Comments:PSC 4310 - The workload for this class is manageable, but the professor made the experience unnecessarily difficult. He is a very harsh grader and often comes across as arrogant and dismissive toward students. I never felt like he actually wanted me to succeed. Whenever I asked for help he was not helpful and could be rude at times. At Baylor, I’ve had professors who genuinely cared about helping students learn and succeed, even in challenging classes. Unfortunately, this was not one of those experiences. The class material itself is not impossible, but the professor’s attitude and lack of support made it frustrating. If you can avoid taking this class with him, I would recommend doing so.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:CSS 4310 - this professor is not it. he literally lectures with photos on his slides (like where did the information go buddy?) and makes the rest up. and he expects us to somehow become writing scholars on the essay test days (which he grades so harshly). personally would not recommend, absolute worst professor in the entire communication department (probably a nice guy but not a good professor). does not curve and has favorites (the office hour geeks) talks too much and calls that lecturing. gives very unhelpful guided notes, grades super harshly, and basically only gives good grades to his favorites. if you can get out of taking this class, you definitely should. try nagel, dehay, cunningham, browning or literally anybody else. and fun fact this professor has some very controversial views which he proudly expresses about christianity, the bible, and politics which are not conservative or baptist. but if you are a democrat, a liberal activist, or a fan of favoritism I would highly recommend this class. if your a bad teacher and have vocal views against abortion and make us watch videos with profanity in them, maybe you should not be teaching at baylor, just a thought.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:4310 - Please don't take this class for your own well-being. He does not publish study guides until the last minute, leaving you barely any time to prepare for the essay exam. Each exam consists of 5 short-answer questions and 3 essays, which means you have barely enough class time to complete them. He does grade them based on how well he likes you. He will only call on certain people during class because he has favorites. And you have 5 pop quizzes; the questions are oddly specific, meaning if you did not do the reading, you cannot do the quiz. Also, he does not accomodate for you missing a test, it does not matter the reason, he will just say "oh well that's why we have the optional paper at the end of the semester." The readings are also just terrible. So please do not take this class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:4310 - This is my favorite class I've ever taken at Baylor! Incredible professor who truly cares about what he is teaching and every one of his students. Class is composed of 3 exams and 3 attendance/engagement grades, so if you are present and active it is super easy. The exams are also short essay style, but you get the questions beforehand, and you get the opportunity to re-write a question for up to full credit afterwards. I have learned so much in this class, and it is truly such a blessing. I couldn't recommend this class or this professor enough. Take this class!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:4310 - One of the least valuable aspects of this course was the way the professor’s political agenda consistently overshadowed the material. It’s not that I expect every professor to share the same viewpoint as the majority of the class, disagreement is fine. But when the content being pushed directly conflicts with Christ-centered values and biblical truth, it becomes difficult to stay engaged in a class that’s supposed to be taught at a Christian university. Another issue was the lack of effort to build any kind of relationship with students. This class stands out as one of my more negative experiences at Baylor, because the public teaching persona and the private interactions didn’t match. Several times when I tried to speak with you, the responses felt rude or dismissive, and it came across like you didn’t really know how to engage with students who have personalities different from your own. Overall, the course felt more structured around your personal agenda than around the material, or the values Baylor is built on. I genuinely believe the class would benefit from being re-centered on respect, faith, and a healthier classroom dynamic.  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:4310 - Oh my goodness I LOVED this course. He is one of the most interesting lecturers and clearly cares so much about his job. I was scared to take a politics class in the middle of the election but he creates the most respectful and intriguing space to discuss the broad world that is politics. If you don't like to write you will hate his exams- 3 different times we had 4 essays that we had to write and had a week to complete all 4. Not a hard grader but definitely time consuming during those weeks. WORTH it and that is literally our only assignments besides an attendance grade!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:4310 - Dr. Winslow is the best! His class is very interesting and I would recommend taking it. One thing to keep in mind with him though is your attendance is 25% of the grade so I wouldn't skip too much as it helps in the end when it goes into your grade. His class is made up of only 3 essays that are supposed to be 12-15 pages long. You only get the prompts like 9 days before the essay is due so it is a little stressful. I feel he also is slightly a hard grader and reaching the 12-15 page mark is sort of difficult as the prompts are very straight forward and it's hard to elaborate further on some of them. He does give a make up exam essay that is also the same length and he gives you the prompt the first day of class so if you do bad on one of the 3, you can make it up. Overall his class was great but if you do not like writing or are bad at it I would not take him as a professor as that is basically your whole grade.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:3302 - I was surprised by Winslow throughout the semester and I would retake his class again if I could. This class is interesting if you pay attention and take good notes. He grades 3 papers and other than that you have no other busy work or quizzes. He grades the papers fairly and on the easier side. Taking notes and attending class are important to succeed in this class. Write down good examples and topics that are discussed to bring up in your papers- He loves when you are attentive in class and then show that attentiveness in your paper through in-class examples/quotes. He posts his lecture notes online but being in class is so important. He offers one extra credit paper to replace the lowest essay grade if needed. Take his class! It is the class I have learned the most in since coming to college. Winslow is a very smart guy and he knows what he is talking about.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3302 - Winslow spends most of class lecturing and expects you to take notes while he speaks. He doesn\'t allow technology to be used during class, so you can\'t take notes on a computer. There are only 3 grades in this class, so it\'s important to do well on all of the essay exams. I did not do well on the first essay, but once I figured out what he was looking for in a paper, I was able to finish the class with a good grade. I slacked off on note taking at the beginning, but I recommend taking really specific notes that will be super helpful when you have to sit down and write out the essay exam. I will also note that the essay exams consist of 4 prompts and he expects them each to be around 3-5 pages, so it is a lot of writing that will not be fun if it\'s put off until the last minute. Winslow is very smart, knows his information well, and gave good feedback when I went to his office hours a few times.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3302 - Winslow is one of the best professors I've ever had. His class is so interesting, and I actively wanted to participate. I studied abroad in Greece with him and it was the best experience ever. The only assignment is essays every month or so that take time, but if you take good notes in class its an easy B or higher.   - Grade In Class:A
