Comments:ENG1310 - Dr. Crenshaw is the best. I was supposed to place out of ENG. I discovered my senior year I was missing this credit. (Thanks to a change in Business School advisors who didn't catch it.) My plan was to take the class in summer school. But my new advisor suggested I take Dr. Crenshaw, and I am so glad she did. Dr. C is one of the few profs I had outside of my major who actually took Baylor's Christian mission seriously. The whole class was on writing over Christian topics like what Christians can do to end human trafficking. She was smart, funny, and made class worth coming to. Even as a senior who sat on the back row and just wanted the credit. I don't know if she is still at Baylor. (and I don't blame her after what the Lariat did.) But if she comes back, take her.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ENG 1302, 1304 - First, I just want to say Dr. Crenshaw is everything Baylor should be. Professors like her are the reason parents and students spend over 200k on a Christian university. I graduated from Baylor 2 years ago, and I took Dr. Crenshaw twice: first in the Fall of 2018 for 1302 and then Spring 2019 for 1304. But I also went to church with her, on a mission trip to Mexico with her, and my girlfriend was her kids babysitter. So, I got to know her more than most students. She is an amazing professor and person. She challenges you to think and write better, and she does it from a Christian perspective. I wish all my professors did that a Baylor. But they don't. I am just now leaving a review because I what some really progressive woke students have done to her. Like the person below said, just google it. Your search will find all the news coverage speaks volumes about her character in light of how the Baylor Lariat threw her under the bus. If you want a professor who will lie to you and say males can be females, then she is not the professor for you. She is not going to play pretend. She does so much work with human trafficking. She is like an expert on this, so no wonder she wants to keep safe spaces for women. And speaking of safe, you should know according to the Lariat she was on the LGTBQ safe list for years, but then they took her off because she has issues with Title IX allowing men to compete with women and be in women's locker rooms. That's embarrassing for them, not Dr. Crenshaw. If you want a woke prof, don't take her. If you want one that is Baptist, Christian, wins awards, and is liked by almost every student who has ever taken her, then she is for you.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:ENG - I did not have a poor experience with Dr. Crenshaw the first time I took her, but I am writing this as a warning to students who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community who are considering taking her. Please just do a google search on her before you sign up for her class, because she may not be able to create the kind of welcoming environment you deserve.  - Grade In Class:DROP

Comments:1310 - I had Dr. Crenshaw this past spring for ENG 1310 and she was amazing!! She was super helpful and understanding and the assignments weren’t too difficult. She gives homework every day which can be a lot and when classes switched online I think her class had the most work to do out of all of my others but the assignments weren’t difficult at all. There’s only three essays and she grades them EXTREMELY fairly. Like I am a horrible writer so I was nervous about taking a college english class and I still managed an A. If you do all of the assignments she gives and put a decent effort into the essays youll for sure do well. Also she gives extra credit if you use the writing center for each paper and that’s always a plus. Another thing to add is her focus is faith based writing so if you aren’t comfortable writing and talking about topics through a Christian perspective Id recommend maybe a different professor just because it is such a big factor in the class. Overall her class was my favorite class I had while in person since the class was so small (15-20 people) and we got to know each other pretty well.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - LOVE this lady. She will help you no matter what, and it's really helpful. We had 3 essays, 3 quizzes from the textbook with 25 MC, and daily work before classes. This class was very busy for me because you had to do this daily work every day before you come to class, but it's just a completion grade (she reads it sometimes though). We had to do Annotated Bibliography for every unit for your essay. She also randomly picks on you to read off of her board out loud for her, which I don't like. She also gives you 5 bonus points in your essay if you go to the writing center. This is an excellent opportunity because it does help you and saves your grade. Our first essay was 2-4 pgs, the second was 4pg(i think), the last one was 6-8 pgs long which was a little hard for me. Other than that, She's kind and very helpful. Take her class and you will actually enjoy it.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ENG 1301 - mazing professor!!! She is a cross between kind of like your mom and a little like a big sister. If that makes sense. She is not easy. The class is a lot of work. Most students get Bs on their papers. Just know that. If you want an A you cannot miss class and must do all the daily work. And she doesn't really "cancel" class. You have to go to 3 student conferences. One time she had a conference out of town. And yeah, one time she did cancel lass because of the weather. My section was on faith and writing. I think that's the only kind of writing she teaches, so maybe don't take the class if you aren't prepared to write about Christianity. I do think the class helped me become a better writer and researcher. It definitely helped me think about my faith. One place of frustration for some students might be her availability. She told us she only teaches a few classes so she can also be with her kids. So, she is on campus only a few days a week I think.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:ENG1310 - Dr. Crenshaw is an extremely sweet and caring lady. She was always very understanding and respectful of our time, and also she probably canceled class 7 times the semester that I took her so that was always nice. She gave out homework almost every night but most of it is so easy, or it's just to help you stay on track with your essay. She also gives 10 points of extra credit throughout the year. TEN. you could finish with an 80 and have gone to all the extra credit and then get a 90. The English class she taught was Christian Faith-based, which was annoying at first but it wasn't as hard as some of the other ones. Would recommend.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Eng 1310 - I highly recommend taking Professor Crenshaw! She gives a lot of homework but she is a nice grader and is extremely helpful when writing papers. She cares deeply about all her students and learns your name and things about you. TAKE DR CRENSHAW!!!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - I really ended up liking this class. I wasn't sure what to think when I signed up for this class at orientation. My summer advisor highly recommended Dr. Crenshaw, and I'm so glad she did. The workload is pretty heavy, but I think that's true for all writing classes. I didn't know this section was going to be "faith and writing," and Dr. Crenshaw focuses on vocation and justice, too. Maybe don't take her if you aren't interested in writing about Christian topics. She is open to you writing about other faiths, but your readings will all be from Christian authors. I think this class is probably better and more enjoyable than writing about food, technology, and whatever the other choices are. Dr. Crenshaw is a great professor. She's funny, kind, and really cares a lot about her students. I get the impression she teaches more for fun than because she has to work, which I guess means she really likes what she does. She holds student conferences. Sometimes they are optional and sometimes they are required. I found them helpful for brainstorming my topic but not the actual writing part. She does give extra credit if you attend the Writing Lab. Don't expect this class to be easy. If you work really hard, you can earn an A. If you slack, you'll probably earn a B. If students earn a C, they were lazy. And a D means they deserved it b/c it is not that hard. She made me want to come to class every day for discussion and group work. I guess in the end, that's what makes a great college experience, right?  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:ENG 1310 - I think I'm technically earning an A-. Grades have not been posted yet, but I want to leave a review b/c I really enjoyed having Dr. Crenshaw no matter what I end up earning. I don't usually write reviews ever. it's kind of weird to post reviews of professors, IMO. They are professionals and not in the customer service industry. This isn't Amazon. And If I were to read a review about a medical doctor who would not give patients whatever medicine they wanted I would just think the patient was crazy, not the doctor. Kind of the same here. Probably most students who write reviews either love or hate the professor. So can you really trust them? Well, if you're willing to trust a stranger, then Dr. Crenshaw has my vote. Don't miss class if you can help it. She grades on attendance. Participate in class. Do your work. She's a really great person and professor.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ENG 1304 - HANDS DOWN the best professor I have had at Baylor so far! It's only my second semester, but still. She is not easy, and yeah, she is strict with attendance, but she is worth it! I think I know who the student is who wrote the previous review. She is an athlete and was in my class. I remember her being upset after class one day because she got a 95/100 for attendance and participation. Dr. Crenshaw explained she had missed an assignment and that she rarely spoke in class voluntarily. (So, suck it up. You sound entitled.) I watched Dr. Crenshaw bend over backward to work with her crazy travel schedule. In fact, she told our class that she had 7 athletes this semester alone, which means she has to be doing something right or Baylor wouldn't keep putting them in her classes. Dr. Crenshaw does a lot of things right, actually. Mostly, she brings who she is outside of the classroom into the classroom. She draws from her life experiences as a mom, a person of devout faith, an educator, and a human trafficking fighter, to make the class engaging. She actually won some award this year for being one of the top professors to teach freshman students. Freshman writing is nobody's favorite class, but she will easily be your favorite professor. She is not an easy A. If you are looking for an easy A, this is not your professor and maybe not even the right college for you. I earned a B+ when I probably could have earned an A with some graduate student. But the discussion is lively, and she teaches her heart out. And I would do it again if I could. She's taking a break from teaching to write a book or something, but if she comes back, TAKE HER!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:ENG 1304 - Dr. Crenshaw has some of the most ridiculous due dates in mind giving you only a day or two between your rough and final draft. For my second paper, the rough and final draft was due on the same day. Not an easy A as Dr. Crenshaw believes that if you follow the rubric perfectly, you get a B. On top of that, if you have 3 absences you are brought down to a 75 in participation with an additional 25 points off per additional absence. Many students in my class received a B when they could have gotten an A with a different professor. Do not recommend.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1304 - I freakin LOVE Dr. Crenshaw. This is my favorite class this semester. We have such great class discussions and I have learned so much. Some other classes have a specific topic like music or art and all their papers are based on that but Crenshaw gives us different topics like gender inequality, education methods, social issues, and human trafficking. I am a better writer and more knowledgeable because of this class. She also cancels often so students like that. And she devotes multiple classes to discussing and educating us about the different topics and ideas for papers we can write, she has accountability checks so we don't fall behind, and she lets us go outside when it's nice out :). I for real love her teaching style and I think she's really funny, personable, and casual and professional at the same time. Sometimes the essays are stressful obviously but she makes it less overwhelming and is SO helpful. I would highly recommend taking her class, getting to know her, and really putting in some effort. You will get so much out of it.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1304 - She is a funny and kind teacher who has great class discussions. Papers are normal length 1st 4 pages 2nd 5 pages and the 3rd 10 pages. She grades pretty easy too, the reason I got a D was that I took the class for granted and tried to slide through barley putting any work in. If you pay attention in class, DON'T PROCRASTINATE, and spend about a day or two writing the papers you should be fine.  - Grade In Class:D

Comments:1302 - I never write reviews on here but Dr. Crenshaw is incredible and I don't say that lightly. I am a better writer, student, and person because I took her! She was my favorite professor I had freshman year and despite how busy she is, I can tell you that she cares 100% about each of her students and their success. I love that she incorporates her own passions and research into the classroom and gives plenty of opportunities for you to succeed (writing center, extra credit movies, one on one appointments, etc). She even brought one or both of her sons to class on occasion and kept it real with us, which as a college student was so refreshing, something I appreciated more than I could say. I promise you will learn so much more than just English if you take her! I was so sad I couldn't fit any of her 1304 sections into my schedule and I wish she taught literature. She made a class that I was dreading one of my favorites I've taken at Baylor. I absolutely loved her and highly recommend her to anyone!!!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1304 - Dr. Crenshaw is one of the best professors that I've had at Baylor. She's intelligent and she interacts with students because she really cares for us. Ask her about her research too! It's really interesting.. and eventually she makes you do a research paper over a topic in it. Not an easy A but if you do your work, you'll be fine. She's a very fair grader and really wants to help you with your writing so she goes through and adds comments along your essays. The only thing I have to say is that she's a busy woman between her research/conferences and being a mom and since she likes to keep the readings relevant, sometimes it takes her awhile to find the one she wants. Other than that, TAKE HER if you can!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1304 - Wowowow all I can say is if you are able to take her, DO IT. She's a very fair grader, and is one of the sweetest profs I've had at Baylor. Not necessarily an easy A, but if you're even a semi good student, you can pretty easily pull it off. TAKE HER.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Eng 1302/1304 - I'm so glad Dr. Crenshaw finally has a BuBooks rating! I have had her for both English 1302 and 1304... TAKE HER!! I recommend her class to all of my friends because she is not only an outstanding professor but an outstanding person. Her service in the Waco community is fantastic and I have nothing but respect for her work in the prevention of sex trafficking. That being said, her class is structured very well. Although her class weighted heavily (93.0+ = A) she is on a point based system and offers 5 EC points per paper for going to the writing center. Essentially, you'll get 5% added to your paper for going to the writing center and furthering your grade. You have a handful of very simple quizzes every semester (3-5 quizzes @ 10-20 points each) along with 4 papers and 0 TESTS!! As long as you attend class and are active in the small amount of daily work, you will get an A in the class. As a science major, I don't have very much time, but she gives PLENTY of room to get an A on every paper. Not only that but if you get lower than an 85% on a paper, you can "redo" your previous paper and get a better grade if you are a high achiever (I have never received lower than an 88% on a paper in two semesters). Her class is very reasonable and she will often cancel a few classes a semester because she is not only a mom, but she actively travels for her sex trafficking work. If you are a good student who attends class, take her... you won't regret it!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1304 - Dr. Crenshaw is a good professor to take for English. She's very personable and genuinely cares about her students. She spends a good bit of the semester getting to know us and checking in. There is a decent amount of daily work and work leadin up to writing papers, but they're mainly just completetion grades. She's a fair grader, it's not an easy A class, but if you put in an effort and try you should do well. She also gives you 3 free absences from her class without counting against you wich is nice. The only downside is that she doesn't have many office hours because she is a working mom, but she will do her best to answer questions in class or schedule another time to meet with you.   - Grade In Class:A
