Comments:BL 3305 - The nicest professor you’ll ever meet, point blank. I took this class at 8am and this man would make it a point to greet everyone that walked in with a smile and a good morning, without fail. A normal class is usually a lecture, but it’s hard to even call it that with how lively and upbeat he is. He takes very complex legal issues and elements and does a great job to break them down to help them stick, whether it be through visual examples or all kinds of fun and helpful acronyms. He also is great about using examples from his own life so that we can relate better to the legal principles at hand. Structure wise, there usually isn’t any required homework that you have to submit, but if you hope to succeed, there is work to be done. This class heavily emphasizes working before class to be better prepared for the application questions that happen in class. He posts a module with clear instructions for what to do, which usually involves reading a certain chapter of the online textbook, completing study guide questions for that chapter, and most likely at least wrestling with chapter problems if they were assigned. Between the textbook and his Canvas files, he offers pretty much every resource you could ever need, as each chapter has a page of notes with all the legal specifics you need to know and a study guide with lots of good practice questions. There is usually an online quiz every other week over the chapter problems, but it’s meant to be a grade booster because you talk through the answers in class the day the quiz is due and you can take it multiple times. There are 3 midterms which are worth 20% each and the final is worth 25%. The tests can certainly be tough, just due to how many different small legal elements there are to remember for each chapter, but are very doable. They are multiple choice and usually ask you to pick the best option when applied to a hypothetical situation or set of facts. There are also 2 extra credit opportunities that can get you 2% added to your final grade. One of them is going to a legal website and writing 4 different page summaries of a specific topic and the other is listening to an oral argument of a Supreme Court case of your choosing and summarizing it in 4 pages. Overall, this class can be difficult just due to the volume of unfamiliar terms and memorization required, but I couldn’t recommend Reid enough because of how helpful he is. - Grade In Class:A |

Comments:3305 - Let me be the first to rate Dr. Reid. He’s amazing. He knows how to teach, gives examples all the time, always offers to help, and he’s overall the nicest professor at Baylor. It’s his first year, so he is follow Professor Agee’s syllabus. Blaw is hard but he makes it easy. There are 3 tests and a final. There are also readings everyday, work out problems, and a couple HW assignments. It’s a lot of information that they have to pile into one semester so beware the first test is over 8 chapters, the second over 9, and the last over 10 (final is cumulative). With that being said, I’ve never met a professor who is so willing to help, provide more resources than what we deserve, provide extra credit opportunities, and help you through one of the hardest classes in the business school. I highly recommend taking him!! - Grade In Class:B+ |
