Comments:BIC 2330 - I have taken two classes from Dr. Castrillon, BIC 2330 and BIC 2344, and I loved his classes. He is relatively new to Baylor and the BIC, which I found to be refreshing because he is not weirdly obsessed with the BIC like other professors. If you are not IN LOVE with BIC take this proff because he is genuine and knows that not everyone loves Plato or reads Nietzsche. (not saying he is an easy A but he is just normal about the material) He's a fair grader and outlines what he wants, but he really makes you think about the material. He gives handouts and has a guided PPT for small groups. Meeting in his OH is very helpful if you don't understand a subject- he cares about his students and wants you to do well. I would say that his score rating is much lower than deserved. He is very kind and understanding that we have busy lives outside his classroom. He always starts the class with a check-in and wants to know his students personally.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Social World I - Castrillon is an interesting guy. He is very knowledgable and competent in terms of teaching ability. However, I sometimes felt uncomfortable with how he instigates discussion in the class. He will directly ask students about their political stances or feelings on current issues. I feel that this often led students to disengage from classroom discussion rather than participate. I would consider him a pretty tough grader. The class averages on essays were around low B's, and he does not provide a rubric or many exact expectations of what he wants. However, he is a nice guy and I found his PowerPoints and handouts super helpful to my understanding of the material.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:2330 - Dr. Castrillon is a great teacher! His class is an easy A if you engage with the readings and put in an effort to understand it. Social World can be tricky, but Dr. Castrillon really does a good job of explaining it well. He is also very understanding of things that pop up and will likely work with you on late assignments if you let him know ahead of time with a good reason. Such a good guy, can't wait to take him again!  - Grade In Class:A
