Comments:1310 - 10/10 highly recommend! Dr Burnett is a very nice guy that loves teaching, and the class had a very manageable workload. There are open textbook online quizzes every week, and he drops your (5?) lowest quiz grades. Kyle, a grad student, holds test reviews that are extremely helpful, and he does a great job of answering any questions you have about the test material. There isn't any hw or extra readings that you have to do, and this class was a breath of fresh air compared to my other more time consuming classes.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Cristian Scriptures - If you want a course you don't have to try in, don't take Dr.Burnett. His tests are hard; his lectures are boring (He puts everyone to sleep every class) He put a bathroom rule on my class because people kept leaving to try and wake up. If you like religion and enjoy learning the history of the bible, then take him. If you're an average student who is only taking this course because you have to, I would stay far, far away from this professor. He had a cool TA though.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1310 - Dr Burnett was a great teacher; he and Kyle ( a seminary grad student ), made the class easy and stress free. Kyle would hold test reviews before the test, and he would give us a clear guide on what material we needed to study. The tests were all multiple choice with an added bonus question at the end. As far as the workload, we had reading quizzes every week; they were open textbook, so they were very easy. Overall, I had a great experience in this class, and I highly recommend Dr Burnett for Christian Scriptures.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - Professor Burnet is just the sweetest man! I could always tell how passionate he was about scripture which made me want to develop the same enthusiasm. He is so knowledgeable and cares about his students. His exams are over his lectures, so if you take good notes you should be fine. He is pretty strict over attendance and his phone policy, but if you follow his rules the class will be very easy going!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:REL 3308 - I took Dr. Burnett for Pentateuch. I honestly don't know why his ratings are so low. He is a great teacher, great man, and a phenomenal scholar in Old Testament studies! This class was not hard because all you had to do every week was do some reading and then post a quick reading response to anything you liked or found interesting or something like that. He is very passionate about what he teaches and feels a call to it because he loves the LORD and studying the Word of God. In this class, you go through the Pentateuch (first five books of the Bible) and their composition and history. For most of our tests, he would give us some identifications and an essay to write based on a prompt, but he gives you the essay prompt beforehand, and for some of our tests, he allowed us to bring in a notecard with our outline on it, which made studying so much easier! Take him if you want a good religion elective in Old Testament studies!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:REL 1310 ONLINE - Take this over the summer online, and it is a pretty easy A. He is BORING, and the class is draining, but I can only imagine how much better it is online. Quizzes are open note/book, and the lowest 5 are dropped. Discussion boards are an easy way to boost the grade. Only 4 exams. I will say he never responded to my emails for office hours tho.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - This class should not have been this hard. Dr. Burnett is a nice guy and definitely cares about students, but his lectures are dry as the desert. The quizzes are straightforward if you do the reading, but they are timed which is sometimes really frustrating. The tests are unbelievably difficult. Study every word Dr Burnett says in lecture and remember everything if you want to do well on the exams. The in class discussions will certainly help boost your grade, but you’re honestly probably better off taking someone else.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:13010 - Burnett is a sweet guy who clearly cares about his course. HOWEVER, his tests feel impossible to get an A on no matter how much you study. The quizzes are easy if you do the reading. There is a lot of in-class participation  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1310 - Burnett is pretty straightforward. His TA is great. The quizzes are almost completely based on the daily readings so as long as you read the scriptures and the ECS required readings (esp. those textboxes), you should do well. The exams are focused almost 100% on his lectures (which are pretty dry) and the scripture readings. I had an A+ the entire term until I took the final. Not sure where half those questions came from but I ended up with an 89. Learn from my mistakes, study, study, study for that final exam even more than you think you should.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1310 - Let me preface this by saying that I took Burnett's Scriptures class over the COVID summer semester. Dr. Burnett's Christian Scriptures class was amazing. His lectures are incredibly dry but almost everything that comes up on the tests is covered in the lecture. If Burnett says it in lecture, count on it coming up on an exam. If something is covered in both lecture and reading, I guarantee it will be on the test. A really small proportion of the questions on the test came from the readings. The reading quizzes were not incredibly difficult as long as you did the reading and listened to the lecture. Don't go to class? You won't pass.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - Dr. Burnette is a really nice guy. his scriptures class is unbearably hard. the work load is so heavy I barely have time to get anything done in all my other classes. he takes attendance very seriously. if you don't have your bible in class you will be counted absent. the daily reading, quizzes and reading questions are designed to make you fail. this class killed my GPA. unless you have to, I would recommend NOT taking this course.  - Grade In Class:F

Comments:1310 - Loved this class!! Though his lectures can be kind of dry at times, he really does lecture over what the tests will be on. Nothing directly from the readings will be on the tests (unless in was in lecture). He also lets the TA lecture sometimes which is SUPER SUPER fun. The review classes right before a test are amazingly helpful too. The quizzes are online after each homework and are only 10 questions - pretty simple. Definitely take him.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - Not a hard class, I did most of my studying on quizlet the day before exams and never scored below an A. Just don't skip out on the quizzes and reading assignments. Test material is from lectures and not reading, so just pay attention in class and you'll be fine. Taking two separate tests during the final kind of sucked, but it was manageable. The class sometimes seemed to drag on, but Dr. Burnett presented all the material well.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - Excellent professor. He really knows his stuff and translates it into class very well. Online quizzes can be tricky but besides that, I never made below a 98 on the test. Study and you good  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - He's not that hard. His tests are word for word what he goes over in class, so either take good notes or get someone else's. Also, his test are basically just on quizlet. The only bad thing is he gives quizzes before every class but they are only open for 24 hours so you can't get ahead.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - He's a very consistent professor, the workload isn't awful, a 10-question quiz and 3-5 reading questions[usually 3] for every class. He wears cool ties sometimes. I would reccommend.   - Grade In Class:A
