*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:REL 1310 - He is new to teaching and you can tell but he has changed so much from what he has explained he no longer has many assignments you read about on the other reviews. I would say he still has his favorites and does only talk to them but if you reach out he will talk to you he's just a nervous guy. he is very open to feed back and also he doesn't speak fast at all I think he read these and changed he was a good professor and the exams were so easy. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1310 - Basher overall is a nice guy, however, he doesn’t know how to teach. He crams too much information to understand in each lecture which goes over the bell every class. He has 3 tests and one of them is the final (which isn’t cumulative) and the tests are just facts that he either didn’t teach on or went over once and never discussed again. He has you make a study guide for each test with no parameters or guidelines on what information to put on it yet expects it to be 8+ pages and then grades the study guide based on how good he thinks it is? So you get counted off to n the study guide and then on the test for the information you left off your study guide which isn’t helpful at all because you get feedback on your study guide after the test. I’m only stressing this because the tests + the study guides make up about 70% of your grade. He also does not round up. So if you have an 89.99 it is still just a B - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1310 - i liked basher as a professor he's funny and chill and didn't make his tests very hard. given that, he's kind of new to teaching and he might change how his class works so students can learn better. but anyways here's how class worked: gave us a lot of reading tbh but you can skim it esp if you've grown up in Christianity. if not you can treat it like a history class cause that's kinda how he treats it too even tho he is a Christian. he does short quizzes on the reading that are easy. in class he has slides and he kinda reads off them but he kinda also elaborates on it. he also has us make study guides before the test, they have to be 5+ pages long. that's the only requirement so he was kinda vague on what he wanted from us so if he docked a pt idk why he did it but i tried to have key terms, history, themes of books etc and make it detailed and the lowest i ever got on the study guides was 9.5/10. he also grades on participation (5% of total i think) and he has each student sign up to summarize a passage in front of the class. as the class went on a lot of students went into unnecessary detail and he always reminded us to be brief and summarize bc he wants more time in class to lecture. he is a professional yapper so we still learned new material the class before the final but he did not have much of it on the final. oh also his final was not cumulative it was just on the last unit. :) his office hrs are scheduled since he's a grad student and doesn't have an actual office. i never went cause i didn't know what to talk about but i'd suggest u go to get to know him and ask any qns. i highly recommend you take basher but if he doesn't fit your schedule no biggie. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:REL 1310 - REL 1310- Basher is a good professor if you want a minimal amount of work. The only work you have to do outside of class is a daily reading quiz which takes 15 minutes max and a study guide for tests. All the information on the tests are covered by the lectures or in the daily reading quizzes. If you go to class and pay attention/take notes you will do good on the tests. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:REL 1310 - David has potential, but being his first time teaching, the bumps were rough. It took him a while to figure out how to maintain his composure with students he disagreed with, but to his credit, he was met with some stubborn individuals. With some time, he could improve, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend him as a professor. His class is easy though with little work - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1310 - I had Basher for 1310 and since it was my first religion course at the university level, I truly had no expectation coming into this class. The homework, and most of the readings (with notable exception), were relatively interesting and presented an academic outlook on the Christian bible. There were a few moments he and I sparred on some opinions, sometimes I think we both may not have handled those times the best, but there will be times like that in all of life. The first exam was pretty difficult, the others, in my opinions were less so. Overall, I thought Basher did a good job in teaching objective, historical factualities. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:Christian Heritage - the worst professor ever. he has favorites in the class and only talks to them. the course load is insane, there is a 6-8 page paper. he constantly babbles and talks really fast. the test are awful and the averages reflect that. there is a lot of readings and if you have the chance to not take, do not. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:1350 - As you can see I dropped this course. He's the fastest talker ever and writes barley anything on the board. He gave us an option, as a class, to either have no words on the slides and he uploads them or he writes a bunch of words and will not upload it. He doesn't understand that students need references to go back on and study. He gives off the attitude that he has no clue what he is doing and just somehow got a teaching job. He pulls random facts as test questions and sucks at speaking. He takes participation points, you will not get full points if you're quiet. He expects you to answer questions even if this is your first time learning material. He doesn't really teach, he kind of puts you in groups and expects a lot of presentations. There's a debate.... it sucks. Again, he BARELY TEACHES. There are no quizzes but don't think that's a good thing because if you tank the test that he doesn't prepare you for, then you will fail. - Grade In Class:DROP
