Comments:PHP1105 - While this class is extremely easy, meets biweekly for 1 hour only, and is mostly online, the time spent in the in person sessions will be the most mind numbing hours imaginable. Do not take this class unless you are required to as a pre-med. The TA's teach the class, not the professor, and the assignments you get are more annoying than hard.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PHP2105 - This is a TA taught class (I won't mention my TA's name because he will be gone after May 2026). It's fairly helpful but incredibly light. No quizzes or tests. HW is journal entries and some MCAT prep for the most part. Take this information with a grain of salt because this semester was the first time the class was offered, so changes will likely be made. Don't worry about this class at all.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FYS 1399 - This review is for Sanker's FYS class "Crossroads in Medicine". Dr. Sanker and this class is great. We read a few books throughout the semester, but they are easy reads and all our quizzes are open book. He gave us a bunch of bonus points at the start of the semester on quizzes so it's easy to have an A. It's a very small class and he gets to know everyone. He likes to discuss real topics (esp more negative, nuanced, ethical things) and likes to go back and forth with students. He really likes AI and doesn't want to do papers anymore, so he gave us projects as assignments. But he loves AI, so he encourages us to use AI on our projects. It's a really fun class and easy A.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1399 - This class was largely discussion based. There were reading assignments outside of class, but they were very manageable, with common-sense quizzes over them the next class. The bulk of your grade comes from several papers and a research presentation that are daunting at first, but Dr. Sanker prepares you well for them and gives feedback throughout the process. He is a big advocate for AI and will teach you how to use it to aid in writing research papers without blatantly cheating. Low availability rating because he is not the best at answering emails, but he is overall an amazing professor that gives a large amount of extra credit and knows how to engage the class in witty but thoughtful discussion.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FYS1399 N11 - Dr. Sanker is a great professor and a great human being! Most of the low ratings on this page are about PHP1105 which is a course that is student taught using Sanker's textbook and required for all pre-med students, so those ratings don't reflect much about him (so if you are considering him for any course other than 1105, you should probably just disregard those ratings). I was in his honors seminar course "Crossroads in Medicine" this semester. Dr. Sanker is extremely intentional about his course design, and I could easily see the connection between the different texts we studied and conversations we had. His course is extremely relevant to the medical field, and we had a lot of great discussions as a class that led me to think deeply about the medical field. Additionally, Dr. Sanker is a great person to know. Not only is he a great professor, but he is also the head of the pre-health department, and he is connected to a lot of opportunities on campus. Just by being in his class and getting to know him, you can get a leg up on learning about various research and leadership programs. He even allowed me and a few of my fellow students to join a research group that he is leading. Dr. Sanker is also just a really funny guy. He started the semester off by having us each tell a story from our childhood, and he gave us each a nickname based on that story. And he used that nickname for the entire year to refer to us. He addresses very serious topics with a humorous but respectful tone. He also does a good job of discussing faith in relation to the topics at hand. The quizzes weren't too hard, and he let us use the book we were discussing during the quiz. There is a bit of reading, but it is manageable, and I found the books to be interesting. There are 2-3 major papers, but if you listen clearly to his directions and follow them closely, you will do fine. And if you can catch him when he's in his office and has time, you can even ask him to look over your paper before you turn it in. He is super interested in AI, so he encouraged us to use it to help on our papers.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PHP 1105 - Dr. Sanker does not teach this class - it is taught asynchronously by a panel of TAs using his textbook, which does not provide much insight past what a simple Google search could provide. The class's workload is a bit much for a 1-Credit Hour Class - reading a chapter of a textbook, watching about 2 hours of videos, completing a quiz, attending a 1 hour peer group session, and completing "competency log" activities each week. The peer group is the only helpful part of the class, as it does allow for you to form connections with other pre-medical students and an upperclassman mentor. The class is an easy A, but do be warned that the quizzes require you to read the textbook for niche information that you will likely not care about ever again.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PHP 1105 - Foundations of Medicine is just one of those classes that you have to get through if you want to continue on the pre-medical track at Baylor. It's really nothing overly time consuming although it is a bit more work than it should be considering that it is a 1 credit hour class. There are quizzes almost weekly and then we also have to get engagement points throughout the semester. There is also a midterm presentation and an online final. We also have peer-group once a week where an upperclassman will guide you through the weekly presentation, and it's a good opportunity to learn more about being a pre-medical student at Baylor. If you are coming in having no idea about anything to do with pre-med and the medical school and residency application processes, then the course is really helpful, otherwise it is a bit tedious.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PHP 1105 - For a supposedly easy class, there is tons of useless work. It's easy to get an A but you have to do so much stupid work and learn nothing for 1 credit hour. Most people end up switching out of pre-med anyways.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PHP 1105 - Can't really grade Sanker cause it's usually upperclassmen pre-health students that teach the class in small groups. This class is honestly useless as you can research the pre-med journey yourself. However, it can be useful if you're really curious about how med school application works, etc, and want to ask in person rather than search online.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PHP 1105 - One of the most useless classes offered at Baylor. Everything in this class you can learn in a ten second google search and it takes them one semester to "teach" it. It is an easy A class but you will want to drop out of Baylor.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1105 - This class is dumb. Absolutely useless for freshmen, was thinking about dropping premed because this class is so annoying. Going to peer group every week is such pain. I did not like Papa Sanker.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PHP 1105 - Very easy. Just do the weekly reflections/quizzes and skim through the online textbook. You can most likely survive without the textbook honestly and use quizlets found online. You meet with your peer group once a week which is super chill. Final exam is common sense too.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PHP 1105 - Easy class, felt a little pointless since it covered basic medical school admissions. Wasn't really a need to ever contact him since TA's run everything.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PHP 1105 - PHP 1101. Professor Sanker's class is a light workload and provides very helpful information about Pre-Med. We didn't really ever have Professor Sanker in a class but were in groups of Pre-Health Mentors. I loved my mentor, and it was very helpful. The class is a very light workload, and should be a very easy A.   - Grade In Class:A
