Comments:NSC 3311 - Dr. Bodet is actually so awesome. I have taken many psych/neuro classes by now and I can say with confidence that he is the BEST prof I have had so far in terms of teaching ability. He truly just knows how to teach in a way that gets through and it just WORKS. I found this class extremely interesting and exciting to learn about too, and you can tell that he also is passionate about what he teaches. He made Cognition my favorite psych class I have taken at Baylor. Also no "hw" besides a few questions on something called a "CTW" that is a cheat sheet you can USE on the quiz. Quizzes are also group quizzes which helps a lot. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3311 - I think I would die for this man. Cog with Tres was one of my favorite classes ever, if not my all time favorite. I learned SO MUCH and I find myself applying it to real life all the time! A terrible part of me lowkey wanted to leave a bad review just so that his classes would stop filling up so fast lol. But the truth is that Tres is absolutely awesome and anyone would be lucky to have him as a prof! The lectures are interesting, he's super personable, and the quizzes/CTWs are great for keeping you on track. The one thing I would change about this class is the exam structure; only having a midterm and a final made them both very daunting. However, he prepares you well for them and as long as you keep up with it, they are very doable. I 100% recommend taking Tres if you can!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3320 - Bodet is actually the most perfect professor I have ever had. I literally made this account to brag on how wonderful he is!!!! He is easy on the eyes. He makes boring content interesting and he is always willing to help students. There is a midterm and a final for major points. There are also weekly quizzes, and he prepares you well for them. If you pay attention, show up to class, ask questions, and do the CTW's you will be golden. He also gives extra credit at the end of the semester. He is so awesome, definitely take him!!!!!!!!!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:psy 3350 - loved this class! took dev psych with him and I looked forward to each class, he is very entertaining as a teacher and loves to answer questions. the class workload and quizzes are very fair and he wants to see you learn and understand his class. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:Cognition NSC 3311 - Dr. Bodet was hands down one of the best professors I have ever had at Baylor. If you didn't do well in this class you just didn't pay attention in class. I was super scared going into a class like Cognition, but this ended up being my favorite class of the semester. Dr. Bodet was willing to meet outside of class and answer any questions and never made you feel bad for asking. The weekly quizzes were not hard and we worked together to grade and fix them. He even gives study guides!! He is also super understanding to questions you think you got right and if you fight your case enough he might give you the points! He bases his teaching style on research that he has read and it works if you just put in the effort to show up and listen! He is also a great lecturer, super engaging! Highly recommend! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PSY3311 - I took Dr. Bodet (though he goes on a first name basis with students) for cognition and can confidently say Dr. Bodet is by FAR one of, if not, THE best, nicest, funniest, and most engaging professors I have ever had at Baylor. I couldn't recommend him more. 10/10 would take him again. His course format is 300 points: 100 from quizzes, 100 from the midterm, and 100 from the final. On the midterm, the average was an 80 and he offers 3-8 points of extra credit on it. It was a mix of multiple choice, short answer, and fill in the blank. He gives you a complete study guide of everything he will and won't ask about on the midterm and final (and he cuts out a TON of information and focuses more on big picture than small details). The final is the same story. For the quizzes, there is a quiz every week, but you get two tries on the quiz: the first you do by yourself, and then you take the same exact quiz in a group that is open note! Whichever one you score higher on is the score he puts in the grade book for you, so the quiz averages were very rarely below a 10/10 for the ENTIRE class. You also get two drop quizzes, so the 100 points of quiz grade are basically a free 100/100. There also is not a textbook in the course that you are required to read: all the material he wants you to know is the stuff from his powerpoints and his powerpoints ONLY. It was really nice taking an upper level neuro/psych course where I didn't have to ever crack the book open. Lastly, he offers you TWENTY points of extra credit for every hour of SONA research you do. That is about a 7% boost on your grade. This class was really relaxing and I actually learned so much in it. Dr. Bodet is relatable, funny, and makes learning memorable. If anyone says otherwise, they are just being lazy. I cannot speak highly enough of him, I made a bubooks account solely because I wanted to give him a good review. You will not regret taking Dr. Bodet! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3320 - Dr. Bodet only has a midterm and a final exam. This structure is so difficult. Personally, I'm someone who never performs well on the first set of the semester exams because I use that as a guideline on how to modify the way I study for the class. Those are always my drop exams. I didn't get that opportunity with him. Going to miss that A, anticipating a B+/B. His extra credit exists but he forgot to mention it and told us a day before, it didn't leave enough time for me to be able to do anything significant. Other than that, he relies on SONA credit heavily but there are very limited studies available. I appreciate his style of quizzes though. I love that we do one individual and one group quiz. It helps with learning. However, the "Critical Thinking Worksheets" are never useful. Being a STEM major at Baylor, and pre-medicine, I'm not very used to doing any style of questions except MCQ. His tests are a mix of fill-in-the-blanks & free response, a few multiple choice too. I struggle with that because I have not written a test of that format since high school. I also feel that his exams focus a lot on your ability to recall terms than understand concepts. This is why MCQ style is better, I think it creates more room for people who know the topic but aren't amazing test-takers. Baylor also tends to focus on MCQ styles for pre-meds because of the MCAT. I adapted to that style during my time at Baylor and this class has really drained me because of not following the same pattern. Other professors teaching this class only have MCQ style and have the regular 4 exams in a semester with one drop exam. I prefer that because this class is heavy on information so it's a better idea to break it into smaller chunks when testing. Dr. Bodet is a fresh graduate of his phD program and just started teaching, so I feel that he's basing this class off his personal experiences of things that worked for him from his classes in school. That is not everyone's style! I wish he accommodated for that more. - Grade In Class:B+
