Comments:1350 - Professor Prather is the most genuine, kind, purest, and FUNNY professor i\'ve ever had. Coming from someone who isn\'t religious and heard over and over again from friends on how hard christian heritage was, I truly feel that this was the best class Ive ever taken at Baylor. You have three map quizzes, 4 reflections (not hard), at home quizzes each weekend ,and 3 exams + final. You can find quizlets from previous students for his exams or just copy and paste his study guide into chat gpt and that should help. He is so understanding of situations which was amazing as I got sick prior to an exam day and he let me take it at home. He wants everyone to pass and do well in his class. He makes class go by so fast as he\'s hilarious and relates what we are learning to things we might be going through in life... BEST HUMAN EVER!!!! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1350 - Much harder class than it needs to be. Prather is a nice guy and very helpful, but this class is miserable. There is online quizzes every weekend that help to cushion grades as well as map quizzes and reflection papers we wrote throughout the semester. I never figured out how to study for this class. He would post exam reviews but they were always flooded with information and half of the stuff wouldn't even be on the exam. Good professor, terrible class. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:REL 1350 - Do not let the negative ratings discourage you! Prather is a great professor and has super interesting lectures. The workload seems like a lot at first, but as long as you take notes and go to class, then it is easy. It is obvious he cares about his students and will set you up for success!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:REL 1350 - I really enjoyed this class overall. The professor clearly knows the material and has a genuine passion for teaching Scripture. I appreciated how organized the class was, and it was easy to follow what we were expected to do each week. The lectures were engaging and did a great job of breaking down complex ideas into something easier to understand, even if you didn’t have much background going in. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - The quizzes and exams were online which was beneficial. He always went out of his way to make sure we understood and interacted with the material. Very humorous guy. Told all my friends to take him for heritage. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - Much harder class than it needs to be. An insane amount of readings assigned (hours upon hours of reading for each exam) and tons of assignments(even though the essays are fairly easy). Takes away time from my important classes and is honestly my most time consuming class. Dr. Prather is extremely nice and a great teacher, he just makes this class much harder than it needs to be. You'll really need to study for the exams, especially with the final being 132 questions. Save yourself a ton of time and effort and take another professor. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1350 - Literally why. I am a pre-med major and this by far has been the most time consuming course outside of my major. There is an insanely unnecessary amount of work and difficulty in this course with there being 7-10 chapters per exam, no drop, and 3 different essays that he requires. I don't understand why this course was made in such a way, especially for non-majors. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1350 - I literally do not know what these people are talking about. If your major is mildly time consuming, SAVE yourself and DO NOT take Prather. He's a nice guy and cares about his students BUT his class is an unnecessary amount of work and his exams are very hard. I am a 4.0 premed student and am STRUGGLING to get an A on his exams. I made 30 page study guides (literally longer than my biochem study guide) and knew it backwards and forwards. AND I was still getting 88s/89s on the exams. He has weekly online quizzes, map quizzes, reflection essays, and exams. He assigns TONS of reading every single night and does test on this. His exams are 75 questions and supposed to be a short essay as well, except twice he got rid of the short essay. This really bothered me because this was a grade booster if you didn't do that well on the multiple choice and he just got rid of it. He also makes the weight of the assignments increase as the semester goes on. This isn't ideal because I did the best on the first exam and this counts the least??? Also he grades his reflection essays like an english professor and will take points off for grammatical errors. Luckily I did good on the reflection essays so this balanced out with my exam grades but still so annoying. The only extra credit besides the meme competitions is a writing assignment where you could POSSIBLY gain up to 50% of the points lost on one assignment. But this is not guaranteed and he will grade it hard. This course is way harder than my friends in heritage with different professors. If you have another option, do not take him. Again, he is a nice guy a not a bad professor necessarily but is just doing WAY too much for a 1000s level gen ed class. (BTW I haven't finished the semester but I'm bordering an A and scared) - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - I absolutely loved Professor Prather, he really made sure to be everyone's friend in class and not just the intimidating religion professor. He started off our first class with the line "I know none of you want to be here but you have to be here for your Baylor requirement so I am not going to expect you to put your other classes before mine." He would have weekly meme competitions between the whole class for an extra bonus point on the quiz. He did give weekly quizzes at the end of each week over the reading/lectures for that week. The quizzes were not designed to trick you and if you do the reading, you are going to be fine. If you email him about a quiz or a test and explain that you have a super busy week, he will work with you to determine a good time to take it, I loved his class and his personality, he is just a good guy. I highly recommend his class for any incoming freshman or upperclassman trying to get their religion credits out of the way. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:REL 1350 - Mr. Prather is one of the best profs I've had here at Baylor, I really, really enjoyed his class. TAKE THIS CLASS if you get the chance. His teaching is so clear and he makes the subject really interesting. Tests and quizzes weren't too bad, honestly I thought they were fairly easy. You do have to write 4 reflection papers, but he is a pretty easy grader and just wants you to show him that you have learned in the class. There are readings for each class that can sometimes be a lot, but as long as you pay attention in lecture and take notes (on laptop, he talks fast!), you don't need to worry about doing well. He's a great guy, really cares for his students. Plus, there's a meme competition every week! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - I really can't find enough positive things to say about Mr.Prather. He is AMAZING !! take his class if you have the opportunity !!! I really didn't care much for the subject and thought class content was pretty boring but he made it SO INTERESTING he tells history likes its a story, which, really its is. He is super awesome and fun and kind!! he allows memes for extra credit, and yeah he's a little dorky but its because he is super passionate about what he does and REALLY wants his students to do well. So laugh at his jokes and participate in class discussion and you will have a blast. as far as academics go- take notes during lecture and he talks FAST so i would type out your notes. he also posts powerpoints and anything in red will be on the test so make sure you know it. he hosts study sessions which are INSANELY HELPFUL he tells you what to expect and how to prepare for it. Quizlets helped me out a lot and I uploaded some of mine from previous exams so maybe those will help but they were specialized to me so idk take what you can ig. but also put time into your essays. I'm a stem major and so i have never had to write an essay in college before his class so heads up and also just spend time (also Bible is capitalized- heads up) he grades essays pretty hard so anywho, put in the time and you'll do just fine !! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Heritage - Prather is such a good teacher!! I was somebody who struggled in Scriptures and I was really anxious about this class but he made the material easy to understand. He is such a nice teacher and is always available to help & truly wants his students to succeed. He gives papers and tests with almost equal weight, giving everyone a chance to do well. You have to do an online quiz on canvas every week but if you use your notes they are bearable. Take him if you can!! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:Religion - Mr. Prather was an awesome professor and I highly recommend taking his class. His tests were not too difficult and all multiple choice and essay that you already know the prompt for. He also had a meme contest every week for extra credit - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - Mr. Prather is such a great professor. One of the best I have had at Baylor so far. There are weekly quizzes, but they are all done online and due Sunday night. There are 4 reflections, and those same reflection questions are used again on the exams as the writing portion in addition to 50 multiple choice questions. The reading isn't too heavy, and he always goes over what he wants you to take from the readings in lecture the next day. He also offers quite a few extra credit opportunities, one being a meme competition each week. He is very entertaining during his lectures. Highly recommend taking him for heritage! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Heritage - I took this class as a Junior incase I ever had to transfer since Baylor's religion requirements wont transfer to other Universities. This is your chance to take the best Professor on this campus; you'd be foolish not to. Just show up to class, pay attention, and you'll do fine. Prather is very witty and engaging. As crazy as it sounds, this is my favorite class I've ever taken here. Guarantee you will not fall asleep. There is a quiz due every weekend online (not timed), 3-4 easy reflection essays with prompts like: What does Christianity mean to you, Do you believe God is male or female, etc. 50 multiple choice question test with an essay (the essay for every test is just a condensed version of a reflection essay.) - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1310 - I would definitely recommend Mr. Prather as a professor. He\'s super funny and chill and doesn\'t give out that much homework. He hosts review sessions a couple of days before every test and they are super helpful so you should definitely go to them. He does assign essays sometimes, but they don\'t have to be long and he grades really easy. There are weekly quizzes due every Sunday but all of the answers were either gone over in class or in the readings. He also has meme contests for extra credit haha. Definitely take his class. - Grade In Class:A
