Comments:SOC 1305 - I took his class online this summer. He held weekly zoom office hours where maybe at the most 4 people would show up. But, he's nice and definetly willing to help. Even though I only had him for an online class I'm sad this is his last semester. The class was very doable. He had videos where he explained the readings and went over statistics. For online, there was a weekly content quiz at the end of every week. They were multiple choice and easy as long as you paid attention to the videos.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3402 - Ok I'm going to be honest - when I first met Prof Davidson I though he was trying too hard to be cool. .5 seconds in I realized he really IS cool. Y'all, James ( he tells us to call him that!) is incredibly kind, caring, and a really effective communicator. Stats can be super tricky but he gets the message across in a clear, concise way while sprinkling in humor and modern examples. When we had to go online due to the pandemic he made the transition by making us videos and was just as helpful online as he was in class. I found the SAP project difficult, as did most of my peers, but James and Prof Bonhag, the lab instructor, offered good insight and will really work with you. All in all, I recommend James SO much! I think he only has a semester left at Baylor so take him ASAP if you can.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SOC 3402 - Professor Davidson is, without a doubt, the best and most talented professor at Baylor. He is brilliant and knows the material he is teaching but, more importantly, he wants his students to share the same passion. Professor Davidson goes above and beyond to help students understand and is more than willing to take time out of his day to help students out. He is fair, knowledgable, and talented in all that he does. I learned more from him than I did most professors at Baylor, simply because his class is fun and interesting. I would recommend Professor Davidson to anybody at Baylor. I will always be grateful that he was a part of my Baylor experience. Yes, you have to work hard and put in the time and effort but it is so, so worth it for all of the skills that you learn.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3311 (Race and Ethnicity - I could not disagree more with the other review. There was a person who was a problem in this class, she was often disruptive, rude, and disrespectful, not just to Dr. D., but to the rest of the class too. Trust me when I say we all know exactly who it is who wrote this review. We all hope she gets help for her anger problem. I had another class together and she was like that in there too. As for the class, I learned a ton in it and Dr. D. met with me about every other week outside of class to go over class stuff and to help mm with my grad school applications. And I couldn't make his regular office hours, and he was very available to meeting outside that time. I don't think I've met a prof at Baylor that genuinely cares more about their student performing well in the course, but about their overall well-being too. Highly recommended!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SOC 3311 (race and eth) - DO NOT TAKE HIM. Unless you want to learn absolutely NOTHING and struggle to make a good grade all semester. Professor Davidson may seem fun and cool on the outside but he very clearly has no ability to teach and does not care about his students. He tries incredibly hard to put off a persona of approachability and understanding but it is all FAKE. He is incredibly rude and does not care if you are failing even if you are trying as hard as you can. I have absolutely no respect for him. First, he does not know enough to be teaching. Everyday, he simply reads off of his generic powerpoint, making it useless for me to come to class. Second, he grades extremely hard, making it near impossible to get an A. I have an A in nearly all of my classes and they are much harder subjects. In fact, I have to put more effort into Davdison's sociology classes than many of my other classes combined. I would not mind putting effort in if I were learning a lot but I AM LEARNING NOTHING. It is all arbitrary busywork. Third, he is rude and uncaring. I have witnessed many students go up to him and ask if there's anything they can do to improve their grade or do better in the class and simply tells them that they are not putting enough time and effort into the class. It is NOT FAIR to make us spend 3+ hours per night reading for your class because you grade so arbitrarily difficult. Moreover, he is always condescending and overcompensating for his lack of teaching ability. Overall, do NOT take him unless you want to deal with an incompetent professor all year long and learn nothing at all.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Intro Soc - James was the coolest professor I ever had at Baylor. He is always making you laugh and keeps you on your toes because he is so unpredictable. There are quizzes on the readings every few classes but he drops the two lowest. You should do well on the exams as long as you go over the notes and readings in the book. Taking a class with James is quite the experience so don't miss out. He is the best!!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - My favorite professor by far!! Baylor has a lot of great professors but none can compare to how great James is! One of my first classes at Baylor and he was amazing. The tests are multiple choice and there are a few pop quizzes but they are super easy and don't really affect your grade that much-they are more for attendance. In terms of homework its just reading which you can just skim through to get the main concepts because he teaches it really well in the class. He's lenient with attendance but honestly i never wanted to miss his class because it was always super fun. Super energetic and great person. Go to his office hours! Just go and get to know him even if you go just once and it will definitely be worth your time  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SOC 1305 - 09 - This dude is the best professor ever!!!!! You must take him for sociology!!! He makes the class come alive. His class was my first class ever at Baylor. Also, it was my first class of the day most days, and it was the perfect way to start my day off. He wants you to succeed and to come out of that class have learned so much!!!! He is excellent at explaining the concepts. He is so personable with everyone!!! He genuinely cares about his students, and I think that that is so awesome and a must have quality in a professor!!! Overall wonderful professor GO AND GET IN HIS CLASS RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! You are going to be sorry if you don't!!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - This is a super fun class. He is a very nice, fun, and passionate professor. inn a subject like sociology I feel like you need to have an unbiased professor and he remains unbiased and gives us relevant and current examples of what we are learning. I highly suggest taking him if you can. His classes aren't boring and his tests are easy as long as you show up to class. He does take attendance everyday and it does count towards your final grade. His final is just a regular test so it is pretty easy. TAKE HIM  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - James is a great professor and his class is very, very easy. Even if you don't do the readings, you can usually figure out the quizzes and the exams (30 questions + an extra credit) are fine as long as you pay some attention in class. Also, he'll throw out an exam question entirely if a ridiculous amount of people in the class get it wrong. The hardest part was probably writing the two assigned papers, but even those had super detailed rubrics and, if you follow them, you'll get an A. Seriously, take Davidson if you want to make your life less stressful.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - James is the best!! Yes, he insists we call him James because he wants us to know that we are his equal. He is so entertaining and will not bore you. He is very passionate about sociology and is very very good at the topic. I would recommend him to anyone! Even if you weren't planning on taking sociology, take it just so you can have him as a professor!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - James is the best! He is so passionate about Sociology and makes class fun. I honestly look forward to class every day. He gives pop quizzes about once a week, but four o the five questions can be answered from the previous day's class and the fifth one can often be guessed. He gives you a 3/5 on the quizzes just for being in class, which is nice. His tests are SOOOOO easy. I barely had to study for his tests and aced them. There is theoretically reading every night, and, while I did it (mostly just because I can't bare the idea of not doing something that is assigned), I don't think you would need to actually do the reading to get an A. James spends the first 10-20 minutes of every class asking students about their lives and then discussing current events, which is nice because it keeps you informed. I feel like because James makes the class so easy, it takes the pressure off of the students and you can just sit in class and absorb the information he is giving you, so I feel like I learned a lot about sociology. All in all, he is a great professor and I 100% recommend him!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - James is the ultimate homie. He truly cares that you do well in his class and enjoy it. He references his students as "colleagues" and the workload is ideaaaal. Reading, pop quizzes (that you don't have to stress about), two papers that are not long, three 30 question exams that always have an extra credit question, and pop-thought papers that are a completion grade. He usually offers extra credit and if you have the chance to take this class, for the love of God take it. You won't regret.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Mr. Davidson is THE BEST!!!! If you want a professor that brings energy to every class and wants to make sociology fun for you, then you must take him! There is no homework minus a few readings and only 3 tests, which are SUPER easy if you read the powerpoint. His goal is to make you smile everyday in class and he swears all the time... he is pretty much like an older college student who is super cool. TAKE HIM!!!!!!! Best professor ever and you will enjoy his class so much!!! In addition, he has some amazing stories of meeting famous people that will amaze you so just take him!!
