*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:1310 - The kindest professor. I loved his class and he made lectures into gossip/ entertainment. Exams are based off slides, which he tells you exactly what to study. Such a sweet, chill, funny professor 10/10 recommend! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:REL 1310 - Take him!! He is so kind and an interesting lecturer, he made a boring class interesting. The workload is not hard and his tests are difficult but he tells you exactly how to study for them. He is a genuine guy and a sweet soul!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1310 - Loved him! There are daily quizzes but you take them before class and they're so easy. Sometimes I would forget to take them the night before and would do them like 5 minutes before class. He is a really great guy! His exams can be a little hard if you don't study for it, but just take notes in class and you'll be fine. He is also extremely helpful! He had graded one of my assignments incorrectly and when I reached out to him about it he gave me full credit back. Take him if you can! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1310 - TAKE HIM!!!!! If you have the opportunity please take Prof. Mowry, he is so passionate about a class that everybody has to take and it is evident. He underlines everything you need to know for the tests on his slides and even made a colaborative document that everyone can study off of for the tests. I can't say anything bad about Mowry, he also is an excellent speaker so his classes are never boring!! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1310 - Professor Mowry is amazing. I don't even know where to start. If you are able to take his class, TAKE IT! His power point slides have underlined phrases, and that information is the one that will be in the test. The test is 70 percent the underlined phrases and the other 30 is based on Passage Identifications of the Biblical Texts we covered. All the Biblical Books are on the syllabus, and some are bolded, so you know what to focus on. Something that was a little bit annoying is that he has 3 weekly quizzes based on the readings and every quiz is due before class. But the good thing is that it is not a lot of reading, 5 questions, 8 minutes and he drops 5 out of the 35 we have for all semester. He has a midrash assignment that is with a group (you and other 3 people), and it is fairly easy that he guarantees an A is you do just the minimum. The first day he went and introduced himself one by one and asking on how to pronounce our names correctly. He has a sitting arrangement made on purpose so that he is able to learn our names. He offers extra credit for every exam (2 or 3 points added to the final test grade). He answers emails very fast, and he always wants to be there. There have been times where I have sent him emails and he responds within 2 hours, and he says "sorry for the delay" when in my opinion his reply was pretty quick. He is so kind and he is so involved in our feedback. I wish I could take him for heritage, but I don't think he will teach it so take him while you can!!!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:REL 1310 - He's genuinely such a nice guy. Extremely intelligent (sometimes I felt like I needed a dictionary in lecture haha) and loves his students. He has a 5 q quiz before every class based on the readings, a weekly critical question with one large critical question discussion, a bibliography assignment, and a one page paper. It's definitely a manageable workload. His tests are short and sweet, and exactly what he goes over in class, so there's no surprises there. He's extremely flexible with office hours or questions, and there were a couple times he had to make OH online because his kids were sick, but he's good with communication. I really enjoyed having him! I'd definitely recommend. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:Christian Scriptures - Take him if you’re able! I had him my first semester at Baylor and quickly learned that he was down to earth, approachable, extremely helpful, and will respond to e-mails very quickly. He made the subject easy to understand, and basically told us the important stuff from every lecture to write down that would be on exams (this was very helpful since his slides were very wordy). Weekly reading assignments made it easy to get a good grade in his class but sometimes covered a lot of material so be prepared for that. Success on his exams requires study time and preparation so make sure to study! Would highly recommend Mr. Mowry for any religion class, you won’t regret it! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1310 - THE ABSOLUTE BEST! I LOVE PROFESSOR MOWRY! Take him, I cannot stress this enough. He underlines what will be on the exam in lectures and is available pretty much whenever. He responds quickly to emails and is just all around a nice guy. Four exams, 20 multiple choice, six short responses, and 6 passage ID's. Those can be hard but he gives partial credit. Mowry also gives extra credit. There is a reading quiz before every class, but it is always on less than 10 pages, and they are very easy. Just make sure to study if you do not have background on religion. I did not do to well on the first exam but he was very helpful and helped me raise my grade. Once again, I cannot stress it enough: He is the best, TAKE HIM! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1310 - An absolute king. If you want a free A, a caring professor and an absolute beast take Mowry! Cannot recommend him enough, one of the best to walk the Baylor campus! Go to his office hours and just soak up the goodness he gives you. 10000000% recommend. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:REL 1310 - Professor Mowry is the most fantastic professor I have ever had. He is so kind, helpful, wise, knowledgeable, and supportive. He is so smart and considerate...i could not recommend him enough. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1310 - I love Professor Mowry! You have weekly reading quizzes, but they are take-home and 5 questions long. He drops the lowest 5 quiz grades too! You have a total of 4 exams (including the final). The final is not cumulative, so it is basically just a unit 4 exam. The exams are pretty easy. It consists of 20 multiple-choice, 6 free responses, and 6 passage identification questions. The multiple-choice and free responses are all based on the lectures in class. He underlines the material in the PowerPoint that you need to know for the test. So, as long as you write down what is underlined you should be fine. For the passage identification, just read the verses that are in the syllabus. I found that watching the Bible Project videos was extremely helpful for that section of the test. We also had a project near the end of the semester. We had to submit 5 critical questions throughout the semester, and at the end, we pick one and expand on it. We then have to find sources for our passage. He is super approachable and is always available during office hours. Before exams, I would go and he would quiz me which was super helpful. He responds to emails very quickly. He understands that this is a mandatory class and makes everything pretty easy. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1310 - Tyler Mowry was a wonderful, dedicated professor. You can tell he truly enjoys teaching and has a passion for the material. Whenever there is a miscommunication/conflict, he always rules in favor of the students. If you talk to him he's pretty lenient on everything. Yes, there is a lot of reading but unless you truly want to get a deeper meaning from this course you can skip some of it. For the most part the tests came straight from the slides we covered in class. The tests were multiple choice, passage identification, and short answer (like 5 word response short). Homeworks consisted of readings and 5-question quizzes after each class period. Prof Mowry truly cares about his students and wants to help them succeed. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1310 - A great professor tends to expand a lot on certain topics which might take away from class time. Easy workload there are three quizzes weekly, 3 exams, and one final project. You do need the textbook to pass though. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1310 - Prof. Mowry is probably the best teacher I ever had, seriously. He actually wants you to do well and will do whatever it takes for you to succeed. The workload is not too bad and he knows his stuff. This man deserves everything and more. TAKE HIM! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:REL 1310 - Very easy course and great professor! Daily quizzes may seem overwhelming, but they are actually quite easy (especially when you realize you don't really need to the do the reading, just skim it or use the book on the quizzes). Tests are extremely easy, during lectures he will tell you exactly what you need to know and doesn't deviate from that. Test is almost completely memorization, so good flash cards will do you well. Definitely recommend if you want a laid back, fun, relatively easy scriptures class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:11518 - he is very passionate about the class so teaches it in a well and interesting way. He actually wants students to do well and helps them out. - Grade In Class:A
