Comments:1302 - Nice man, mid professor, but very forgiving grader. Most people (including me) take this class not for his stellar teaching ability, but because he gives extra credit and has a drop exam, which includes the final. His lectures will make you actively fight off the urge to sleep, except for when he randomly decides to be goofy. Pacing wise, you will always be a unit behind people taking other professors. His extra credit will give you a 2% boost in overall grade, so I cannot recommend doing it enough! Homework is average, and quizzes are take-home. Also, PLEASE GO TO SI!! She was the reason I managed to get an A. Overall, you can get an A, but do not EVER slack off!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 - Dr. McGrath is a good grader but is not a very good teacher. I got through this class thanks to his wonderful SI, who I went to almost every day. He is a much slower teacher than the others, meaning that it kind of gets packed in at the end. What is unique about his class is that you take the 4th exam and the final together, and hopefully if everything works out for you, you can drop one of those. His quizzes are online and his homework is pretty average. His tests are fairly difficult but he does give partial credit points for the harder problems, which helped a lot! If you decide to take this class, it will definitely be a lot of work but I think you will be able to succeed.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 - Dr. McGrath's lectures were very boring, but he does go over lots of examples in class to explain topics. His tests were rather difficult, but I studied the slides and the practice he has on Canvas and pulled off an 88 test average. He does give a decent amount of extra credit on aktiv that adds 2% to the overall grade, so an A is technically only an 88. Would recommend if you want an easier way to get an A, but if you want to learn the material I would not advise.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 - Dr. McGrath is so hard to follow. In class he is engaging, but it is hard to tell what he thinks is important. Also, his slides are hard to follow because there is random color changes, bold, italics, and underlines with no clear meanings. If you don't read the tophat and do the aktiv you couldn't possibly get an A in this class because it teaches you the important topics. It iss clear he has a great understanding of the topic but he does not teach like he understands that his students are learning. It is also hard to take a chemistry class in a lecture class because there is so much information you have to know. He takes extremely long to grade, and we don't get our tests back so we can't see what he considered while he took so long to grade or practice the questions. He spreads out his tests so much that you have to take Exam 4 and the final at the same time. Would not recommend.  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:1302 - Dr. McGrath is genuinely such a good professor. He is funny, engages well with students, and provides plenty of resources for exam prep. Aktiv and TopHat homework are a little annoying, but nothing super difficult. The tests were also a little harder than Chem 1, however I think the content is just more difficult. I recommend going to SIs because Allison is SUPER helpful and basically the biggest reason I got an A. Be ready to do 'open-ended' questions (still have multiple choice options but you have to show your work), I like these a lot because he's great about giving partial credit.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CHE 1302 - McGrath is an a great professor. His lectures are good, although a little boring at times, and he shows practice problems during lecture which really helped me when I was doing the Aktiv and TopHat homework. The workload for this class is a lot, since there are TopHat and Aktiv homework problems, which can seem tedious at times, as well as semi-weekly quizzes. The tests were relatively fair, as long as you had done the Aktiv homework and the practice questions he posts on Canvas. He definitely provides a lot of resources for you to learn the material. In addition, both Exam 4 and the Final are mushed into the time that you take the final, and you can drop one exam, including the final. Because of this, I actually only studied for Exam 4 and just BSed my way through the final, which ended up working out. Overall, if you use the resources that he provides, you will be fine in this class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1301 - I enjoyed Dr. McGrath's lectures even if they seemed to drag on forever at times. He makes a lot of connections between the material and real-world applications, and he usually hints at topics to focus more heavily on for exams. There was a large amount of homework per chapter on Aktiv and TopHat. I recommend powering through them instead of using AI, because I don't think I would have done nearly as well on the exams without all those practice problems. His exams had both multiple choice and free response portions, with the free response weighted more heavily as they were application-type questions. He gave a small amount of extra credit through Aktiv assignments, but I recommend just doing as much practice as possible, and the class won't be too hard. He is very lenient about due dates and will extend them if needed, and sometimes he even allowed the class to have a say in scheduling the exams. I recommend Dr. McGrath  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CHE1302 - Taking AP Chemistry my senior year of high school gave me an advantage in this class, so take my opinion as you will. Mr. McGrath is a seasoned professor who knows how to teach. However, his classes are lectures so it can be difficult for some people to pay attention. He assigns a ton of HW on Aktiv and TopHat, but they are helpful for exam preparation and AI can usually help you get it done. Quizzes are online and light work, while tests are no joke. Class average was around a 70%, but if you actually do most of the HW and take the practice exam he posts, then you'll be fine. Tests were multiple choice but calculations required you to show work for credit. Overall, I liked McGrath because he knew how to teach chemistry, although most of the class was review for me. Take McGrath.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1301-H - I really enjoyed Dr. McGrath's Chemistry 1301 Honors Course. For background, I took 2 years of IB Chemistry in High School (sort of like AP chemistry). I had credit for both Chemistry 1301 and 1302 and their respective labs, but I decided to take them again anyways because my advisor recommended all pre-med students do this. I am glad I did because there were some things I didn't learn in high school chemistry that Dr. McGrath teaches. I found him to be super interesting, and he is very passionate and knowledgable about all things Chemistry. I found his class to be just the right level of challenging. To be transparent, however, if you have not taken AP, IB, or another type of college level chemistry in high school, I would not recommend taking this course at the honors level! My advisor said it would be an easy A since I took IB chemistry. This was not an easy A. It was attainable, but not easy. If you have the choice to take Dr. McGrath's class, however, I highly recommend it!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1301 - this class was super tough for me compared to chem 1 and i dont know if it was the content or teacher of both. I heard alot of hypre around mcgrath and so i took him and he was good but maybe a little overhyped. He does go over practice questions in class that are very helpful to understand for the test which i very much appreciated. do be expecting an insance amount of aktiv problems and tophat :) the tests are pretty hard and definetly took me getting used to which earned me the C unfortunately  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1302 - I want to start by saying that I didn’t take Chem 1 at Baylor, nor was I familiar with the chemistry professors here. Unfortunately, I don’t see the hype about this professor’s teaching style. If you’ve taken McGrath before, I would recommend sticking with him. However, if you haven’t, it might take some time to adjust to the workload, which includes frequent quizzes, TopHat textbook questions, and Aktiv homework assignments. The test averages are typically around 60–70%, which can be discouraging. Additionally, grading takes weeks to complete, which is very frustrating. On the plus side, he does drop one of the four exams (including the final), but I’ve already had to use that option to drop my first exam. Again, he is just average and his lectures are extremely boring.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2024-11-19

Comments:1302 - Dr.McGrath is a really professor! He gives a decent amount of homework and quizzes but they aren't overly difficult. His exams are also very fair. You will have to do some outside studying as his class is boring and hard to pay attention in. He also combines the 4th exam and final which I personally didn't like. Overall he's nice and I recommend him to everyone taking chem 2!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1306 - Bas Prin Mod Chem II. Take him if you can! He was my favorite Professor at Baylor so far. The homework prepares you for the types of questions on the exams, and between that and the lecture slides, you should be all set. It requires work, but it's rewarding. He has extra credit opportunities through Aktiv, and he even posts extra practice problems you can do on Canvas. He provides you with all the resources you need to succeed, and he also records his lectures, so you can watch/rewatch them later! If you have the chance to take Dr. McGrath, take it! You can drop your lowest exam score (including the final). Most of the exams were all MC; usually about 10 concept questions and the rest math. Partial credit is given for the math questions. Exam 4 and the Final are taken at the same time, but it wasn't that difficult to prepare for. SI sessions helped a lot!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CHE 1302 - Let me start by saying: SCOTLAND FOREVERRRR!!! Dr. McGrath is actually such a goat. In class, he builds upon the lecture slides and works through example problems. Most of the exams are pretty much the same type of questions as the examples in lecture, so as long as you practice reworking those problems and pay attention in lecture, you're guaranteed an A or B. The class is graded by 3 exams during the semester (20% each), and then you take Exam 4 and the Final exam (each 20%) during the same period, and then there is 10% for quizzes and 10% for HW. You then can drop your lowest exam, so most people would use the cumulative final as their drop. He also offers up to 2% extra credit on your overall grade if you do the multimedia assignments on OWL for each of the chapters. Dr. McGrath is also very liberal on his partial credit for the exams. I thought I bombed the first exam, but I passed and I owe that to the partial credit on the math questions. He also doesn't use minus grades so the grading scheme follows A, B+, B, C+, C, etc. He rounds overall grades too. So if you have like a 79.6 or something, he will put it in BearWeb as a B. Now, don't take my advice as meaning that the class is easy, it definitely isn't, but there are so many resources to succeed, including Dr. McGrath, who is very helpful during office hours. If you have to take Chem 2, take McGrath!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 H - Dr. McGrath is incredible. Not only is he amazing at explaining concepts, he is also humble, sweet, and genuinely cares about his students. His honors section tests are a bit harder, but if you do the (abundant) practice material he gives you and practice problems in the book you’ll be fine. He is very available during office hours, and really enjoys teaching. People told me not to take his honors section because they would be too hard, but I think if you’re willing to put in the hard work, you’ll walk away with solid understanding of the material.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 - He is an awesome teacher! And he has a style of teaching that I really like. He generally does his best to not just read off of the slides, but more build upon what they say. He does alot of in class examples. The exams I thought were not hard, they were just reworded questions he did in class. He allows you to drop 1 of your 5 exams, the final is included in that. Most of my friends never took their final. His homework is alot harder than the exams and takes up a long time, but if you spend time understanding it the exams are a piece of cake. He does not drop any homeworks, but he does give you lots of extra credit. Even if you dont think you need it DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. It took me 8 hours to do all the extra credit for the semester. It gives you an extra 20% on your homework grade which gave me tons of wiggle room for finals. Over all he is kinda hard to find in his office, but he talks about why in class. He responds to emails at a normal rate, and is very helpful in answering questions. The last thing that I want to add is that he gives you tons of reasorces to suceed in his class. He as practice exams and then paragraphs explaing how to do each questions. And then quizzes that are harder than the exams, so dont freak out if you get a 4/12 on the quizes.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 - I really do think this teacher is highly over-rated. I took Chem 1 with a different teacher last summer, which may have been why I didn't succeed as well in this class not taking McGrath for Chem 1. He is a very nice person but this is an extremely hard class for anyone who is not good at math. My biggest struggle was figuring out how to actually practice for his tests. I found that several classmates and I didn't retain anything in class, but would finally understand it once we simply reviewed it by ourselves. Some would suggest doing the practice problems at the end of the chapter, but those only helped me minimally. His SI is amazing, but she is sadly leaving after next year. Chem 2 is much much harder than Chem 1 and if math is difficult for you I would recommend taking another professor. McGrath will give you extra quizzes and OWL (which will boost your grade 2 points, do it!) but in my opinion he is very over-rated for his actual teaching ability.  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:1302 - He might be my favorite professor I have had at Baylor! Let my start off by saying I do like chemistry! This class was interesting to me, and I feel like his teaching aided to my enjoyment of the class. He explains material well and I loved listening to his accent! The grades are composed of 5 tests (including the final), OWL homework, and outside of class quizzes. He drops one of the five tests (the cumulative final can be dropped!!). I did go to almost all of the SI sessions and found that to be very helpful!! Dr. McGrath is very kind and wants you to succeed!!! What also helped me tremendously is that he gives partial credit on the tests! I would argue that he is the best chemistry professor  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 H - Let me start off by saying how this class has deteriorated my mental health. Please do not listen to anyone who compliments this man because pre-meds love to tell everyone how funny and awesome he is which is a lie because his tests are extremely difficult and unless you actually invented chemistry you will not be able to do well in his class. He is also not funny and does not curve tests well even if the average is low. And even if you do find mediocre chemistry "jokes" funny remember that crying about this class everyday is not funny so don't take this class.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1301, 1302 - Dr. McGrath is a wonderful man and professor. He has won the Collins award at Baylor which is a huge compliment (this award is given based on pure student vote- meaning a lot of students like him). There is not a bunch of homework for the class accept ALEKS which is completion. If you miss a deadline or feel like you will, but you ask him for an extension, he will likely give you one. He is such a great man, and really really wants you to succeed and enjoy his class. I highly recommend his office hours for tutoring or just getting to know him better- he is really great!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2023-05-04

Comments:1302 H - Taking his class was probably the worst mistake of my life. His exams for his honors section are beyond impossible. Don't listen to anyone when they tell you he's a nice guy, he's not. Sure he gives out extra credit but when his exams are literally impossible the partial credit does nothing. I cannot stress how difficult this class is for no reason. All these pre-meds will tell you how much they love him and how amazing and nice and funny he is, but the truth is his class is super difficult and I did not smile or laugh once and no matter how much you study, go to SI, or do his practice exams the tests are always insanely hard. Take any other professor but this man. Anyone who recommends this professor is truly praying on your downfall. Do not take this class.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2023-05-02

Comments:CHE 1302 - Dr. McGrath was a great teacher. Lecture slides as well as in class worksheets are posted ahead of time on canvas and I found it most helpful to have them ready to go, otherwise it can be hard to keep up as the material moves kinda fast. He's great in office hours, but be sure to email ahead of time that you're coming and what time you'll be there! The SI for his class was also super helpful.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2023-01-13

Comments:CHE 1301 HNR - Fall 2022: Class is lecture-based and all of the slides are posted on Canvas, in addition to practice problems for exams. If you have prior knowledge of chemistry, this class should not pose a threat. McGrath is a good professor, but he uses ALEKS software to make sure students keep up with the class content; ALEKS appears to be more painful than OWL or other software. Advice: Skip course if you have credit already; Stay on top of the ALEKS assignments; Go to office hours to understand post-exam damage; Study using practice materials on Canvas  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2022-12-28

Comments:CHEM 1302 - McGrath is a SWEETHEART! His lecture slides make things a bit more confusing than they could be, but if you go to SI, you should be fine. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT OWLS PLEASE! You cannot get through this class without studying. The content is not that hard, but you do have to study. If you go to McGrath's office hours, he WILL help you. He graded my exam for me in his office because I wanted to see the score ASAP. Take him, but go to office hours/SI!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2022-12-21

Comments:CHEM 1302 - Dr. McGrath's class was fine, but difficult. He presents on lectures and he has handouts where he gives examples of problems. He assigns OWL homework, which sucks because it is A LOT. I had a tutor and that was the only way I was able to do well on my homework. I can't imagine doing that alone. It was difficult. He does offer extra credit on OWL. Those extra credit OWL assignments are nice and easy and I was able to do those alone. The extra credit gives you a whole 2% extra on your grade for the class, so DO IT!!! It is a great study tool as well and I wish I used it to study (especially for the final), rather than waiting until the end of the semester to do it. His tests were awful. There is half multiple choice, half short answer (working problems out). He doesn't give any equations to you, just constants you might need. I believe that I could have done better on the tests if the equations were given to us. He takes a while to grade the tests because he grades the short answer problems himself. He drops the lowest test grade which is nice. He has quizzes throughout the semester, most of them are pretty easy. He does not drop any of those. This class was stressful, but also expected for a chem class.  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2022-12-19

Comments:CHE 1302 - So, let me start with this. He is a very good guy. His lectures are easy and simple to understand. But that's it. His tests were way harder than any lecture/worksheet material he did in class. Only way of getting a good grade is doing all of his practice exams, going to every SI, taking the SI's test, and more. Consider all of your science classes you are taking at the moment and all of the things you have to do in this class to get an A. Choose wisely.  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2022-12-17

Comments:Chemistry 1302 - Don't let the accent fool you. He gives out a lot of Chem OWL homework. We had three due in a week during finals week. I went to SI, did OWL homework, tutoring, and everything I could think of for his class. He doesn't curve but he will give you partial credit. We were the first class he didn't give an equation sheet to so that was great to hear about. He also doesn't grade the tests on a timely manner but I understand that he has tons of tests to grade. Just warning you that you won't know what your grade is until a month after.  - Grade In Class:D

Comments:CHE 1301 - HNR - Do NOT take Chem 1301 Honors without a strong foundation (AP Chem)! I thought I was going to be ok, since I did well in chemistry, but it is more than that. Although the (weekly) 10-15 ALEKS assignments and practice quizzes/tests do help in understanding the material, his tests expect much much more! When I took it there was no SI and usually, the tutoring center doesn't understand those more "in depth" topics McGrath teaches. In class, he does okay in explaining the topics, but would only do around 1-2 practice problems per chapter with you. This would be fine if there was an SI or someone else to do problems with outside of class, but again there isn't because you are "honors". He is sort of available outside out class, but if you do not email him ahead of time saying you are going, then he won't most likely be there. It is hard to find him during office hours, but he really is willing to meet with you. Again, he does have extra practice with small explanations, but it is different from his tests. Some people do decently without a strong foundation, but I wouldn't advise it if you do not since it is your first semester of college and especially if you are taking 2-3 STEM classes, it is difficult to figure out.  - Grade In Class:D

Comments:CHEM 1302 - Dr. McGrath is a wonderful professor. It is evident he really cares about his students and is willing to help them through every step of the way and is very knowledgeable and passionate about Chemistry. He is also great at explaining challenging concepts. The workload is not bad at all. There are 3 Owl assignments for each chapter, but they do not take super long. McGrath's tests are very fair and he gives partial credit for the work shown on the multiple choice questions where you show your work. Overall, an outstanding professor and one of my favorites at Baylor! Also, his Scottish accent is great.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2022-11-05

Comments:CHE 1302 - Dr.McGrath is the best, please get him if you can! He is really good at teaching during lectures, and if I felt lost he made the lecture available in the media gallery of the canvas. He makes super simple exams as long as you go to Rebecca(SI) then you'll be perfectly fine coming out with a high B or A. And he does not expect you to know every, just the essentials. Plus he is funny & caring.   - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2022-05-16

Comments:CHE1302 - If you took AP in high school, this class is just the second semester plus a few extra concepts. There is about 3% extra credit just from doing the extra homework exercises, 100% worth it. One exam gets dropped, so don't worry if you do bad on the first one. Just do his practice test, and GO TO SI. Rebecca is the best and will save you. Take McGrath for 1302.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 - The BEST professor!! I wish I could have him for every chemistry class. He was so helpful and made chemistry enjoyable. He didn't assign an overwhelming amount of work and his exams and quizzes weren't too difficult. He provided review notes and practice tests. His actual exams reflected his review tests.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2022-04-28

Comments:1302 HNR - Dr. McGrath is a fast-paced, but concise lecturer who will give you what you need to know for his exams. That said, you will need to do a lot of practice with the concepts he gives you and be ready to use them creatively on a test (especially for his honors section.) He is also very helpful outside of class and is a fun person to talk to, and is surprisingly available for being the head of the chem department. ALEKS homework program was a nightmare, but overall improved my chem skills drastically from his class.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2022-04-08

Comments:1301 H - Dr. McGrath is really fun. His lectures, however, are less so. All his lectures are just going through PowerPoint slides, and sometimes it's really hard not to fall asleep. I got through class without paying attention in roughly half the lectures. He's understanding if you need extensions on deadlines, and his workload is manageable if you stay on top of it. I'm retaking him for Chem II.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2021-12-13

Comments:CHE 1301/1302 HONORS - CHE 1301 is a lot easier than CHE 1302, because of the content. CHE 1302 is more math based and has harder content. Beware that his tests are almost 90% free response, but doing his practice tests and understanding the concepts will certainly guarantee you an A. He’s also gracious with grading and always gives partial credit for wrong answers. Grading wise, it’s 15% HW (ALEKS online), 10% final, and the other 75% is split up unevenly among 4 exams (exams are weighted according to their importance; not every test is worth the same). As a pre-med, I’m grateful I took him because his class will make sure you understand the concepts insanely well. Definitely, take him if you can, I ended with a solid A in both classes.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 - I would highly recommend taking McGrath. I hated gen chem 1, but I loved this class only because of him and his teaching ability. His SI is strict but super helpful. One thing I really appreciated is his grading system and extra credit owls (do them they really bump up your grade). He has frq in his tests which are amazing due to partial credit. All you need to do well in his tests are his powerpoints and lots of practice from books or not and then you won’t even need SI. He has a beautiful Scottish accent btw!  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:CHE 1302 - Dr. McGrath!!!! This man is awesome, I was absolutely traumatized from my chem 1 experience and thought I would do terribly. I talked to McGrath about my nerves and he gave me tips and talked me through it--this guy is awesome. I was never bored in class, and he makes everything so incredibly simple (even if it's absolutely not). We had about 2-3 chem owl assignments due every week, but they're short and an easy grade booster. Definitely do the extra credit owls, it's 2 points on your final grade (doesn't seem like much until you have an 88 and remember the extra credit). His tests are half multiple-choice half free responses, and he always gives partial credit, which is awesome. Go to his office hours and ask questions! He's a cool dude that wants to know you! I had the second half of this class online and he did a really great job with the transition. Study the handouts he gives you in class (the tests have similar problems) and go to SI! The only way you get good grades in this class is by practicing problems, and you're basically guaranteed an A after that! Take McGrath!! I love chemistry now, and it's because of him!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 - Pretty fair homework load and effective lectures. This was the best chemistry class I have taken at Baylor. The final was kind of har but he drops your lowest exam grade and replaces it with your final grade. The final is two parts the last unit exam and the cumulative exam. Try to do well on the exams leading up until the final so that you wont stress over the cumulative exam which was very difficult. He also offers extra credit through OWLv2 which helped my grade a lot I went from a C at the beginning to a very high B almost an A. So if you work hard and study a lot this class will be fine for you. Dr. McGrath is also really nice and funny.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1302 - The bomb, seriously take this man he is a great professor and he's from Scotland. Tests are very fair, just do the practice problems online before hand and his practice tests as well and you'll be good. Highly recommend over any other chem 2 prof, there's a reason this guy is highly sought after  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302H1 - McGrath is a treasure. He works hard, makes his lectures engaging, and thoroughly explains what he wants his students to know. That being said, this material is tough. If you take his honors section (I don't think he is teaching it again), you will have to put in a lot of extra work outside of class to prepare for his tests. He does like to ask questions that stretch every ounce of your knowledge.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1306 - There's a reason McGrath is in high demand for general chem. He's a great lecturer and goes over examples in class. Mastering homework sucks but that's a universal in the chem department. He's very friendly and passionate. Some of the content is difficult if you haven't been exposed to it before in AP chem, but he doesn't go too quickly. Either go to SI or do an insane amount of practice problems. His practice tests are helpful but are not totally indicative of the types of problems that will be on the test, so don't get blindsided. He provides textbook examples of problems to review. There's a lot of them, but if you can do all of them backwards and forwards then you'll have no problems on the test. I took him MWF, I wouldn't recommend that. His tests are fairly long for only a 50 minute period and if you spend more than a couple minutes on a single problem you'll run out of time. Tests are challenging but not unfair and he's good about telling you what you will and won't be tested over. Take him if you can get him.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1302 - Dr. McGrath is one of the better professors I have had at Baylor. He lectures very well and as long as you take notes and pay attention you will learn what you need to in class. He works through worksheets in class which are very similar to the questions on the test. His SI is good and helps you understand difficult concepts. For every test, he has a document on canvas that summarizes all important concepts and he also has a practice test that is VERY similar to the real tests. He drops your lowest test so if you do well at the beginning you don't need to take the cumulative portion of the final. Homework is the online OWL software which starts out fairly easy but by the end of the semester each homework assignment can take up to 2 hours. This might seem like a lot but you will learn a lot from the homework and this really cuts down on the time you need to study for the tests. There are quizzes in class every once in a while that are fairly easy as well.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 - What to say about dear old Tom. He was a fairly reasonable guy. He wasn't the most helpful in office hours but I'd still recommend going. His tests were a bit challenging bc his formula sheets you barely glance at you have to show your work in the math section or get no credit. They were about 75% true to his office hours. He also offers 2 points added to your overall grade if you complete all the multimedia homework. Overall he wasn't the worst but his class was still challenging but doable. In terms of other professors he offers a lot of practice problems for you to work on which was awesome.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Chem 2 - I loved Dr. McGrath! I think that he is a very good lecturer because he goes in very great detail for the material. He breaks things down into simple terms so that it is easy to understand for everybody. Just make sure to pay attention in his class, because if you zone out for a few classes, you'll walk in and I promise you'll be completely lost. His exams are pretty difficult so make sure to study hard by going over your notes from class and doing homework on OWL. The OWL is also very helpful for this class. If you know what you're doing on OWL, there's a pretty good chance you'll do well on the exams and quizzes. He doesn't give out much extra credit, so be sure to take advantage of the chances to get some. I only went into his office hours once for acids and bases and I think he is quite helpful. I personally still didn't understand what was going on but he explained it well enough to my friend, who later taught me what was going on. Overall, take him if you can, he's a solid teacher.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302 - McGrath is one of the best lecturers at Baylor, and he genuinely cares about student success. He\'s always helping someone in his office, but he\'ll make time if you will. His quizzes get easier throughout the semester, and he drops a test (1 out of 5), so if you decide you want to take the last-few-chapters final but NOT the cumulative final you can do that. (That\'s on the syllabus quiz, btw.) His homework is short and to the point, and he actually works example problems, both of which reinforce learning rather than inhibit it   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1106 - Perhaps I’m dumb but boyyy I messed up taking McGrath. Everyone was like “oh take him he’s easy”uhhhhhhh heck no. I failed miserably! Tutoring really helped but his office hours were not so helpful. Whenever I struggled with a concept he’s rudely point out that we did an example in class. Uhhh yeah I know that!! His tests are hella math heavy so that was fun. He was sometimes tolerable as a person and teacher but course wise I was scruggling with both tests and quizzes! Guess I should’ve stuck with Klausmeyer like first semester. Good luck! I know people who made A’s but It certainly wasn’t me!  - Grade In Class:F
