Comments:1306 - Dr. Bennett is so sweet, but honestly it was kind of difficult to study for her class. She teaches well, and has her infamous keep/omit list, but there were so many times that I would study super hard for an exam and would end up having questions that she barely touched in lecture. She is sweet in office hours, but there were times when she would have to cancel her office hours, making it really difficult to see her before exams. Exams themselves weren't terrible, and the extra points she gives really saved me. Little to no homework, and will have random extra credit--DO IT. I did better on my ochem final than this final, but that is because her resources to study are little to none besides the slides which are hard to follow. She is disorganized, but I bet if you go to SI and do all of the extra credit, you will be fine. I recommend taking someone else, but if you have her stay diligent and you will succeed. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1306 - Dr Bennett is a horrible prof. Rather than teaching, she gives us coloring pages, art projects, and worksheets to do where she tells us to find the answers in the slides or on Google. She is also extremely disorganized. She gives us keep/omit lists for the slides based on what she wants us to know, but the lists contradict what we do in class and she will not clarify what she wants you to study. She also super passive aggressive and very unhelpful. I went to her office hours to ask for help, and she told me to go home and read the slides because helping me would take too much time (i was the only person in her office). She doesn’t respond to emails and has made various passive aggressive statements telling us to stop emailing her. The only positive I can think of is that her exams are easy and she offers exam bonuses, but it’s still not worth it. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - Mixed feelings. I love Dr. Bennett as a person she's very nice and funny. Has a lot of amazing stories and just overall nice to chat with. However, her class is kind of the opposite. She doesn't really teach or lecture that well. She will benetize things which is just summing it up in her own short and easy way. Which is nice but her exams are like a 180. There is a bit of homework which is just Pearson and it takes time. You would be needing to study a lot since she doesn't teach well. Even then her exams might eat you alive. I would study and study and study but could never go pass a B. She can be very unorganized a little like this post. Her course is exam heavy, and she does offer bonus points for the exam if you answer like extremely easy questions like "what did you use to study" or my favorite "draw or tell or say a joke". I would recommend her course if you already have a good idea of biology but if you don't then RUN NOW! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1306 - awful. she is a mess. gives u lectures that are 115-130 slides long, but says 'only study these specific slides' and gives u a list in class. super sweet lady but she is all over the place. exams are so specific u need to study like everything. - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:1306 - She's not the worst option, but I don't recommend her at all if you get a choice. But if you're forced to take her, you aren't doomed, but you will be putting in way more effort than other classes are. Her classes are SO exam-heavy and they are not only multiple choice, but free response too. You will be teaching yourself a lot of this class; she goes over some of what is on the test, but a large % of it is her randomly talking about some portion in the chapter that is barely on the test, and her lectures can be confusing because she is so all over the place. She tells you not to read the textbook and tries to give outlines and omit lists, but I found it more confusing than helpful personally. Her response times are SO HORRIBLE. I had to email her several times throughout the semester, and it took her a minimum of 2 days to respond for the few times she did, but most of the time, I usually never got a response, and I couldn't meet during her office hours. If I had time, I would try to talk to her after class, but she wouldn't talk, she would just tell you to email her and then never respond. Most of my friends ended with a B or B+, my final grade is mainly my fault but I don't think she was of help one bit. I had a personal issue come up where I had to take an incomplete for the semester and take the final the next semester, which is why I think I didn't do great on the final exam, and it tanked my score. I asked her for any resources, anything at all she could recommend to help me before I took the final, and she let me see my past exams and strongly hinted that some of those questions would be on the final, so I studied them like crazy and not a single one was lol I am not kidding. I had studied my notes, the slides, and portions of the textbook that the hw questions were on, and yet I still felt wildly unprepared for the final. She seems like a sweet old lady who does care and is genuine, but she has a really horrible way of showing it. She's really disorganized and honestly a horrible professor and needs to learn how to send a f*cking email. Overall, not a good idea to take her; you'll be better off with anyone else. - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:1305 - Bennett is awful. The first red flag was that she has taught at several schools before Baylor.... RUN. She "Bennittizes" her lessons and tells you not bother reading the textbook. She also encourages you to not do the homework questions (you only need 10 assignments out of 14 to get a 100 in hw) but she uses those questions from the homework on the exams. She gets many questions wrong (the correct answer is usually what she said in class and not on the ppt or the txtbk even though she does not upload recordings of the lecture) She does not add a curve to any exams but does do extra credit that is so easy. I wouldn't recommend her, even if you're a genius at bio. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:BIO 1306 - TAKE HER. She is a real person, prof, and understands life and isn't a bad person at all. She is one of very few profs that understand you have a heavy workload and that class is a breeze. If you actively take notes in lecture and review them before the exam you are guaranteed an A or B+ on each exam. If you like to skip class or be on your phone don't take her cause everything she says IN LECT is on the exam. If you are a visual person, she is the the one for you. She draws things out, super helpful. She likes to say what is on each exam so you are prepared. All of the questions are so fair and she always gives open ended with so much bonus. Now if I had her for bio 1305... idk how it would be but for 1306 it was great. Genuinely she is so great and I can see why people don't like her teaching style cause its different but it is a nice break from normal profs in STEM. She advises you not to read the textbook cause its confusing and addictive info not needed. Course is consisted of 4 lect exams and lowest is dropped, person assigemnts, group activities, and final. If you are an overachiever and want to boost your GPA and focus on other classes more please take her. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - TURN BACK NOW!!!!! her class destroyed my GPA. I think a middle schooler could have taught this class better. she is a very nice lady but a horrible teacher. do not take her class, save your self, I studied for three weeks for the second exam and it absolutely ate me up, she told me I must have not studied hard enough. so for the next exam I studied exactly how she told me to and used every resource and the same thing happened. I got demolished by the exam. her exams have nothing to do with what we cover in class. save your GPA and take someone else. (also the only grades that go in the grade book are the exams, so you fail one and you're done for.)(no drop exams)(no extra credit). - Grade In Class:F
Comments:1306 - Professor Bennet is brand new, so she is still getting used to a lot of things. I personally like her because she is smart and passionate about her subject. I think her tests are very straightforward and easy if you do the Pearson and take notes on the slide shows. She makes it pretty difficult to get access to a lot of her work however, because even though she takes out the slides she does not find important, and I believe those are not on the tests, there is information she'll go over in class and hopefully you were taking notes on it. I don't think she answers emails pretty much at all, and if you ask her questions at the end of class she almost always tells you she can't answer the questions now. She also has random, essentially art projects in class that she usually has us do the day before a test. She also tells us the information is important but will often collect the worksheets and not review them. Her tests are easy multiple choice and theres no homework. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1306 - I'm floored at all of these reviews dragging Dr. Bennett. She was one of the sweetest professors that I've had at Baylor, and she teaches content in a way that is easy to understand for non-bio majors. Her lectures are a little all over the place, but she emphasizes important things that will be on the test. There is one major group assignment, but all of the other worksheets and everything extra she gives out in class is not graded and is primarily for you to use to study, which I would highly recommend doing. If you pay attention in lectures, take organized notes, and at least look at the worksheets, you will do fine. The one complaint I have is that she doesn't give study guides, but she gives around 10 extra credit points on every test that are basically "what did you think" questions which more than make up for the lack of a study guide. In my experience, the people that complain about this class the most are the people who put in almost no effort and don't pay attention. If that's you, I question why you chose an academically rigorous institution to study at. If you're fine putting in bare minimum effort, you will pass this class. I highly recommend this professor - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1306 - I have seen several opinions on how people don't like Dr. Bennett as a professor, however, I believe differently. She is a very nice person and she makes the class fun and significantly easier from other professors such as Dr. Dean. She does tend to jump around quite often in her slideshows, but she gives you a "keep and omit list" to help you study. I also would HIGHLY recommend that you read the textbook. She says it's "TMI", but I found it very helpful to re-learn the subject material. She is very generous with bonus points on exams and extra credit opportunities after some lectures. You do still need to put effort into this class if you want to succeed, but I'm so happy I took her while also taking CHE 1302 at the same time! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1306 - DO NOT TAKE HEATHER. SAVE YOURSELF. She CANNOT teach so instead gives useless, unhelpful, high school worksheets. She "Bennatizes" her lectures to make them easier, but doesn't post her information. The textbook does not help. Her tests are terrible. She is so unorganized and all over the place. She comes across as a sweet old lady but in reality she does not care about her students. I have not learned anything, and have had to teach myself everything. AVOID DR. BENNETT AT ALL COSTS. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:1306 - ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TAKE HER! Dr. Bennett is one of the worst professors I have ever had. She does not teach whatsoever, she makes you do pointless worksheets, and she rambles on about her personal life instead of actually teaching biology. The test are hard, the FRQs are crazy, and I've never been more frustrated with a professor. If you want to get an A in the class, good luck. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1305 - WORST PROF EVER!!! If you like to teach yourself everything then you should def take her. She relies heavily on the tools on canvas and on pearson which is fine, but she has no idea how to use them. The homework was word for word questions from the text book, which we never used half of the time. The exams are hard and not at all what is on the powerpoints. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:1306 - Dr. Bennett comes off as a very sweet lady who wants nothing but the best for her students. However, in reality, she doesn't seem to actually care about her students and their ability to pass the class. She claims to "bennettise" lesson plans to make them easier, but then she does not post her bennettised notes nor the slideshows from person as she should. It is almost impossible to study for her class because of the lack of material she gives us. Her tests are nothing like her bennetised lessons, and we basically teach ourselves everything in small groups. If you can avoid taking her, I would really recommend it. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:Bio 1305 - Professor Bennett was one of the worst professors i have ever had. she hardly ever lectures claiming to "Bennettise" the subject, which simply means give her own take on it and not actually teach it. She is a incredibly sweet lady but she is not a professor. She does not give any extra credit or test reviews nor does she say what the test will actually be over. If you don't mind teaching yourself everything about a chapter and hoping it is on a test then she is the professor for you. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:1305 - Dr. Bennett is a sweet lady but I didn't benefit from the way she teaches. I felt that I had to teach myself on most topics and it did affect one of my exam grades quite poorly. She doesn't give any homework besides the chapter ones due but they are right before the exam. The only issue was that I had a failing grade for most of the semester because her person grades didn't align with canvas, so that was annoying. - Grade In Class:A
