Comments:1321 - She literally cannot teach. Idk why she hasn’t been fired yet. Her “lectures” would be videos from other professors since she’s so lazy. Don’t waste your time and hard work because it won’t pay off with her.  - Grade In Class:DROP

Comments:1309 - Professor Gwynn is extremely intelligent in her field. Her class notes and examples were okay, but she would go a bit fast at times. She is very open to helping students during office hours. Although her class notes can sometimes be unclear, she is extremely helpful one-on-one. Disclaimer - your interpretation of class notes depends on how much math you have had prior to the class. If you bomb an exam, it's not the end of the world because she will take the average of all your test scores and replace your lowest score at the end of the semester. Lastly, she encourages students to get to know their professors, which is great!  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1321 - I took professor Gwynn in my first semester at Baylor, and took Calc before taking precalc because of the program I am in. I struggled with it and thought it was due to the teaching, but it was my study habits that I needed to work on. She sometimes goes a little fast in her lectures but she is the nicest woman and professor I have met in the mathematics department. After taking another professor here, I have realized how wonderful professor Gwynn was at explaining things and the way she structured classes. She is very intelligent and knows what she is talking about. She also let me stay in the class to take notes after dropping the course because it was too difficult (not at all her fault), something that not a lot of professors in this department would do. Thank you Mrs. Gwynn! You are awesome.  - Grade In Class:DROP

Comments:1309.08 - Mrs. Gwynn (Winters) was literally the only reason I passed BusCalc. I am not naturally good at math, and yes, I struggled a bit coming in. Honestly, the algebra is harder than the calculus (if you, like me, don't retain it well from high school), but after a few weeks of practice, you'll start getting better. If you don't put in any work, you will have a hard time in this class. I went to her office hours at least once a week, even if for 15 minutes, and it helped tremendously. Be an active student and really ask questions if you don't get it, and SHE WILL HELP! She tries to explain things as simply as possible to help us grasp concepts. Honestly, her class was REWARDING for me when I put in work and understood things. You will have to work hard. A good grade will not be easy, but Prof Gwynn is an amazing teacher that makes it bearable and easier. Take her if you get the choice! The calculus students she taught (us) made the highest grades on the final! She really preps us!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:MTH 1309 - I love Mrs. Gwynn (formally Winters)!! She used to be a high school teacher, so she understands how to teach. She explains everything in every problem. She posts blank copies of the notes so you can print them out and do them with her in class. She also posts completed copies of notes and videos of the class lecture. She has tons of office hours and welcomes you to come to them. There are so many resources for this class! The people who don't like her don't try and don't take advantage of her posts and office hours. PLEASE TAKE HER CLASS!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1309 - Professor Winters is probably the worst teacher I have ever had. She flies through example problems, explaining them poorly as she goes. I devoted 2-3 hours per day studying for this class, yet I still dropped. She teaches useless material and uses extremely hard examples that are unlikely to show up on the tests. She'll do a very challenging problem 5-6 times only to omit it from the test. Lastly, I went to her office hours 8 TIMES -- 8 FREAKING TIMES -- and she never learned my name. She brags about he calculus teaching ability, but it's a front. And if she believes, in her heart of hearts that she is a good teacher, she's gravely mistaken.  - Grade In Class:DROP

Comments:MTH 1309 - Although it is a hard class at times, professor Winters is really good at explaining the information they are incredibly nice and always open to help  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1309 - Although I have a low grade, Professor Winters is a great professor. She responds to my emails very quickly and wants me to succeed in her course. I have learned a lot from Winters. The homework is manageable and helps with the homework. She grades very hard but if you go to class you should be able to know what you are doing.  - Grade In Class:F

Comments:1321 - the most unapproachable teacher ever. she never answers emails!!! she makes you watch videos for "lectures" and then goes over pointless problems that do not pertain to the homework or to the test material at all. DO NOT take her if calculus is something you struggle with, I had to drop as I am not able to teach myself something this rigorous. i dropped before I even saw my first test score as it was NOTHING like the homework or notes.  - Grade In Class:DROP

Comments:1321 - She gave inaccurate study guides for the exams, did not explain the material well compared to what would be on the exam and was very hard to get a hold of when I needed help. The exams were ridiculously hard and unlike any of our quiz/ study guide material. I attended SI sessions, test reviews, studied two weeks in advance for tests and I still only received a low 70 on my highest exam grade. I received straight A's in the rest of my courses this term and barely scraped by with a C in her class. DO NOT RECOMMEND if you are not well-versed in calculus prior to this class.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1321 - This class is VERY HARD!! I had no prior knowledge of Calculus, and I only took Pre-Calc before this in high school. You have to watch her video lectures and take notes before class because she does not teach during her lectures. She just goes over the notes and people can ask questions during class. I felt like this wasted a lot of my time because her videos were usually 40 min and you have to teach yourself. She assigned online homework with about 40 questions every week over about 2-3 lessons. The homework was hard, but it had unlimited attempts so you can easily get a 100% on the homework. If you're stuck on a problem, she will help you and sometimes even walk through the problem for the whole class. Go to her office hours if you want homework answers. She offered office hours every day, and she was willing to meet in person. She also assigns a quiz every Friday with about 4-5 questions. Each question had 2 attempts. She drops your 2 lowest homework and 2 lowest quiz grades. Honestly, it doesn't really help because the homework/quizzes are weighted so low. Her exams are SO HARD compared to the homework, quizzes, and study guides. The exams were about 10-11 questions, and it took the full two hours for every exam. She picks the hardest questions. The good thing is that she gives partial credit, so always try every problem. She doesn't let you use your TI-84 calculator on exams, which I found annoying. She did allow us to use a basic scientific calculator on exams though. Her exams are online where it records you and you submit your pdf of worked out problems to the BOX app. She offered a few points extra credit for every exam. Sometimes it was in the form of working out a problem in class or it was an actual extra credit problem on the exam. Make sure to do EVERY EXTRA CREDIT she offers because she applies it to your exams that are each weighted 20%. The only reason I got an A in this class was because I payed for a tutor and met regularly with my tutor every week. I also watched "the organic chemistry tutor" on youtube. Basically, Ms. Winters did not teach me anything. She also is horrible at replying to emails. If you have a concern or question, you're going to need to ask her in person after class because she will not respond to your email. BE PREPARED TO TEACH YOURSELF EVERYTHING OR PAY FOR A TUTOR!!I'm very happy I finished with an A in this class, but beware, it was very hard and my most difficult class this semester as a pre-med.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1321 - Professor Winters is a really nice lady but I didn\'t like her teaching style. I took her over the summer and on top of being an already fast-paced class, I thought her exams were really difficult and the Connect homework didn\'t set me up well for success. There was also no SI which I find is really helpful for Calc. Don\'t take if you struggle with calc and might need time/extra help to understand the information.  - Grade In Class:DROP

Comments:1322 - Great Professor!!! I transferred to Baylor and my previous math credit didn't count for Calc 2 so I had to take it and hadn't had a math course in 3 years. It is a very difficult course, especially for having to take the course and basically relearning calculus from the beginning. Dr. Winters was extremely gracious with her time and easy to communicate with if any problems arose. She is extremely understanding and helpful!! Take her if you struggle with math, she explains things so well in class!  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1321 - summer online course here. This was done online and was a huge amount of work. She doesn't get back to you with emails. The Test are NOTHING like the practice questions she give, so don't do those. Her Test's are hard. Make sure you know factoring or else you will fail. The don't review trig so make sure to take pre-calc. If you took AP calc, take PRE CALC or else you will get a bad grade. Don't think just because you did AP you will be amazing, you won't i promise. Do not take her online. The exams are proctored and not easy AT ALL. The attentiveness of the professor was sub-par.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:MTH 1309 - Ms. Winters is very friendly, sets up her students for success so long as they try on their end, and enjoys making class fun. She posts extremely helpful print-out-then-fill-in notes for class. Upon return, she lets her students keep their quizzes and exams too, which is very helpful as well! Professor Winters also makes the most of her class time, beginning from the get-go and usually hanging a tad over the scheduled end of the class, but it's only because she really cares about teaching the material correctly and in an easy-to-understand way. To add to that, she also leaves no student behind and answers questions during class. Of course, she's very kind with answering questions after class as well. Overall, she's very nice, cares deeply about her students and enjoys teaching what she does, isn't overbearing in any regard, and simply is highly recommendable to take if you get the opportunity. Oh, and her tests and quizzes are so achievable to pass-not to mention get an excellent grade on-if you just do the homework she assigns.  - Grade In Class:D

Comments:1309 - BusCal (COVID19): Great person, not a great teacher outside of explaining the material. She grades everything aggressively, didn't respond to emails, and posted everything late during the online bit. She even combined the content of two exams into one and it was only seven questions. Half of these strict policies are simply the Dept. of Mathematics. Overall, if you have a good grasp of Algebra and Pre-Cal, you will get a B minimum.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1322 - She is a really good teacher and the only thing keeping teaching ability from being 5 is that when we went online she became not as good. She has very little scheduled office hours and doesn't always respond to emails, but she is very helpful if you go to her office. Her exams are easy if you just do the homework and test review. Take her for calc 2 for sure.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1309 - I'm gonna be honest with you guys. I'm failing. I'm not kidding i have never done worse in a math class. I have no help and nothing helps my brain. she doesn't respond to emails. I actually suck at math but it's never been this bad. I cry every night. i'm not ok. do not take her. not kidding. please do yourself a favor. that is all. sic em bears.  - Grade In Class:F

Comments:1320 - Ms. Winters was helpful to a certain extent, but I felt like she could have been better. Some things that would be on the homework or quizzes, she didn't teach to us in class. A lot of times I had to rely on Chegg to teach me, which is crazy because I have always been really good at math. She did allow you to go into her office hours to check your homework answers, so it is easy to get 100 on your homework grades. She would give you partial credit on quizzes and exams if you worked it out as much as you can.  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:2235 - Amazing Professor!!!! She is so helpful and you really learn in her class! There is a lot of work involved. She grades your homework so you have to do all the problems. But in the end that really helps you! She is sooo sweet and helps you any way you need. The class itself is very difficult and the final is cumulative and hard, but she really helps prepare you for it! Her tests are difficult but manageable if you go through your notes and homework problems. Her tests are two hours at night, but honestly it really helps! Highly recommend her. She is the best math professor I have had at Baylor!  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:1321 - Overall I LOVED Professor Winters. She explained all of the information in a clear manner and really seemed to care that you understood the subject. Tests seemed very fair, not incredibly easy but she wasn't trying to trick you or throw curveballs, etc. Many of the test questions resembled questions from the notes, or from the homework problems. Homework is from the book and is departmentally suggested. There were rarely quizzes, but when there were they were helpful in gauging your knowledge. Overall I would 100% recommend Winters.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1308 - I am naturally very VERY bad at math and I always have been, that being said Winters did everything she could to help me. She opened up her office to me every time I didn't understand a topic (which was a lot), made helpful test reviews, gives students partial credit on tests/quizzes, and so much more. Obviously, I didn't do great in her class but she really did everything in her power to help me succeed(ish). I would highly recommend doing all the homework, she only grades it a few times the semester but it really helps, especially if you do it right after class.  - Grade In Class:D

Comments:1309 - Calculus 1309 was a blast with Professor Winters. This class is made up of 4 tests and a final exam plus a handful of homework/quiz grades. There is homework that is assigned each class but it is directly related to the material on the tests and the final exam. Completing the routine homework on time pretty much guarantees success. Professor Winters teaches material clearly and at a consistent pace. Excellent professor, very nice lady. Highly recommend taking Professor Winters.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:MAT1308 - Profesor Winters is one of the best math professors I’ve had. She is extremely eager to help and is an effective teacher. She’s always cheerful and excited to teach and makes math a little less painful than it usually is!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1308 - I went into PreCal SO nervous that I was going to do terribly, but thank God I got Professor Winters. She genuinely cares about everyone in her classes, and will answer any and all questions you have (never makes you feel stupid). We had 3 tests + a departmental final. We had 1 quiz and 1 homework check per unit, which pertained to the tests well. She also gives partial credit, which is very sweet of her considering how large her classes are. I 10/10 recommend Ms. Winters, y’all!  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1308 - Best professor ever. She loves her students and bends over backwards for them, teaches super well and fully explains everything. Her tests are exactly like the things she goes over in class. TAKE DANA WINTERS!!   - Grade In Class:A
