Comments:FYS 1399 - Dr. Hinojosa is the best. Yes, he teaches an Honors course, so it is to be expected that you'll have a little bit of a heavier workload, but overall it wasn't even that bad. Almost all of the readings are interesting, and I feel like I learned more in this class than I learned in any of my others - and practical stuff, too, that helped form my opinion on migration in the western hemisphere. There are nightly readings - sometimes reports, sometimes articles, sometimes a couple chapters of a memoir (these were the longest, but they were also my favorite). We had a project and 2 papers along with 100 word responses to go along with each of the readings, but he gave us 5 free skips for those, which is a lot more than you'd think. He gave us all the questions for our final beforehand and is just a genuinely kind person. He cares deeply about his students, how they are doing, and since we were all freshmen, how our adjustment to college was going. This was one of my favorite classes with one of my favorite professors. Please take a class with Dr. Hinojosa - you will end the semester a better and more empathetic person than when you started.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2340 - Dr. Hinojosa is an absolute sweetheart. Fair to easy grader and cares very deeply about his students and wants them to succeed. His late policy is very reasonable so if you have a busy schedule you don't have to worry too much if you need to turn something in late. You obviously have to do the readings and pay attention like any other BIC class, but he is really good about making class interesting and facilitating discussion. Cannot say enough good things about him.  - Grade In Class:A
