*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:4360 - Wu is a great professor. The class is structured by homework, quizzes, and exams. A group project at the end of the course as well. The problems are the same from lectures to homework to quizzes to tests. You know exactly what you are going to get, and it is up to you to prepare. The class is predictable you just have to put in the time and effort and you will do well. I think you could spend 4 hours a week outside of class and be successful. I would definitely take Wu again. Breaks down topics well and conducts her class well. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:FIN 3310 - If you find yourself having to take that mandatory Intro to Corporate Finance class (especially for Finance majors), Wu is your go-to professor, hands down. I honestly think she deserves a way better rating on BuBook than she currently has. Wu has this genuine care for her students that sets her apart from other professors teaching the same courses. Finance is no walk in the park, but Wu's got your back if you're ready to put in the effort. In her PowerPoint lectures, she breaks down concepts and solves problems with crystal-clear explanations. There is not much homework, but the homework is easy 100s. The two 25 multiple-choice tests were reasonable, and if you grind through those PowerPoints, you're golden for the exams. Same with the cumulative 35 questions Final exam. She adjusts test weights based on your performance, and you get 7 quizzes with 2 drops. But don't slack on the quizzes—they're like little previews for the big exams. The only tweaks I wished for are a more forgiving grading scale (A at 93 instead of the usual 90 in other similarly difficult courses) and maybe a few more office hours. With that being said, you can get the grade you want by doing the following: show up, take notes, ask questions, and hit those PPTs when you're prepping for quizzes and tests. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3310 - A lovely professor who doesn't try to trick students on tests. Everything on the tests is fair, she is gracious about spacing out assignments (there aren't many), and she often extends deadlines. I love how thorough her lectures are, and every class period, she does a little review just to make sure no one is lost. She's super sweet too - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:3310 - She is super sweet and deserves a better rating. The class is going to be hard no matter what. She provides slides and examples to help you. 7 Quizzes 2 get dropped. They are off her slides. They are kinda hard ngl but depends how much you study. Exams are eh I get like an 80 on them. Go to all the SIs they help a lot. She cares for her students and is even giving us extra credit. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:FIN 3310 - Professor Wu is so much better than her rating. She is extremely invested in her student's success and is always available. The class is somewhat hard no matter who you take, but she is very accommodating. One recommendation would be to take notes in class. There isn't too much homework, so paying attention in class is pretty vital. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:FIN 3310 - Dr.Wu is single-handedly my favorite professor I have had thus far at Baylor. She care so deeply for her students, helping us in any way possible if we are struggling in the subject matter, or even outside of class things. She keeps our spirits up in class and allows many opportunities to learn in different ways and bring exam grades up because she truly understands this is the hardest class most of us have taken this far. You can really see as her student, that she cares about you and is willing to meet you right where you are and walk with you through the semester. Lecture heavy class (like all finance and accounting classes), with many materials to help you understand the material. Super organized and amazing TA. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:Fin 3310 - Dr. Wu is probably the best professor I have had at Baylor. I cannot say enough good things about her. Not only is she very knowledgeable on the topics, but she is able to clearly teach and explain the concepts to make it understandable. Her teaching and lessons are clear and thought out, and it really makes a difference. There is no getting around it being a harder class, but she is fair in her grading, as she drops the two lowest quizzes out of seven and will alter the grade distribution of the tests depending on if you do better on the final. The homework consists of reading MC comprehension questions and problem solving questions that she assigns on a weekly basis. She expects everyone to read the textbook, but personally, I never had to and still did fine with just her lectures and the homework assignments. However, I understood the concepts pretty well, so if you find yourself struggling more, I would read the textbook like she suggests. This is one of those classes where your brain will occasionally hurt after the class period is over, but that's the content, not the professor, and as long as you work on it and familiarize yourself with the concepts throughout the week, you will be fine. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:FIN 3310 - Take Dr. Wu for 3310. She is incredibly kind, understanding, and an overall amazing professor. In this class, there is HW but it's fairly minimal and you receive a lot of time to complete it. There are a few quizzes that add up to a test grade, and two of them get dropped, but try your best on each and every single one of them. The tests and quizzes correlate to the PowerPoint presentations. Practice the questions on the slides, and understand the content on them. This means going to class is an absolute must, because trying to look at the slides on your own without her lecture is not as simple as it seems. If there is SI available, go to SI. It will be crucial to your success and the practice you will receive in SI will help you in the class immensely. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3310 - Dr. Wu is one of the most caring professors you'll meet at Baylor. She truly cares about her students. No matter who you take, this class will be pretty challenging. There are two tests (20%, lower one will be worth 15% at end of semester if you score higher on the final) and a final (worth 30%, possibly 35% if you perform better than your lowest test grade), along with 7 quizzes (20%, lowest 2 get dropped). To be successful in this class, go to every single SI session, do the SI worksheets, and know all of the information/practice problems on all of the Lecture Slides. It is also crucial to do well on the quizzes (worth a test grade at the end of the semester). I really enjoyed this class and would highly recommend Dr. Wu to anyone. She is such a strong Christian and includes her faith into her lectures, which is really cool and inspiring. Take Wu if you can! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3310 - Took this class in Spring 2021 and from what I've heard it was a larger class than she usually has. That being said, it was very difficult to understand her and her method of teaching. She is very scattered when it comes to teaching the information and I felt like she overcomplicated some concepts which made things more difficult later on. Many (incredibly smart) people struggled in this class. Dr. Wu is a very sweet lady, but the class was a tough one. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:FIN 3310 - This class is hard no matter who you take. However, Professor Wu is very sweet and genuinely wants her students to succeed. I personally struggled quite a bit with the material and she was very helpful and available for me to ask for clarifications. Advice for this class: READ THE TEXTBOOK. There are not many assignments for her class and the quizzes/tests can be challenging, so you want to get as familiar with the concepts as possible. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:FIN 3310 - No way around it this course is hard. However, Wu is a very kind hearted lady who wants to see each and every one of her students succeed and she listens to feedback on the quizzes and test and if they should be any easier or even postponed. The homework is time consuming but you should get an A on that part, she drops 2/7 quizzes, and there are two tests and a final which are doable if you study lots. I got decent Bs on both. It kind of sucked she did not have an SI my semester because that wouldve been super helpful. Her office hours were one of the only downsides because they were at 8am once a week. I would definitely take Wu if you can she has pushed me to learn a lot about finance and makes me excited for the subject going forward. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:3310 - This class is hard no matter who you take. There is no “easy A” teacher. This class is intentionally made as a weed-out class for finance majors and is therefore one of the most difficult you will take at Baylor. That being said, Dr. Wu is incredible. She truly wants her students to do well and will make sure they do well if they are willing to put in the work. If you really want an A, Dr. Wu will help you get there. Also, no matter what you think of her teaching ability, her character is not up for debate. She is one of those professors who you will remember years after you graduate for being so great. She wants you to succeed and will go the extra mile to help you get there. I would 100% recommend Dr. Wu as a teacher and a person to anyone! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:FIN 3310 - let's be real. This class is not easy. You will have to study everyday if you want to be successful. Wu is a great teacher if you are willing to put in the effort up front. Do not put off studying for the quizzes...treat them like tests because they are so few questions but worth a large portion of your grade. I recommend studying in groups and asking each other questions. I have learned the most in this class than any other course at Baylor and will identify if you actually want to be a Finance major. Take her if you want a great foundation in finance! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3310 - She is so intelligent and the nicest lady. Sometimes it is a bit difficult to follow what she is teaching but if you go into office hours she is more than willing to help you. The quizzes, I thought, were the tricks part of the entire class. homework is an easy 100 with unlimited attempts. SI is really helpful too. Our class was also curved. I would overall suggest taking her - Grade In Class:B
Comments:3310 - Dr. Wu is an Intelligent women who care her students a lot. Although 95 is an A, you still have a chance to get it. Her Powerpoint Slides are very helpful. Reviewing all online homework and lecture before exams and quizzes, you will be fine. She will drop 2 lowest quizzes and give bonus points for exams and quizzes. TAKE HER if you can. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3310 - Take Wu! Her class has little workload for a Finance class. The key to success in this class is doing well on the tests. The first test is easy so do well on it and do what you can with the second (still not that bad). The quizzes were rough but she did drop two. Only thing that sucks is that an A is a 95. Wu is a very reasonable and good hearted person which is reason enough to take her. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3310 - Dr. Wu is a very genuine and intelligent woman. She truly cares if you succeed in her class, she's reliant on her faith which shows sometimes in her lectures. Her exams are very fair. Nothing trying to trick you, she provides excellent powerpoint slides and even gives supplemental materials online and a handout the class before the test. I have several friends who got an A this semester. She will always help you in her office and even though she has a slight accent, it's very clear to understand what she's saying. Overall, Wu's quizzes, exams, and homework are all manageable, just study powerpoints and do your due diligence. Great professor. Nice addition to Baylor's Finance department - Grade In Class:B
Comments:3310 - Dr. Wu was a new professor this year and I was really concerned about being in her class. She's a really sweet person and honestly a pretty good professor to have for finance. You have 6 quizzes which are sometimes tricky but everyone does decently well, and she drops your lowest. You have 2 tests and a final. The tests are all MC and if you put in the time to do all the practice problems from the powerpoint and the ones she posts, you'll do fine. If you know the method to solving problems, you'll be fine. She does have kind of a thick accent which makes it hard sometimes to understand her, but it's definitely bearable. Also, an A for her class is a 95 which is just absurd especially for finance. Overall I would definitely recommend her for anyone worried about taking finance! - Grade In Class:A
