*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:MIS 3305 - Professor Smith is a very caring Professor that is still figuring out his teaching methods. He is fair about grading but will not release project/ presentation grades until the end of the semester (almost everyone does good). That being said, even though the workload is great (no assignments/ all tests, projects, and presentations), his exams are content heavy and can be specific at times. If you don't mind spending time memorizing the lecture slides you will do good. He also gives extra credit and it is clear he wants his students to succeed. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:MIS 3305 - Prof. Smith is one of the newer professors at Baylor. It was his first semester teaching the course - for someone who just started, he did a great job! Smith utilizes PowerPoints to guide his teaching & discussions. I personally enjoyed the fact that he would go into depth & give examples for every point that was displayed on the slides. As a person, he's very open to his life and experiences, which is something I truly value in a professor. Personality-wise, Prof. Smith is kind of nerdy, but what can you really expect from MIS professors? haha. In all actuality, it's clear he cares and uses his experiences to drive the class forward. He also takes a lot of feedback & tries to implement it as soon as possible, which has been really helpful (especially for our grades). Smith is willing to curve grades too, so use that information to your advantage. There's not much of a workload outside of class. The quiz questions are sometimes used in the exams as well. The more I've gotten to know him this semester, the more I've gotten to appreciate him and his class. Overall, I would recommend taking his class!!! He has a lot of ideas on how to improve for next semester, so I would take the rest of these ratings with a grain of salt. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:MIS 3305 - Professor Smith, was honestly the professor that made me change my major to MIS. He is very new at Baylor so he is still learning the best methods on how to lecture to students, but I can see he is so incredibly knowledgeable to the subjects that sometimes he forgets this information is all new to us. I did find exam 2 a little much due to how much content was covered on it, but he did curve it a lot which was nice. He truly tries to make an effort to get to know his students. Other than 3 exams, we had regular reading quizzes and homework for some grade buffers, along with 2 mini tests covering tableau, and SQL. which were a little chaotic to study for since he only did one lecture over each, and told each section different information. I would recommend friends take different sections that way you can collaborate from there. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:MIS 3305 - Information Systems - Pretty standard stuff from a new teacher. You can tell he’s definitely getting his feet under him and has trouble commanding a classroom. The material is incredibly boring to most students since MIS is a smaller major and the dry humor doesn’t always play well. He would benefit greatly from a no tech policy, as every class is spent lecturing from slides with very rare participative elements, so everyone spends the whole class on their phone/computer and are oblivious when he does want an answer to his question. Thankfully, the workload is very easy, as there is no homework at all and just chapter quizzes on Pearson that you can take twice and see your answers (so you can get 100%). The exams are not the worst even if you don’t pay attention, they are 50ish MC questions and are taken in-class on Lockdown. They just require you to hunker down and study a day or two before to learn the terms and go back to memorize old quiz questions. There is also a group project done and presented the last week or two of class, but is only worth 6% of your grade. Overall, an awkward but very knowledgeable and nice dude who you can do fine with if you try. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:MIS 3305 - Smith is not a bad professor by any means, he's just horribly boring. This is his first semester teaching (Fall '25) and it really shows. He's still trying to figure out how to structure his course, and he didn't give out any test dates at the beginning of the year. Instead, he has opted to tell us a couple weeks in advance that there will be an exam coming up. This isn't a big issue for me personally, but several of my friends have been stressing about this. The exams themselves aren't horrible. They're online, in-person, and all objective, with 40-50 questions. His workload is almost nonexistent, with the only assignments being 25 question Pearson quizzes due at the end of each week. I honestly don't remember anything about them though, because I completed all of them within the first week of class. He also has a group project due at some point in the semester, but I still don't know what it's about or what the requirements are. Overall, I don't think he's a bad professor, and it looks like this is going to be a blowoff class, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend him to someone either. - Grade In Class:B+
