Comments:4319 - Despite my grade, I did not enjoy this class. This was Dr. Phillips’ first time teaching Clinical Neuroscience, but she was boring, frequently read from the slides, and when we would ask questions, she was often unable to provide an actual answer, often saying that she would need to look into the topic further. There were three exams and a cumulative final including unit 4 material. No drops or extra credit provided. Exams covered an excessive amount of material. The pace of the course was extremely fast, approximately one chapter every two class periods. While this might have been manageable if exams were primarily based on lecture content, all textbook material was considered fair game, even if it was not discussed in class. One exam alone covered eight chapters. Study guides were provided but offered little help, as all content was testable. Exam questions were highly detailed and specific (including the final), making it difficult to gauge what concepts we should focus on. The learning objectives are not representative of the tested material. Overall, I did not feel that the teaching supported effective student learning.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1306 - Overall the teaching from Dr. Phillips was not too bad. She could not be available for personal reasons but I am sure she normally would be. She is very kind and engaging as well which was nice as the semester was closing. However she was my worst exam. It was extremely conceptual and the questions had me feeling as if I did not not understand the content so be mindful of that. I did not use the book once for her section because her slides are extremely detailed and she did not ask that many from the book that I heard from others, so the slides should get you through on a surface level.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:NSC 2306 - Everyone in the Neuroscience major is required to take this course, so it's really not too bad. We had 4 technique days which is where graduate students from research labs in the Psychology and Neuroscience Department come in and discuss their research. After each technique day, we had to write a 1-page response. We also had 3 exams during the semester, and the lowest exam was dropped. Then, we had a cumulative final exam. Additionally, we had a group project that spanned the semester where we would create a research study and then go through the process of writing an abstract and presenting a poster as if we had actually conducted the study. Overall, the class takes some work but is very manageable and not overly time consuming. Dr. Phillips is also super helpful if you have any questions or need feedback.  - Grade In Class:A
