Comments:1325-Global Health - This class has an extremely easy workload. There are daily/weekly readings but honestly you didn't have to do them to do well in the class. As long as you make the 10 pop quizzes, your grade should be just fine. The tests are online and are easy if you've done the review. The test reviews are extremely long, but they're thorough and really prepare you for the tests. An A in this class is a 94, so that kind of sucks, but it's certainly manageable. I enjoyed the class and learned a lot, but Dr. Schultz tends to make it more of a political rant than a lecture in my opinion. While I agreed with nearly all of what he said, I could definitely see the bias. He can go on tangents and class can seem really long sometimes because of it. Overall, this class is a really good GPA boost and is pretty interesting. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1325 - Dr. Schultz's passion for the course material makes the class easy to engage in. There were two guest speakers, both of which had relevant and interesting presentations. Although the test reviews are long, if you do them then the tests themselves are easy. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Global Health 1325 - Dr. Schultz seems to be invested in what he is teaching, however his teaching ability is not good. His lectures are hard to take notes on, and his reviews for exams come 2-3 days before the exams. His reviews for exams are also ridiculously long (9 pages singles spaced with several questions per bullet point) for his incredibly short exams online. The exams are about 25 questions and 50 minutes long. For a review as long as he makes it, he should really give it to students at least a week in advance so that there is adequate time to study for the exams.
I learned a lot from his class, but my performance on his exams did not reflect my knowledge. I would prefer to take the exams in person and with a much less detailed review. Don't take this class unless you have a passion for global health and wasting time trying to finish reviews. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:4325 - The material itself is quite interesting and relevant for anyone hoping to study public health or pursue a career in medicine. However, Dr. Schultz is simply not a gifted teacher. His lectures are hard to follow and lack clarity. He often goes on tangents and neglects to explain the material in a through, nuanced, and step-by-step fashion. The grading scale is a bit draconian (<94 is an A-), but the tests are manageable if you study the study guides he posts on Canvas. There is also a project, which is quite tedious but he does try his best to offer help throughout the semester. Also, there is a 16 point extra credit assignment which can most certainly boost your grade. Overall, interesting material, relatively easy coursework, yet poor professor. - Grade In Class:A
