*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:3325 - For Ordinary Differential Equations (MTH 3325), Professor Sheng's class was very manageable. He might not be very clear in what he is saying during the lecture sometimes, but I wouldn't say he can't teach. In terms of workload and exams, when I took it in Fall 2024, almost half of the grade weight was from homework assignments (graded for accuracy), and then the rest was from exams. For homework assignments, you would get one every week, so it wasn't overloading, but you wanted to make sure you had the right answers. Now for the exams. The exams were all open-note, so that helped a lot in terms of not having to memorize certain formulas, methods, and whatnot, and he does curve exams to get the average up if it was lower than he liked (most exams were curved a bit). Maybe he changed the way he does exams now, but that is how it was in Fall 2024. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3325 - Personally, I’ve had to teach all the material to myself. His lectures are hard to follow and honestly boring. The homework is doable even though we do only get two days for it. However the tests are definitely difficult. I got through the class but it wasn’t ideal. - Grade In Class:B+
