't like was that the practice problems that she chose to do in class were no where near the same difficulty that we would see on the tests, and this is also the same for Mastering. However, overall, I would still highly recommend taking Endl because it is probably the easiest A you could probably get for Physics 2.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1408 - I really don't understand how Dr. Endl has such a bad BU books grade. She is one of the sweetest and most helpful professors I have ever had. Ignore the reviews that say to run. It's a physics class and it's going to take some time-management and effort to pass the class. But that being said, Dr. Endl is definitely the best option for Physics 1408. She's incredibly sweet and funny and wants her students to do well. She told us during the first week of classes that if we are stuck on a homework problem to email her a picture of the problem/our work, and she'll email us back asap to help us with the problem. What other prof would do that for their students?? Our grade consists of four exams, a final, online homework, and the lab grade. The exams are 15 problems and multiple choice. However, she goes through the exams and gives some points back if you have correct work written down but got the wrong answer. Most of the problems are similar to book problems. I found the best way to study was to read through the chapter and do the example problems, then do most of the problems at the end of each chapter for practice. It does take a ton of time, but if you do that you'll definitely be prepared for the tests. There are no surprises and no tricks on her tests.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PHY 1409 - Dr. Endl is the best physics professor at Baylor. She cares so much about her students, and she doesn't make it more difficult than it has to be. Physics is a really hard class no matter who you have, but she makes the subject comprehensible. She is in her office ready to help you all the time, and if you take the time to pay attention in class, it will help a lot. The exam questions are a lot like the level 1 and 2 questions in the book, so if you work really hard, an A is totally attainable. If you go to class, you can do a fun extra credit assignment at the end of the semester that really boosts your grade. TAKE DR. ENDL!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PHY 3350 - Dr. Endl is one of the best physics professors I've had! She truly cares about each student in her class, and is very passionate about her subject material. Physics can be a challenging subject, but she is always willing to help students understand the material. As an aside, she called me Kevin the whole time, 10/10.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2019-04-15

Comments:Phys 1408 - I've heard people say physics is hard no matter who you take, and that is probably true. Dr. Endl is really nice, but I had absolutely no idea what was going on in the class, even though I would practice almost everyday. The homework problems are hard. The tests seem random, I don't know her logic in picking test problems. She does give you an equations sheet, which is extremely useful. The raw averages on tests will be in the 60s range, but she usually gives a slight curve. I didn't want to risk failing to lower my GPA, so I will be retaking it with a different professor.  - Grade In Class:DROP

Comments:1408 - Dr. Endl is absolutely amazing! If you can take her, DO IT! Physics is a hard class no matter who the professor is, but Dr. Endl uses engaging examples and makes herself very available to answer questions. She has been one of the most helpful and pleasant professors I have had at Baylor! I had to work very hard to get an A, but she encouraged me and worked problems with me as much as I needed. She is a gem!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PHY 1408 & 1409 - She is amazing! She is most definitely the easiest physics professor at Baylor and she is very sweet. She always tries to make the class interesting and she tries to help you truly understand the material during office hours. Get to know her because she is amazing and does not like to give free response questions for exams. Overall the subject is difficult but she does her best to assist you in understanding the materials covered in class and the exams.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:PSY 1455 - She is awful. Lectures are a waste of everyone’s time. Tests are nothing like the review she gives us. She doesn’t understand that it’s for non-science majors. It’s suppose to be an easy A but the average on the tests is barely passing. Take anybody else  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1455 - Heed the advice of those before me. She is one of the worst professors I've had at Baylor. DO NOT TAKE HER!  - Grade In Class:DROP

Date: 2017-12-05

Comments:1301 - This class was terrible. Professor Endl teaches this class like its for science majors. The mastering homework is pointless because what's on the homework is not on the exam (especially the math portion where we get no help on how to solve). The lectures are super long and dull (again almost like she's teaching a 3000 level class). When it comes to exams, Professor Endl will give us a "review" that does not help for the exam. The exams are so difficult and you will leave the room not feeling confident at all. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU WANT AN EASY WAY OUT.  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2017-11-30

Comments:1455 - This course had the reputation of being the easiest lab science, that is until she took over. Lets start with the homework. She assigns the homework online. She picks the hardest questions she can. Half of them are math questions with absolutely no context on how to solve them. Most of the questions on the homework aren't on the exam, so there's really no point in assigning them. It's just hours of hard, unnecessary busywork. The lectures are long and unnecessarily detailed for an introductory course. You can stand outside the door after an exam and every single person walking out of the room will say that they failed and that was one of the hardest exams they've ever taken. It doesn't matter how many flashcards you make, how many times you go over the slides, how many times you reread the textbook, it is almost impossible to do well on her exams. Many of the questions have nothing to do with anything she's taught. The only reason I'm able to get a B is because of the lab. Avoid her at all costs.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2017-11-30

Comments:1455 - This class is impossible. She posts a study guide and the lectures online but then the exams aren't even relevant to what is taught. I literally don't know how to study for her at this point because even if I study all the material on the study guide it won't help. I studied like 15+ hours for an exam and my friend who didn't even study did better than me...because her guessing skills are better. Literally everyone does terrible. I'm having a mental breakdown right now because the 4th exam is in two days and I just don't know how to study for it. I'm trying so hard in this class but I'll be lucky if I get a B-. There's no way to prepare for an exam.   - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2017-11-29

Comments:1455 - She is a horrible teacher lectures are super boring none of the info she teaches is relevant. Homework is very challenging and she doesn't give clear instructions. I have emailed her on 3 different occasions and never got a response. Her test are fairly hard, all multiple choice, but they have large curves. All in all the class isn't too hard but you have to teach yourself all of the information. If you study really hard a B or an A is manageable but it won't be fun to do it. I would highly recommend not taking her if there are any other options.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2017-11-15

Comments:1455 - It was an interesting class and she's very sweet, but lots of work! Dr. Endl is super cute and she's definitely interested in the topic. Her exams are very difficult, and the online homework is very important to help pad your grade. She does curve the exams but they still don't help others. I'm not sure, but she may give preference to those who attend her class. They are very difficult to follow, but going to the lectures is essential to the class. You will need to read the book and take really good notes to pass the exams, because she uses both for them. She does drop the lowest exam (excluding the final) but you'll need it. I would avoid taking her if you want an easy class. The lab component is a piece of cake (its the easiest lab I've taken here at Baylor), and luckily it will factor into your grade.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2017-11-10

Comments:ASTRONOMY - Please don't do it, take anyone else here. She is a terrible professor and not that nice to people who visit in office hours. She curves but even with it it is nearly impossible to do well and you will somehow leave having learned nothing. Don't do it.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2017-10-20

Comments:1455 - Don\'t take this class and expect an easy A... Apparently this used to be a really easy lab science \"for non-science majors\" (that\'s literally what the course description is) ... but now you really have to work for a good grade. Labs are relatively simple, but SO time consuming, lectures have almost nothing to do with the material on the tests, online homework ridiculously difficult at times (but if you buy the textbook, you can find most of the math answers in there + the majority of the other questions can be found on quizlet)... She curves like crazy because everyone does terrible on the tests. She provides \"study guides\" for the exams that are so broad and unspecific, but pro tip: study quizlet sets online from Russell\'s classes for the first exam (you probably won\'t do incredibly well, but it\'s your best bet) and after the first test (you get to take home the exam after you take it), look up the questions online, find quizlets with questions over the upcoming chapters and study those. That is literally how I\'ve learned everything in this class, and have done decent on the exams. You really do need to put in effort to get the grade you want.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2017-12-10

Comments:ASTRONOMY - She is very hard to understand. There is not a lot of homework, however her test are very hard. She gives out a "study guide", but does not actually put ANY of that on the test. Quizlet will be a lifesaver. Labs are easy, but take up the entire lab time. This is NOT an easy course anymore.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Astronomy - Nice lady, AWFUL professor. Gives us ridiculous amounts of mastering astronomy homework full of math and formulas that she doesn't teach us and then tests us on something else. She blows through the slides and doesn't bother to explain anything during class, and her tests are ridiculously hard. If you are a humanities major like myself, don't make the same mistake I did and sign up for this nightmare of a class. Take geology or environmental science instead, just not this class. It is stupid difficult for a non-major class and it will probably cause my GPA to plummet. This is not a class that I should even be worrying about but thanks to Endl's horrible teaching, here I am.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1408 - Ok, sweet woman, terrible teacher. She gives one hell of a curve but you will learn nothing, and honestly her mastering is freaking hard. She picks the hardest problems, and her tests are nothing like the mastering. The average one one test was a 22... she had to curve by like 60 points. But god it was misery, I don't know who else to take, but don't postpone your mastering, even if you have a chegg, they are long and hard. Just don't do it.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2017-05-12

Comments:1408 - Endl is an okay choice to take 1408 with--you could take a better professor, but you could also be stuck with a much worse professor as well. She speeds through practice problems during class, so you will need to teach and understand the math/working-problems portion on your own. She is good with teaching conceptual material, however, and she relates it to a lot of real world events. Her tests were extremely fair, and usually had a 5-15 point curve. She took her questions from a large test bank from the Giancoli physics book, so doing the practice problems at the end of each chapter (just the level 1 and level 2 problems) helps a lot. Do the extra credit. It bumped me nearly 4 percentage points (86-->89.7, which she rounded up to an A). You will be tempted to not attend class, but trust me, you get more from going to her lectures than you think. As a person, she is very lovely and kind and always willing to help with questions about Mastering, the universe, or life in general.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2017-05-11

Comments:1408 - I don't understand why she's getting hate on here. She's such a sweet lady who is passionate about physics which made a very big first impression on me. Yeah, the tests were hard, but they are curved like 30 points so if you go in with some conceptual understanding of the subject, you will do fine. She gave out random one question quizzes during class to test your understanding of the lecture but they were only worth like 5% of the entire grade. I got a B in the class because I didn't do well on the first exam but her class is very doable. She has a very warm heart and a very good person overall.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1408 - Ok she seems like a very nice woman, but she is a mediocre to terrible professor, she gives 1 question quizzes that are multiple choice and she will not drop any of them, she makes mastering impossible, picking the hardest problems, and then only makes them worth 10%. She has such tough tests she curves 50 points, but the quizzes bring your grade down so much, I had a B test average thanks to the curve, i had a 30 quiz average so i ended up getting a C- and now have to retake, do not recommend. Took mattingly the next semester and got an A with no effort, take him instead   - Grade In Class:D
