Comments:2208 - The class itself wasn't difficult, but he did not respect my accommodations. I have attendance accommodations because I have narcolepsy, and this was an 8:00am class with no other options for me. When I tried to talk to him about this, including opening up dialogue about if I can record lectures or other things, he shut me down and was rude, assuming I was just skipping class. The situation was so bad that I had to go to the dean of the music school because he would've lowered my grade past a B+ due to these absences, despite my in-class and out-of-class effort. He also made a rude passive aggressive comment, saying how people will use "mental issues to get out of class" and he glared at me. I felt this was completely unprofessional, as I continued to put my best work into his class, and he did not help try and understand my situation. His class is generally easy, however, and I did improve a lot in conducting aside from this issue. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1102 / 1109 / 1010 - Dr. Ivey is one of the best people I have ever met. He has a clear passion for both music and his students success - not just as an ensemble, but as individuals. He takes the time to ensure that he gets to know each student. His method of instruction during ensembles is very easy to understand, but greatly helps with developing one's musical skills. He is also just a super nice man - doing things such as ensuring that every student had somewhere to eat on Easter. - Grade In Class:A
