Comments:eng - way too liberal and progressive for Baylor. He is a stain in Baylor's Christian image. He needs to be fired, as his beliefs do not align with Baylor. He needs to go to a liberal school where his beliefs are accepted.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:2310 - If you ever have the opportunity to take a class with Greg, please do so - the course is not hard and he is the first professor I've ever seen who is actually caring about his students on a personal level. Spends first 10 min of class everyday just checking in to make sure we are all doing good  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ENG 4301 - Just the best! So sweet and so helpful! I loved the workshop structure of our class. It was so conversational and beneficial for my writing.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2310 - Dr. Garrett is the absolute sweetest professor, and is such a genuine, understanding person! He is so understanding, and always makes sure to check up on all of his students at the beginning of the class, even via Zoom. There are quite a few books that we had to read (most of which I was able to read summaries for and then be able to write up the journal). You write a 2 page, double-spaced journal after you read each book. He grades quite leniently, and is looking more for your reaction to the work than a deep literary analysis. He doesn't do quizzes or tests, and there's only one big critical analysis paper.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2310 - I love this guy. He is so nice and I have never seen someone more kind. He's really woke and knows about what's going on around us in terms of racial problems. The class consists of Zoom calls and journal reflections almost every week. No exams. 1 essay. I am personally a science major and it was really interesting to take this class. He really cares about his students and doing well and I really thought about taking another class with this guy. He works with students and I honestly think he's the best professor this department has.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ENG 2403 - I have just finished my final exam for Dr. Garret’s Am Lit class. I feel genuine sadness because I will dearly miss the class and having Dr. Garrett as a professor—i wish it could go on forever! Dr. Garrett embodies everything Baylor is supposed to stand for. As students, we witness the shortcomings of Baylor as a result of bad experiences and embitterment towards impossible professors. Gr. Garrett will restore your faith in baylor and formal university education. I have never heard of anyone having a bad experience with greg garrett as a professor. I genuinely looked forward to class because I always walked away with a piece of knowledge that contribute positively to my understanding of myself and the world around me. Dr. garrett is a fair professor; the assignments truly help you understand the literature and gently challenges you to dive deep into the text. There are 10 two page journals over each of the 10 authors we explore, one three page paper, one poetry recitation, and one final exam. Dr. garrett shows students so much grace, respect, and sincere care for us and our education. All assignments are a fair and accurate test of knowledge, never impossible, and could be turned in late without penalty if you had a fair reason. Discussions were not intimidating because he led us through them without cold calling. The books he picked were easy to relate to; he even included several modern works that I sincerely enjoyed reading. Although I disagree with the 4 classes of English that B.A. are required to take, I am thankful to have Dr. Garrett as a teacher. Overall he's such a transparent guy, and super humble for being the most distinguished author in the department. Truly a teacher I'll never forget!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3377 - Dr. Garrett is a very kind man. He is genuinely interested in his students. That being said, I don't think he actually teaches anything. His class is easy, so if you want a blowoff class, take him, but if you actually want to learn something, I would avoid taking him.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:British Literature - Dr. Garrett is entertaining and is one of my favorite teachers that I've had at Baylor. If you keep up with the reading, getting a high grade in this class should be pretty easy. Tests and quizzes asked detailed questions, but were exactly what Dr. Garrett had told us to expect. Take Garrett, he's a great teacher and is one of the few professors that I still stop by and say hello to from time to time.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3374 (Harry Potter) - Seriously, this has got to be the best class at Baylor, and Dr. Garrett is one of the best professors. He is a kind, caring person who really goes out of his way to interact with his students on a personal level. For this class, we had to read all 7 Harry Potters (plus Beedle the Bard) and write a 2-3 page journal entry on each - I think most people got 100s on those. Then we each had a day where we had to lead the class discussion, and there was a short (5 page?) paper to write, in addition to a very easy final (IDs and an essay). I don't think I've ever had so much fun in class, or ever had such a fantastic set of classmates. We all got together one night for a Harry Potter movie party - people brought themed food and everything - and watched 7.1 and 7.2. And it was initially Dr. Garrett's idea. Even if you don't get to take him for this class, I'd still highly recommend him for any class. He's a truly wonderful professor.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2304 - He is probably my favorite professor at Baylor. He listens to his students and is an all around great professor. The class consisted of reading 10 novels with a journal entry (2 pages each) for each novel, a couple of electives (which can be creative as making a short film or doing art work) and a final exam that is very easy! He is extremely helpful and cares for his students. He wants his students to engage in conversation during his lectures, which i personally think is a great way in teaching the class. He does recruit from Austin and is only on campus twice a week but he enjoys what he does and I respect that about him. I usually don't enjoy English, let alone American Literature, but he takes this class to a different level that not only i liked, but the other students liked. GREAT PROFESSOR!!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3306 - Creative Writing 3306: Dr. Garrett is awesome! His class was so incredibly helpful, enlightening, and fun. He's one of the most down to Earth professors I've ever had. He genuinely cares about his students and their progress. You'd be an idiot not to take him! He talks a lot...A LOT...but he's witty and entertaining so it's not bad. (Most of the time) :P   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:4301 - Dr. Garrett is the on hand creative writer of BU and it shows. He's talented and seems genuinely interested in helping aspiring serious writers get to where they need to be in the field. He is almost always willing to help if you ask it of him. The only thing that is rough is that he's only on campus two days out of the week because he commutes, but for such a great prof, I'll deal.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Short Fiction - I loved Dr. Garrett! I am not an English major and I took this as a random elective and did great. He is so laid back and chill about everything. I learned a lot in his class and didn't have to worry about nonsense quizzes. Definitely take this class if you need a fun elective!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2304 - professor garrett is the best teacher to take if you have other time demanding classes to worry about! he doesnt have tests or quizzes. all you have to do is post 5 questions before the class. this class was awesome  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2304 - I'm not an English guy, but Greg really helped me enjoy English and especially his class. this is probably the first english class i haven't dreaded going to. you have to read a lot, but he selects books that are not only beareable but interesting. take him! best english prof at baylor i've ever had!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Am. Lit - Such an awesome and cool guy. The class is basically reading and discussion. He doesn't make you talk if you don't want to. His class will seriously make you see things differently and he chooses novels that are out of the ordinary, but still keeps a few traditional classics. His class is a lot of fun and I would take him every semester if I could. He's also a published author. There are only two tests, a midterm and a final and they're easy. Take him if you can!!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2304 - This was my favorite class at Baylor so far. He is an amazing teacher and a great guy in general. He wants his students to enjoy his class and learn the information. If you show that you are interested, he will help you out with whatever you need. Every teacher should be like this guy. Wonderful.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ENG 2304 - Dr. Garrett is one of the best teachers. I really enjoyed taking his class. He selects various types of books to read for the semester. Some are good/interesting and some are books you would have never read on your own. But the class discussion is helpful. The exams were were short answer and essay. Not hard at all, and you know the essay question in advanced so that you can prepare for it. There were no papers or book reports, just 3 elective projects that are all due at the same time. I highly recommend him. He's a great guy, very laid back, and he loves and cares for his students.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2304 - Dr. Garret is a great teacher. Tests are a good representation of what is discussed in class. Class discussions every day and creative assignments are assigned in which you have many options. If you are going to take 2304 take him!! He is an awesome teacher.   - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:Dr. Garrett's class is awesome. Real cool professor and is down to earth unlike some others. No quizes over the readings but there are 2 large writing assignnments. He is a Pulitzer Prize nominee and he is still a writer so he is gone a lot. If you need an english class and he is available, definatly take him.

Comments:Dr. Greg's the BEST! If you need ANY English classes, see if Dr. Greg's teaching it. I had him for Thinking & Writing and Amer. Lit. The only reason his availability is a 3 is b/c he lives in Austin.
