Comments:BUS 1350 - MOST HONEST RATING- Most embarassing college story for me, on her first exam she gave us 4o minutes in I had to rush out of the classroom because I got super sick and while I was outside leaning into a trash can she called in a sub and immediately came up to me and told me I needed to go back to my dorm and rest as much as I needed and she'll give me a retest. I told her I wanted to tough it out, which may have been a mistake because I got a 60 on that exam, which is ultimately why my grade is a B. Other than that, I did very well. But in that moment, she was incredibly gentle. And after that exam, I had no fear asking a question or visiting office hours, cause that was truly my most vulnerable moment. Ancira is kind. I am uncertain why people on BU Books say otherwise. I just finished my first year at Baylor and had Ancira as my professor for Excel. Here is the fair warning: this class is challenging! Almost all of the homework will take a couple of hours to complete, while some may take 45 minutes, and others may take 4 hours. The tests are also challenging if you don't do your homework, yes, that means using ChatGPT. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. If you are a student who is just looking to get by in the class in the easiest way possible, she might not be the most excellent option. But if you are like me and decide to attend a $200,000 university to learn. She is genuinely the best professor. You are basically forced to know the content to pass the class. She does a fantastic job explaining the content in class if you pay attention. It won't be easy at times, but overall, if you pay attention, you will understand how to apply it. I am currently wrapping up a summer internship at a manufacturing company, where they utilize Excel extensively. This is a crucial class for business majors, and I highly recommend Ancira for those looking to learn the material. If you would rather slack your way through, Ancira is not for you. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1350 - Here is the thing - she definitely is not the easiest professor to take, however, she is indeed the most helpful. If you just go to her office hours she will explain everything in detail. Her lectures are very straightforward, and if you do not understand anything, she always posts lectures immediately after class on canvas. She explains everything thoroughly especially since Excel is not necessarily an "easy A" course. Her exams are hard yes, but so is the material to understand. I thought she explained everything in the best way - and she offers, again, a lot of help if you do not understand it. Her exams are basically like the homework, so as long as you actually put effort in and try in her class, you will pass. Overall, she is very friendly and very helpful when it comes to teaching, and I would recommend taking. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1350 - Professor A’s teaching style was initially promising. She seemed friendly and engaging, but her rambling lectures and lack of clear explanations made it difficult for me and some of my peers to grasp concepts. While she excelled at Excel, her inability to articulate her knowledge hindered students’ understanding. Despite an 85 on the first exam, I got a 55 on the second, leading to fear and uncertainty about the final exam. However, I got a 65, and so many people failed the final that she curved the final 8 POINTS. Despite the curve, Professor A’s teaching abilities need improvement to become an effective Excel instructor. While I enjoyed the company of my classmates and thought class time was somewhat fun, I suggest seeking support from a study group when taking her course because you do not want to go into her class alone. Overall, if you have never used Excel before, or if you like to go through and take your time on exams, I wouldn't take Professor A. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:Bus 1350 - I got her randomly for my first semester with no knowledge, but quickly heard from others of her reputation for difficult test. The test were definitely difficult and get worse and worse. She explains things very well at some points then others it seems like she just wants you to know how amazing excel is. She will make sure you know if there’s an error it’s a user error. Practice is helpful but has a website grading your work and if you get the right answer but don’t do it perfectly how it’s wanted you’ll have to redo the assignment. She knows her stuff on excel, just how she test you and explains certain things make it very hard to fully grasp it all. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1350 - Lowkey worst class and worst professor for the class, she skipped many classes, so you have to watch 2-hour videos to catch up. She doesn't really help you understand the class and if you have no experience on excel good luck. Her office hours were the worst times, and she didn't really do anything during them. Her exams are harder than a mf and she doesn't help prepare for them. Don't think you're on top of things unless you can recite formulas and what they do, study yo ahh off. my lowest grade of the semester was bc of her. Lowkey enjoyed the class but it be way too hard. best of luck - Grade In Class:C
Comments:BUS 1350 - If you are here after randomly getting her as a professor, have faith. Her rating makes it appear that this will be an impossible course, but take heart because it is possible. Will you hate the amount of work, yes absolutley, however all professors give about the same amount so it is what it is. In class she starts friendly then you zone out really bad bc her voice does that, but if you can LOCK IN (like fr it is needed) then you might make it through this class. Yes, I did still have to teach myself stuff, and that is very frustrating. I would say that her availability is what her saving grace is. Although, she is sometimes condenscending while she goes over stuff with you, you at least get feedback. In conclusion, do not necessarily drop out of her class, but be prepared to be challenged. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BUS 1350 - Um, wow. This class might have been tolerable--but her voice made it impossible to lock in at all during class. Near the end we were flying through investment excel functions, taking no time to stop and talk about what was happening. It was bad. Take this class if you can handle failure and most likely a B. You do more work in this class than every one of your other classes and this is supposed to just be a sort-of pre-req for the business school. I've heard every other Professor from this class is super chill--don't take ancira. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1350 - This class was very difficult for me in the beginning, as I had no excel experience and the class moved very fast. However, Ancira did a great job at being available for her students via email and office hours. I attended every office hour and found friends to study with, which ultimately saved me. She was extremely patient and helpful even though she could be a little scary at times. Although this class was most difficult for me, I walked away feeling confident in my skills and knowing that I had learned so much more than I ever thoought I could about Excel. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:BUS1350 - She does the bare minimum as an instructor. She records lectures, so there's barely any point in coming to class. She leaves no time to ask questions during class. Most of this class just depends on whether you read the book in great detail or not. Do yourself a favor and take the other professor. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:BUS 1350 - Mrs. Ancira was a good instructor. I learned so much about excel in her class and I feel confident in my future business classes and career regarding excel. She is helpful in her office hours, though they are sometimes limited. However, she assigns an incredible amount of work in comparison to your other classes. This was first semester of my freshman year, yet my hardest course. There are typically two homework assignments a week that take 30-90 minutes to complete. These assignment are helpful in the learning of the material; however, her exams are substantially difficult. I believe she changed the curriculum this year to modify the tests from multiple choice to an excel file. I liked the first exam, I got an 85; however, everybody bombed the second. Utterly bombed it. I actually got an 83 with a 20-point curve. The 20-point curve consisted of a 10 point curve to every score, but also 5 points from turning in this piece of paper that was included in an email. The other 5 points were for my section specifically, since we turned in the most papers out of her sections. Make sure you read her emails. Luckily, I could pull off a B+; however, I know some people who had to drop Hankamer Scholars due to this second exam and many had to drop the course and retake in the spring. Mrs. Ancira did let us retake the exam, reverting back to her old method of multiple-choice exams, these are not easy though. Mrs. Ancira is not as bad as many claim her to be. I think she is a pretty good instructor, simply: her exams are relatively difficult and there is a substantial amount of work. Go to her office hours and know why you know things in excel, you really can't memorize excel to succeed. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:Software Apps - Homeworks are meticulous but doable. Exams are similar. This is not a blowoff class, but it's likely not the hardest course you'll take in a semester. You have to pay attention in class or you'll get lost. I really liked professor Ancira; she gets straight to the point and tells you what you need to know for homeworks and exams. - Grade In Class:A
