Comments:3381 - Great professor, I took his online class and really enjoyed it. You do have to put in some effort to memorize the material a few days before the exam, but it is not bad at all. I mainly just made quizlets and practiced.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CLA 3381 - Dr. Hackworth is amazing! Pearson teaches you everything you need to know to get an A, but Dr. Hackworth's recorded lectures offer context to language evolution, which is really interesting (and makes sense, because this is a classics course, not pre-med/PHP). I enjoyed this class a lot. It didn't take a ton of time to do any of the work. I agree with what someone else said about making quizlets and just memorizing terms -- if you do that a few days before, you'll get high As on all the exams.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3381 - this class wasn't bad- he gives games to help you learn and lots of videos for help too. got all the work done for the week in like an hour.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3381 - There's a bit of workload for this class, but I'm really glad I took the online version of this class because it was so much easier. Dr. Hackworth assigns about a chapter a week, but it's very doable. The exams cover about 6 chapters (and there are about 3 exams), and there was no final. I would definitely recommend making quizlets for each chapter to study for the exams and you'll make an A. Super easy and straightforward class. Everything is in the textbook, and there are no outside assignments besides the chapters he assigns each week.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:3381 - Dr. Hackworth's online medical terminology class should be an easy A for most students. He assigns a chapter every week or so, and once you get acclimated to the class you can knock out all of the assignments for the chapter in about 30 minutes. You also have to watch his lecture videos for the participation grade, but they honestly have very little to do with the assignments so you can still get an A without really paying attention the lectures. There are 3 exams that cover about 6 chapters each, so they do cover a lot of material each. Honestly, the best way to take this class is to make a quizlet for each chapter and memorize those very well. If you can do that you'll get A's on all the exams. You'll also walk away with a fair bit more knowledge than you had before just based on the sheer amount of memorization required.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3381 - Online Medical Terminology with Dr. Hackworth was a very chill class! Only 3 exams and participation is worth 10%, so make sure you watch the lectures. They can be a little long but they're pretty interesting.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3380 - Professor Hackworth is one of the best professors I've had at Baylor so far. I know a lot of people don't enjoy his classes because of the amount of reading you are asked to complete. However, he is the only professor I've ever had (the only educator I've ever had) that forced me to become a thinker. Most classes you memorize the material and move on, the information they're giving you is really only relevant to that specific class and you aren't sure you'll even need it when you're done. Hackworth talks about greater concepts. He compares old works of mythology to newer ones and asks you to look deeper. He wants you to figure out what they mean, if they matter. We got to study materials such as Wonder Woman comics and video game backstories. There are weekly one page papers (he is super lenient in grading them) where he poses a concept that you've discussed throughout the week and asks you to defend your opinion on it. They were super fun to write! I absolutely loved his class. He wasn't even originally supposed to be teaching it, but he did an amazing job nonetheless. I wish I could think of better ways to convince other students to take his classes. He is an extremely intelligent individual and an amazing member of the geek squad. I left his class feeling like I had become a better scholar. 10/10 recommend to anyone who has the opportunity!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CLA 3380 - I'll be honest, it's not a bad class, it's simply that I left this class knowing even less than I did before?? Somehow??? He's kinda arrogant and I'll agree with a comment below that mentions him reading off paragraphs in Latin when in fact - none of the students sitting in the classroom knew Latin. He also gets into these "mini-rants" where he brags about how his class is so "weird" and "unique" and how no other class at Baylor will teach you the stuff he teaches you. Besides that, there's only one essay due every Sunday that literally takes maybe an hour (or less). I will say that the reading for this class is terribly long. I stopped doing the required readings during the second half of the semester because I couldn't keep up with them. Once he caught on that most of the class wasn't doing the readings any longer, he became really frustrated and sarcastic. This would be reasonable if he didn't assign around 200+ pages a night. There were eight books required for this class, and PDFs and videos online that were sometimes added to the daily readings. Not a bad class, not a bad professor, but I am definitely relieved that it's over. Take this class if you're interested in philosophy, want an easy A, and don't mind the daily "I'm so unique and weird" rants.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Med term - Dr. Hackworth is super funny, energetic, and provides a straight forward, organized, and easy class. There are quizzes every class period, but I am glad there were quizzes because it holds you accountable to learn the material gradually. Take him!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CLA 3390 - Pretty easy class for sure. There's readings, no quizzes, a one page double-spaced essay every Sunday, and attendance is part of your grade. The attendance he is lenient on though to a point and won't immediately take off points. Pretty laid back class in general but I wasn't the biggest fan of him. Kinda got to the point where I REALLY hated having to go to class and kinda got a big of a narcissist vibe from him. Did some weird stuff like read off whole paragraphs in Latin knowing we didn't know any Latin?? I never felt like I should speak up because if he didn't think what you say was important he would kind of just not respond or acknowledge what you said. Easy A if you go to class and write your essay with some thought though, so I can't say I wouldn't recommend him.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Classical Mythology - Dr. Hackworth for Mythology is a good choice. He's good during the lectures, they're usually about what the last reading was and he goes through and makes it detailed and fun. The only homework was reading and then every weekend a short 1-page response paper that didn't take long at all. Other than that no tests, just one group project that was actually fun and he gave class days to work on it. Overall, solid class, totally recommend it if its something you have any interest in.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3381 - Dr. Hackworth is great! Yes it is a tough class that requires a lot of studying, and yes he does talk about things that don't seem relevant in class, but he is BY FAR the easiest med terms professor you can get. The quizzes are fairly easy as long as you study beforehand and the tests are easier than the quizzes, you just have to review. He is so nice and accommodating. He really cares about his students and he tries really hard to make the class work for everyone. He is aware that it is a tough class with a ton of information but I am tell you he is the easiest and nicest medterms processor there is. This wont be a blowoff class no matter who you have but his goal is to actually have you learn the information so that it will continue to be useful after this class and I really appreciate that.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3381 - DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR MED TERM! He will spend the entire class lecture time talking about unrelated things and making the lesson into a Latin or Greek language history class, rather than actually helping you learn medical terms. He tried forcing us to do group work and worksheets, which were very condescending and elementary level. There is a quiz every class, which are either fill in the blank or multiple choice - overall, not too hard, but you do need to study a little for them. Exams weren\'t too hard either, all multiple choice questions and very possible to get an A on them. Only homework/outside responsibility is studying for the quizzes and exams, which is nice. The class overall is not hard, his teaching style is just awful and put many to sleep during the class. He also mispronounces many of the medical terms when he actually does go over them. Worst hour and fifteen minutes of my Tuesdays and Thursdays.   - Grade In Class:A
