*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:BUS 1350 - TAKE HIM!!!! The subject is boring by nature, but he actually makes the class not boring at all, and it’s pretty fun most of the time. His exams are not hard either. As long as you understand the concepts and know how to use basic Excel skills, you’ll be totally fine. He knows everyone’s name and is always willing to do everything he can to help you succeed in this class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BUS 1350 - Lapes is a great teacher!! There are two homework assignments that you have to do a week, but he goes through one of them in class with you and it is very similar, if not the same as the one you are required to do on your own. As long as you pay attention and actually do the homeworks, you should get an A. Assignments are super straightforward if you just follow along. Lapes does such a good job at making Excel easy for everyone and is always willing to help/ provide extensions if you are having technical difficulties. TAKE HIM - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - Definitely your best option for 1350, Lapes is so amazing and way more chill than the other teachers. I had way less homework than other classes, and still knew the material very well. He is so kind and teaches well. Tests much better than other teachers as well. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - Lapes is awesome, always available to help, and very forgiving if you demonstrate effort. Compared to other 1350 teachers I've heard about, Lapes's tests are more straightforward and fair, and the hw's are low-pressure and not particularly time consuming if you pay attention in class. Nothing much to complain about here, only the boring yet necessary material. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - Professor Lapes is the BEST teacher ever!!! He is so helpful! The best teacher ever. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:BUS 1350 - Lapes is a really great professor and person. One of the kindest professors I have met at Baylor. Don't get me wrong, this class was boring. I would usually put one airpod in just to get me through, but Lapes teaches it very well. I came in knowing nothing about Excel, having pretty much never used it before. But he explains everything very thoroughly and I found it super easy to follow him. The homework assignments are great practice for the exams. My only complaint was that there were essay questions on the exams, which I think is a little weird for an Excel class. Also, the multiple choice section of the exam was to be taken before the Excel section, and I would find it frustrating that the questions would require me to know specific names of things or specific orders to press keys for the MC questions. I knew how to do those things, but it was more like muscle memory for the keystrokes and as for the specific names, I might not know the name but I would know the logo and exactly where to find it. To me, if I can do the Excel perfectly, I should have a perfect grade in the Excel class. Maybe that's just me. But Lapes is great and he taught me how to do the Excel perfectly like I said, so no complaints there. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BUS1350 - Best teacher I have ever had hands down. You would be incredibly lucky to have him as a teacher-- if you can secure a spot in his class. He explains the material thoroughly and always prioritizes his student's needs first. He gives you "study guides" for the test and keeps the practice modules open until the day of the test (the only professor who does this). He is willing to meet with you at all times-- even right before a test when you're in panic mode. Best professor I've ever had at Baylor. Highly recommend. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - I love Professor Lapes. He is the sweetest teacher I had last semester and was so helpful to everyone. The class wasn't that hard and we had roughly 1-2 assignments a week. Using excel is fun for me so it didn't feel like a lot of work. You also have multiple tries on assignments and it tells you what you did wrong so your grade should be fine. The tests are half online and half on paper. They're a little challenging, but other assignments balance your grade a lot. Overall I loved him and his class, definitely take him if you can! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BUS 1350 - Mr. Lapes is one of the nicest, most helpful professors I've had at Baylor. This class can be challenging but he takes his time to answer all questions and help everyone. Tests are a little hard but read over his slides and the bolded terms in the book and you'll be fine. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - Mr. Lapes is truly one of the most caring and helpful professors. I came into this class knowing VERY LITTLE about Microsoft Excel, but throughout the semester Mr. Lapes helped me gain so much confidence and understanding. The homework and projects that he assigns are very helpful for the tests and are not just busy work. His goal is to make you think in an "Excel brain", which is very helpful. He is SO SMART, but when answering questions does not make you feel dumb at all. If you are able, TAKE MR. LAPES! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BUS 1350 - I took professor Lapes my freshman year and he is a very nice and caring teacher BUT I struggled a lot in his class. The work is not hard at all because it literally walks you through every step. The lecture however isn't helpful AT ALL. All he does is work on the homework during class and doesn't actually teach the concepts. The exams have multiple choice and written answer questions which wouldn't be a problem for me usually, but all of the work outside of the exams is on excel so it doesn't make sense to me that the exams aren't fully in excel. If you already have a good background in excel you will LOVE this class but if you aren't good at excel already then I DO NOT recommend this class especially if you are trying to get a 4.0. This was the only class I didn't make an A in freshman year. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:BUS 1305/1350 - MOST CARING PROFESSOR OUT THERE! My friend took this class before me and would tell me all the time about how mean her professor was. I had low expectations coming in this class because I expected the same, but he is so incredible. Lapes definitely wants you to succeed and grades leniently on tests. If you go to his office hours he will be more than happy to help you and maybe even boost your score. Take him!!! Sweetest man alive! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1305 - I took this over the summer and he does a great job posting video lectures that walk you through exactly what you need to know. The exams can be a little difficult but as long as you pay attention to lectures and read your textbook you will be fine. He’s very quick to respond to emails and always very helpful, so don’t be afraid to reach out. Would absolutely recommend taking Professor Lapes. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - One of the kindest, most genuine professors. Class is simple as long as you actually review the paper section of the tests. Could have gotten an A-/A if i had done so. He genuinely takes time to get to know you and is such a kind hearted man. Take him - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1305 - Mr. Lapes is the goat. He\'s a good teacher, a great guy, and a committed Christian. He opens up the course with a prayer and ends the same way. The course material itself was kind of a pain in the tail. I\'m not good with computers, so I shouldn\'t deter you; a decent amount of students did fine and understood everything. Our class had the highest certification scores for the MOS exam if that tells you anything (first class ever to have a 100% pass rate, if I remember correctly). There are worse classes, I\'d recommend Lapes. I think he\'s in the top 1, 2, or 3 professors in this class from what I heard from other students. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1305 - Professor Lapes was by far one of my favorite professors at Baylor because of how much he cares for each of his students. Business 1305 is generally kind of difficult because there is so much information to keep up with and to remember for exams. The homework is easy because you get 3 attempts to complete it and if you have any questions or need any help, professor Lapes is always available through email and wants to help you with whatever you are struggling with. He is such a nice guy and if you go in and talk to him to ask questions about anything he will help you out a lot. I definitely recommend taking his class if you have the option because while the class can get somewhat boring, it was worth taking just to know this professor. - Grade In Class:B
