Comments:2330 - Class: Special Topics Museum Studies Professor Hafertepe is one of the most knowledgeable professors I have had at this university. His understanding of the material is clear. However, that was the main strength of the course. The readings did not feel very meaningful because they were rarely discussed in class, and when they were mentioned it was usually brief. There were also no quizzes or assessments over the readings, so they did not seem necessary for success in the course. Class sessions typically lasted the entire 75 minutes as well. The format was mostly lecture with limited engagement. For much of the semester, the lectures did not feel directly connected to how the course was graded. The entire grade was based on four field trip papers, each worth 20 percent, along with a 20 percent participation grade. Participation grades appeared to be given uniformly. Because of this structure, attending field trips was the most important component of the course, while regular lecture days did not significantly impact the final grade. Students looking for a class that is not especially difficult may find this course manageable. However, those seeking a more engaging or interactive classroom experience may not find it particularly stimulating. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:MST2330 - The class isn't bad, but it isn't good either. Dr Hafertepe is obviously very smart, but not a great professor; his lectures seem very rambly and lack structure. There isn't much engagement with the class; it's mostly just him talking. There are assigned readings and essays based on our field trips. The essays are very easy, and you really don't have to do the readings. If you want a boring class that'll give an easy A, this would be the class for you! The field trips are fun. - Grade In Class:A
