Comments:BIO 3300 - Neurobiology of the Aging Brain is not an easy class if you aren't a Neuro major. I struggled so much throughout the semester, but I'll admit I didn't put in the effort to do better. He has a very fair grading system that includes 3 exams, ~10 quizzes, and your final (half your final grade is a presentation/essay). Also, all 10 of your class quizzes equal an exam grade. I failed all the exams and still passed the class because he does a "class adjustment" which bumped my grade up a whole letter grade. He's also a very kind and funny professor so overall I would recommend him for an upper level bio because even though it isn't the easiest class, he's such a kind professor and he definitely cares about the success of his students. Take him if you can!  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:BIO 1306 Honors - This class is team-taught with Dr. Doyle. Dr. Simmons covered the animal structure and function sections of the textbook. Each professor had 4 papers, an in-class exam, and half of the final. Dr. Simmons' writing assignments were significantly more open-ended than Dr. Doyle's, and I often found myself scrambling to find out what he was asking. He was able to clarify a bit when I asked him about it, but he's not the most available professor, which is his main drawback. He is the head of the Biology department and is very busy with that, but it was very frustrating that we did not get a single grade from his half of the semester back until after the final exam. His exams are not as reading-heavy as Dr. Doyle's, but he will throw in some questions based on really small details in the book that you'll probably gloss over unless you're reading very closely. Overall, the class is doable, there's no reason to avoid it, but don't expect an easy A.  - Grade In Class:A
