Comments:SPAN 3310 - She is a good prof. who explains the content clearly and states her expectations from the beginning of the semester. Her class is not an easy A, but she tries to help everyone. Make sure to talk to her during office hours and she will help you. I personally learnt a lot in her class, and if I didn’t get an A was because I didn’t put more effort into it due to my other science classes. She encourages all her students to participate in class, and that made the class more enjoyable. I think that she genuinely wants you to succeed in the class, but you have to do your part of the deal. I would honestly take her again if I had to take another Spanish class.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:3305 - Just don't take her. She's really sweet and tries to help but is confusing and doesn't stick to her word. She knows what she's talking about but isn't great at helping you understand. She also has random quizzes, like pop quizzes and if you miss one day that she has one, you can't make it up and get a 0. She doesn't drop and gives tons of work. Most stressful class this year and I'm in Pre-Med so Spanish being my biggest concern was not fun.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:3302 - Decent amount of work for a spanish class; however, she is awesome! Unlike other SPA teachers I have taken, she is straightforward and you know what is coming for the tests. She gets through material and it feels like you are actually learning. She definitely knows her stuff and is a super nice person in general. I would recommend her!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3302 - This class was definitely my most stressful and I left her office hours crying multiple times. On Canvas, you can see the grade distributions for assignments, and I got the lowest grade multiple times. When I went to her office hours to ask about it, she could not explain why I got the grade I did. I ended up with an A-, but that was purely by the grace of God because I don't know how I managed that. For future Spanish classes, I will be avoiding her at all costs.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3302 - - Dr. Harkema was a really good professor. She made an effort to make everyone feel comfortable in speaking and engaging with the course content. Additionally, she met us at the level of Spanish we had so this was really nice. The final project (instead of an exam) was to either write a paper or make a podcast of any topic of our choice that related to course content. 10/10 would take this class again or any of her classes!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2302 - Harkema was friendly at first, but later changed throughout the semester. She gives out time consuming homework that does not even help you advance in the class and does not explain assignments properly.Always willing to meet, however she is not very helpful.There were rarely any rubrics, so you really just had to do an assignment hoping for the best. The quizzes were unspecific and points would be taken off with no reasoning.Very unorganized and one of the most stressful classes of the semester. If I could take it again, I wouldn't.  - Grade In Class:B
