Comments:PSC 1305 - Dr. Phillips is nice, and that's about it. She is a decent professor but not very engaging or interesting. My issue with this class, though, and why i dropped it, is her grading scale. Dr. Phillips assigns homework after every single class period (M W F) course as well as an additional journal entries every Friday. The problem with this isnt the difficulty of the assignements, it is the fact that they only account for 10% of our grade (5 & for assignments, 5% for journal entries) This means that the other 90% of your grade is test-based. There are only three tests, and she does not drop one or allow a final replacement, so basically, if you don't get an A on the first test its virtually impossible to get an A in the class. Although i know i wouldnt have failed the class, as a pre-med student i was not willing to let psychology, which is one of the easiest pre-med classes, drop my GPA while my friends who had other teachers didnt have to deal with this issue. Overall Dr. Phillips is not the awful, but i do not think that the amount of work you have to put into the class is reflective of your grade, especially when you factor in the fact that there is homework every single day. The average on her tests are mid 70s, which definitely isn't horrible, but again i dont want a drop in my gpa espically when i was already in a rigorous major.  - Grade In Class:DROP

Comments:1306 - Overall the teaching from Dr. Phillips was not too bad. She could not be available for personal reasons but I am sure she normally would be. She is very kind and engaging as well which was nice as the semester was closing. However she was my worst exam. It was extremely conceptual and the questions had me feeling as if I did not not understand the content so be mindful of that. I did not use the book once for her section because her slides are extremely detailed and she did not ask that many from the book that I heard from others, so the slides should get you through on a surface level.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:NSC 2306 - Everyone in the Neuroscience major is required to take this course, so it's really not too bad. We had 4 technique days which is where graduate students from research labs in the Psychology and Neuroscience Department come in and discuss their research. After each technique day, we had to write a 1-page response. We also had 3 exams during the semester, and the lowest exam was dropped. Then, we had a cumulative final exam. Additionally, we had a group project that spanned the semester where we would create a research study and then go through the process of writing an abstract and presenting a poster as if we had actually conducted the study. Overall, the class takes some work but is very manageable and not overly time consuming. Dr. Phillips is also super helpful if you have any questions or need feedback.  - Grade In Class:A
