Comments:MIS 3305 - Love Prof. Sullivan. One of the best professors I have at Baylor. She cares about her students and genuinely wants us to succeed. If you take her class, be prepared to take a quiz after each module. The quizzes were pretty easy; she lets you use a note. Exams were not bad either.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:MIS 3305 - She is a polarizing professor, but I thought she was amazing. She is highly structured and a strict grader, so be prepared to work for your mark. If you participate, the class is highly rewarding. I learned so much about AI ethics from her. She is a nice Christian lady who deeply cares about her students. Grading aside, the course format is fair: one easy quiz per chapter and 3 straightforward exams. If you hate strict grading, avoid her; otherwise, she is one of the best!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:MIS3305 - Dr. Sullivan cares about her students. I really enjoyed her class. The class was relatively easy and the workload was not bad. If you take her, make sure you follow her rubrics.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3305 - Avoid at all costs. She has no idea what she is talking about and constantly second guesses herself. You also cannot understand a single thing she is saying. Her course load consists of reading every week and an open note quiz every Thursday which was not bad. Her exams were not bad either. She is just a HORRIBLE teacher that should not be allowed to teach without knowing the material herself. She just reads off of slides every class.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:3305 - Truthfully, I don't know why her ratings are so bad; it made me extremely nervous to take this class. I have genuinely enjoyed my time in this class. She is extremely helpful in and out of class, she takes her time to ensure every student understands the material for the day, and she answers her emails very quickly. I've had a very difficult time this semester with some personal things, and she was so kind and helpful to me with my struggles. I think she is a great teacher. MIS is hard regardless of who teaches you. I'm not great at MIS, but she certainly made it a whole lot easier for me to understand. She provides so many videos and practices for the hard assignments, which really helped guide me through them. She is a very kind professor, always making sure to ask everyone about their weekend. I disagree with the fact that she grades hard. She grades based on performance. None of it is her personal opinion. Everything is based on a rubric. If you don't follow the rubrics, you won't get graded well. It's not her fault that people do bad. Just follow the instructions, and you will do well. (I'm leaving this review before we've finished the semester; I dont know my final grade, so ignore it.)  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:3305 - I personally had very little trouble in this class. I would recommend it to my friends because I think it was easier than some of the other professors. Every class, she would try to get students talking, which was a bit annoying, but she would mostly read off the PowerPoint. We had two small projects in this class that were easy 100's and then one bigger group project that was not very difficult either. Other than that there were chapter quizzes through the book website that were not too hard. The exams were fine, not extremely easy, but I scored A's on all of them. We did not get a cheat sheet at all. The only thing I was really frustrated with was the weighting of grades. Everything seemed to be weighted so highly that even when I was doing well on each assignment, I was still on the line of A- and A. Other than that, all I have to say is that she is a pretty quirky and loud person; she spent all class pacing around the room, yelling about computers at a very squeaky pitch. On one hand this was somewhat inspiring to see someone so passionate about what they do, but on the other, it would give me a headache. If you can handle a quirky professor, then take Sullivan, but if you would rather sleep through a class with a boring professor, do not take her.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:MIS 3320 - Of all the professors I've had at Baylor, Professor Sullivan is, without a doubt, one of the most disappointing. Before I give my reasoning as to why, I'll start with the very few positive things about the course. She often initiates conversations with students before class and will ask you about your week. Additionally, she is usually available through office hours if you want to ask her questions. She lets also you write a one-sided cheat sheet for each exam - which is quite helpful. That's all the positives I can think of, so here are the many... many problems I had with Professor Sullivan's class. Asking/answering questions in class is an important part of your weekly participation grade, and you will be graded on how much you contribute. This would be fine in most classes, but Professor Sullivan, despite appearing relatively friendly at first, can be very rude and sometimes downright argumentative if you answer a question in a way that she doesn't like. I once defined a term in her class, correctly but with a synonym, and she spent a full minute condescendingly explaining to the class why I was wrong - even though I looked in the textbook after class and was actually correct. Her attitude creates an environment where everybody is too nervous to answer questions, and it gets awkwardly silent. The silence also upsets her, and she will complain about how nobody knows the material. Another big portion of the grade (27%) involves a three-part, semester-long group project. I'll start by saying that each part is very time-consuming. It's very important to get a good partner for this because you're stuck with them for the entire semester and will probably need to meet with them a lot outside of class. Despite having a good partner, going to office hours multiple times, and spending 7-10 hours on each part of the project, my partner and I never received a grade higher than a B+ on our deliverables. This leads me to my next point. Going to Professor Sullvan's office hours is absolutely useless. She has a policy where she will only answer very specific questions regarding your deliverables. This causes meeting with her to sometimes be misleading. During our first meeting with Sullivan, she said our project looked good and answered all our specific questions. However, even though she said it looked good, Sullivan gave us an 80% on the project and ripped our submission apart. For another example of her unhelpful feedback, she once left a comment on one of my deliverables that just said, "Not sufficient". I still have no idea what about my submission was "not sufficient" and I definitely didn't want to ask just to have her yell at me again... Additionally, she once reached over my group partner's shoulder and deleted our work off his computer without asking. I found this to be not only an invasion of personal space but also incredibly unprofessional. Yet another issue I have with Professor Sullivan's class is the way she teaches it. Most classes are divided into two parts, about 70% lecture and 30% application. The problem with this is the variability. There were multiple times throughout the semester where Professor Sullivan lectured too long and forced me to work on the assignments outside of class. The problem with this is that about 95% of projects in this class are group projects. Again, you'd better really like your partner because you may need to schedule random meetings with them to make up for Professor Sullivan's poor lecture-pacing skills. Lastly, Professor Sullivan mentioned on multiple occasions how she was worried that we would all do poorly on her exams. I find this quite telling because it proves that she doesn't have faith in her students or own teaching ability. I won't tell you explicitly to not take her class, but I hope this evaluation helps make your decision easier!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:MIS3320 - This class is without a doubt the worst class I have taken thus far at Baylor. Professor Sullivan is extremely rude and unfair. Her teaching this class is truly like the blind leading the blind. I would rather get water-boarded than sit in this class every week.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:MIS 3320 - I wish I had taken it abroad when I had the chance, but here I am. Sullivan is a nice professor before and after class, but during, she can be mean at times. She’s a blunt person who will cut you off if you are immediately wrong or that she will be rude and not have a conversation with you at all if you disagree with her or try to explain your reasoning. Other than her personality, teaching-wise, she reads off of the powerpoints and does not further explain the concepts, just reiterates them. Every class, we have in-class exercises where it is a practice off of the three deliverables we are to do during the semester. These exercises are participation grades of which you’ll need to answer about five more questions online about how you participated in class along with doing the exercise. You get some points just for showing up, but the rest of the points depend on if you participated in answering her questions off of the powerpoint. So if you never answer her questions, you’ll always be missing a point. She has three exams, the first one being mostly vocab and the second is analyzation and application questions. The final is comprehensive. The weights of the exams and deliverables decrease as the semester goes on though. It sucks this way because at the beginning, no one knows what this class is about so we struggle the first two exams and the first deliverable, which are our biggest grades. She allows only one side of a piece of paper for a cheat sheet and a calculator. For the deliverables, they are time intensive and include drawing diagrams that seem like a creative and interpretive thing. Yes, you will get a different grade from your partner on the same deliverable and no, you wouldn’t get to find out why. Yes, there are people who get 100s on them and no, you wouldn’t get to know why, even if you have the same deliverable concepts on them. The first deliverable is creating use cases and drawing diagrams. The second deliverable are more diagrams. The third one is creating a fake website prototype and a presentation. Like I said, even though this class is an overload of work and time, there’s nothing you can do to study or get better for the tests except understanding what needs to be done of the deliverables. The TA is super helpful and I would ask them questions rather than Sullivan if you want to understand what’s going on. Also, so far, Sullivan is the only professor for this course so I would prepare.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:MIS3320 - This is a hard class no matter who you take. I’d take Sullivan for MIS3320, no doubt. The class is formatted to where there are no tests, just Celebrations of Knowledge (20 question quizzes) every other week or so. You get a full 8x11 cheat sheet for every single one so it’s easy to do well on those. Another portion of the class is on the semester-long project (Deliverables). Put in work and get a good partner for these. For the most part, she grades pretty fairly. The other portion is participation and class assignments. Every week, you grade yourself on how well you think you participated. Make sure to participate a good amount! Participation is about 18% of the grade. There’s only like 20 people in the class so it’s not hard to be one of the one’s who carries the class in that regard. Outside of that, she is a very sweet, Christian lady who truly cares for her class and will accommodate for you if you show that you care. There is a little bit of a language barrier but outside of that just put in effort and work and you should be good. The final is very do-able if you study and FULLY fill out the 8x11 cheat sheet with stuff from every chapter. I didn’t really pay attention in class outside of participating and I didn’t do the outside readings and was in a great position. Try to enjoy this class and learn from it, it’s a very useful and applicable class that translates well in the real world no matter what field you enter into.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:MIS3320 - It's like she doesn't know what she is teaching. The content comes from the textbook, but she assigns much of the courseload to demonstrate a way to build systems. If you do not follow her practices, she will diminish you after your design to tell you that you are wrong. "It doesn't work that way" or you "Could've done this differently". But was I wrong?? If you don't do it in the way she would you lose points. Not to mention, she grades without her heart.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:3320 - Do not take her. If she is the only available professor, wait until the following semester. Nobody can understand her, her exams/COKs/projects are ridiculous. She is super nice but that does not make up for the fact that the class is hell. Trust me, she is not worth it  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:MIS 3320 - Yulia has a Russian? accent which can sometimes make her hard to understand, thus making it easy to not pay attention in class. She has 7 COKs (Celebration of Knowledge - basically quizzes) with the lowest one dropped. I haven't gotten a 100 on any of them, so I would recommend actually reading the textbook for the COKs. For the group project, make sure your partner is good bc it takes up a lot of your grade and make sure to go to her office hours and email her to make sure each deliverable looks good. Each deliverable for the project has to look very similar to what she wants exactly for you to do well. She talks to students before class about their weekend and learns each student's name so that's nice of her :)  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:MIS 3320 - Dr. Sullivan has no real-world experience in the field of MIS. This is overwhelmingly evident when you take her course. She often tries to make vague references towards how we will apply what we learn in this class in careers in MIS, but when you start asking deeper questions, she often hits with passive-aggressive answers trying to feign her intelligence and make her students feel stupid for asking. This is extraordinarily discouraging in a class where participation is weighted heavily.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:3320 - Professor Sullivan is a very kind woman. She is extremely knowledgable about the topics taught in this course and is very willing to help those struggling. This is not an easy course and she does hold you to a high standard of learning. Pay attention in class and don't slack on any opportunity to get points. An A is possible.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3320 - Honestly, she gets more hate than she deserves. The class isn't easy by nature, but she does help students out along the way. Her lectures are mainly from the slides, so take notes on those. There are no exams besides the final. The weekly quizzes (Celebration of Knowledge) are fairly easy if you pay attention in class and she lets you use a full page cheat sheet on them anyways. There is quite a bit of reading to keep up with but skimming it before class wont hurt. Projects 2 and 3 can be tough so pick a good group, but the rest aren't too bad. She is fairly lenient on grading projects due to their difficult nature. The final is 50 questions that are very similar to the quizzes. I will say she is much more helpful in person than over emails, which were pretty vague. She is a sweet lady who genuinely wants her students to succeed. I would recommend her.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3300 - An awful teacher. Abusive behavior toward graduate students, exploiting them, needs to be investigated and reprimanded immediately. She and Stacie Petter are the two evil twins in the department.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:MIS 3320 - Dr.Sullivan expects too much out of students for what the class is. You are expected to read before each class period and are expected to "participate" in class for a weekly grade. There is also no tests, but a weekly "celebration of knowledge" that is harder than it should be. Lastly, each week you are expected to self grade yourself over your participation of the week, and she will change the grade you thought you deserved. Overall, I say find an easier teacher but she is a really kind lady. Take her if you really want to engage in the material, I just did not prefer her class layout.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:MIS 3320 - Sullivan is extremely knowledgeable and has a lot of real-world experience, but she is a VERY difficult professor. If you take her class, it\'s endless reading assignments, huge project deliverables, and very high expectations. You\'ll know this course material inside and out, but she is one of the hardest professors I've had. If you take her class, make sure you ask for help.  - Grade In Class:B+
