Comments:MH 4361 - easy class and very eye-opening when it comes to money!! No exams just assignments and essays. At the end of the semester, there is a 15-minute final presentation. Dr. Thompson is easy grader and there are lots of class discussions! recommend for a MH upper elective. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:US Health Care System - Dr. Thompson is amazing. The class is a lot of information, but that's only because our health care system as a whole makes no sense. Dr. Thompson does a great job of bringing in both clinical experience and textbook facts to make the class super engaging. Everyone should take him! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:4382 - When I registered for US Health Care System, I honestly did it blindly. Dr. Thompson is a (semi) new lecturer in the medical humanities department, so there wasn’t really a bubooks rating. I’ll try my best to provide you with info about the class and Dr. Thompson :) First of all, if you’re going into the health care industry, YOU SHOULD ABSOLUTELY TAKE THIS CLASS. You will learn so much about our health care system and as well about other health care system (just a bit though; it’ll be informative to see how US stacks against other countries). A super interesting aspect of this course is that Dr. Thompson is actually a Family Medicine doctor at Waco Family. Hence, he will provide a great insights about currently being a health provider. Another important aspect is that he will bring in guest speakers occasionally in person or via zoom! He brought to my class other physicians and Dr. Emilie Cunningham. Concerning workload (probably the main thing you are looking for), I am sorry to be bearer of bad news. The homework is definitely quite a bit. However, it is essential for learning the intricacies of the health care system. Exams can be quite difficult if you do not read what is assigned. My recommendations are to read all material by its due date, pay extra attention to the vocab, but ignore almost all statistics and studies. Dr. Thompson is honestly a great professor. He does care about teaching a new generation of health care providers, health admins, etc. At the end of the semester, he even invited the class to Slow Rise where we got to enjoy the company of his lovely family! - Grade In Class:A
