Comments:PHI 1300 HR - Inklings - I loved his class. There was quite a bit of reading but the thought provoking discussions are worth it. There is one long paper that sounds really daunting but he is a lenient grader and ended up giving some EC. I learned a lot from him and his midterms are exactly what you discussed in class and OPEN NOTE! Take Ward if you get a chance, he is great.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1306 & 4324 - A in both classes. Dr. Ward is the most excellent professor I have ever had in my entire academic career. He never fails to draw excitement and interest out of his students and has introduced me to so many new areas of study that I have continued to love ever since. I attribute my passion for philosophy to his incredible ability to connect to and inspire his students. I have taken every course of his that I have been able and plan to continue to do so until I graduate. It is a professor like Dr. Ward that makes me sad knowing that I will graduate and no longer be able to enjoy his courses.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PHI 4324 - Dr. Ward is an incredible professor. Whether or not you have an initial interest in Philosophy, I highly recommend that you take his course. He is a brilliant philosopher and encourages class discussion. He does not think of himself as higher than his students, but instead gets genuinely excited when someone suggests an idea he hasn't yet considered.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PHI 1301 - Professor Ward is nice, I guess. Really scatter brained as a teacher, which makes it hard to understand the point he's trying to make at times. I love to read, especially fiction, but the books he assigns are straight up awful. C.S. Lewis' Space Trilogy is just trash. Straight up unreadable garbage at times. That was my main problem with the class, not Ward. Nice enough I guess, so take him if you want.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3310 - He was a fantastic Professor, class often consisted of 50% lecture and 50% class discussion on the readings. Make sure to go to class and TAKE NOTES because the essays/tests are over what was discussed in class and not just the readings alone. Also be aware that participation and attendance are a grade (20% overall) so make sure you speak up and are attentive. The tests were take home questions that you would have to write a couple of short paragraphs about some of the topics, the essays were 2000 word discussing the broader spectrum of the lessons. The only thing i didn't like was that the TA was the one to grade our papers and it often felt like some of her viewpoints on the reading didn't aline with that of the professor. Overall, hes a solid professor with a passion for Philosophy.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:PHIL 1301 - Dr. Ward is incredible. He is fun and quirky and truly loves what he teaches. He is a real, active philosopher who sometimes even philosophizes and thinks through things out loud in class. He really cares about participation and it is important to have done the reading, but the class was not hard and I learned a lot. My class only had one paper, a midterm, and a final. The paper is not too hard, and the midterm and final are made up of several short essays. However, Dr. Ward gives about 5 prompts to the essays in advance and the students were required to write on only three of them for the midterm, and he did something similar for the final. I had the opportunity to get lunch with him both during the semester I took this class and the following semester, and I still go to him with questions and thoughts for my other philosophy courses and topics. I HIGHLY recommend taking a class from him.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FYS 1399 - Dr. Ward was my favorite teacher I've ever had! He has the perfect mix of funny stories and teaching, and just genuinely has an amazing personality. You can tell that he cares about each student, and is very helpful and understanding. I learned so much in his class because he really pushes you do be and do your absolute best. He doesn't accept mediocre effort. You have to really work for your A and earn it. I'm a science major, so philosophy was not really my thing, but being in his class made me really appreciate the subject and stretched my brain with every single reading and paper. The amount of work was not excessive, and if he feels like he assigned too much for the time left in the class, he is willing to remove assignments or papers to help you out. Overall, I would recommend anyone to take Dr. Ward if you can! I wish I could take another one of his classes.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FYS-1399 - Philosophy and the Inklings. This was a great class! Dr Ward gladly (re)read the material as we read it. We learned about the Inklings by reading some of their shorter works and essays, a fair number of which were about the nature of fairy-stories or were foundational for later books (even some by the Inklings, like The Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia). He gave regular reading assignments, which were usually one to three chapters, and most the reading got discussed in class. Our insights were always welcome, and he really cared that we understand the material. There were no quizzes or reflection assignments. He made it clear that he has high standards for papers, although he was willing to discuss them beforehand, and the papers got detailed feedback afterward. Definitely take him if you can, because you will learn a lot and there is rarely a dull moment in his class!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FYS 1399 - How does one even begin to describe how fantastic Dr. Ward is? I came into this class not knowing anything about philosophy, but that didn't matter because Dr. Ward was always willing to help. Class discussions were vibrant and engaging, and Dr. Ward had some really fun stories and I learned so much about C.S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien during the semester, as well as reading some really awesome books. Dr. Ward had office hours EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK from 9-5, and I have yet to find another professor who has office hours like that. We only had three papers during the semester and a final, but you could get help on all of them during office hours. There were a lot of readings, but everything was really interesting and you talk about them in class. If you like C.S. Lewis or The Lord of the Rings, you can have many fantastic discussions with Dr. Ward. TAKE DR. WARD. He is the best professor at Baylor, hands down!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1399 - EXCELLENT PROFESSOR! Dr. Ward is extremely knowledgeable about the subject(s) he teaches, and is clearly passionate about what he does. He is very nice, and his class is enjoyable. I would highly recommend him to anyone. If you go through your time at Baylor without taking a class from him, you're missing out. There is a lot of reading in the class, but he always explains everything during class discussions, so you won't have to worry about not understanding what is going on. As far as the assignments go, our class was 3 papers (the 4th was cancelled because he didn't want to inundate us with work at the end of the semester) and the final. Obviously you'll have to put in work on the papers, but honestly it isn't anything that can't be handled. The final wasn't too bad either. He gave us a detailed review sheet, and the format (short answer) was clearly explained before hand. All in all, TAKE DR. WARD! You will not regret it, I promise!   - Grade In Class:A
