Comments:BIO 1306 - The main issue with Dr.McLoud is that he is bad at biology, and unaware of conventions of being a professor. Poor with deadlines, instructions, and often does things that could be ethically contentious. He often makes mistakes, any attempt to talk with him about his mistakes he takes personally. Class is awkward but office hours are borderline scary. Usually if a professor is bad you can self study, but in this case his ignorance on the topic of biology and exceptionally poor organizational skills affect his exam making. Do not take him!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1306 - Overall, I found Dr. McLoud to be very hot and cold. Sometimes when I would go talk to him, he was very kind and helpful, but he slowly became kind of cold and rude to me and some people I know. I know being a professor and dealing with students constantly asking about grades and exams is annoying, but we are allowed to ask about these things. This class is managable if you're willing to put in the time. However, his quizzes are impossible. One time I studied a 70 something slideshow for a quiz and failed it, then the next unit I skimmed my lecture notes and did marginally better. I don't know what to tell you to do in this class to do well on those quizzes. Good luck. I don't think he's the worst person ever, but he can be icey at times and that is somewhat intimidating. His tests were easy, exactly like the quizzes. (although I do think he would use AI, or at the very least types like and AI. Most of his questions would include "From the Document" or "Recall") He allowed us to see our quizzes before the exam, so I recommend cross referencing the quizzes and the slides in order to study.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1306 - Dr.McLoud's teaching style was just not for me, because he didn't teach. He focused on memorization, his quizzes are incredibly hard, he goes on random tangents. The quizzes had me questioning if I even went to class or spoke english. You can tell he is incredibly smart in biology, but he cannot convey his knowledge to his students. I went to his office hours once, but I never returned because he would just repeat the questions. When I would ask why the answer I chose was wrong, he would say "it's in the slides". I did amazing in Bio 1, i got over 100% in all the exams, but I really struggled in Bio 2, not because of the content but because of the professor. Overall he is a really nice person to talk to and have a conversation with, but he is a horrible professor.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1305 - Dr. Mcloud tries to be nice and funny. I think his intentions are good. All his lectures are straight from the slideshow and he reads off it. He switched up his teaching method the last unit which really threw some people. The tests in my opinion were easier than the quizzes. It's multiple choice usuallt 50-60 questions. I didn't like that the quizzes were always due at different times or put together differently each unit. One time the quizzes opened at 1201 on a Thursday and they were due that night...there were like four. Studying for tests I just memorized the lecture slides but it would be beneficial to go more in depth on your own for future science classes.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1306 - Y'all are being dramatic. These people you are reading don't want to actually study for the class, and then they demand a curve. Yeah, the exams were difficult but expecting a grade is petty. There is a reason why some of yall got the grade you got, trying to demand a different one isn't going to change anything  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1306 - I loved Dr. McLoud as a person, but not as a professor. His lectures are hard to comprehend and often go into random tangents, and he is not specific at all about what may be on the exams. His exams and quizzes are all application based so it's hard to study for them as he doesn't provide much practice or supplementation. The quizzes are dumped on you with little warning and were often 3-4 quizzes due per week, around 30-40 questions each. The saving grace is that every exam was curved and none were particularly hard, and he has an exam activities section which is 30% of your overall grade and most everyone will receive 100 in that. His syllabus is extremely easy and forgiving, you really don't have to get A's on the exams to even get an A in the class. Super nice guy, but is not a great teacher.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIO1306 - These ratings below are a little harsh. McLoud is such a kind and openly Christian professor. He understands that he isn't perfect and curved almost every test we took. He will go around during class and initiate conversations with students that don't have anything to do with Biology at all. The activities, which are basically in class HW most of the time, are annoying but they are free points if you format correctly. Tests are easy to study for because they are all lecture based. Truth is, there are very few tolerable professors in the Biology dept and McLoud is definitely one of them. Take him because he is probably your best option.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIO 1302 - Dr McLoud is VERY nice. he's a girl dad and it shows. He is not very great at teaching concepts, but this class is really just memorization, and the activity worksheets are the majority of your grade (super easy and done in class). He is funny and if easy to make conversation with, i think he can just come off as short sometimes. he really is a kind and funny guy pls dont let these reviews scare you. this was an easy grade for a bio class and I only didn't get an A because of my own lack of care  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1305 - If you hate paying attention in class and would rather just teach the material to yourself then this class is for you. Dr. Mcloud is a nice guy and he tries to be encouraging in class, but he just does not know how to teach. Whenever I tried to pay attention in class it would just leave me more confused. I had to spend hours each week teaching myslef the concepts in order the pass the exams. His slides are 90% pictures with basically zero definitions or explanations, so if you aren't a visual learner, you're basically screwed. The saving grace of this class and the reason I am taking him again next semester is the activity worksheets. While they can be time consuming, as long as you check your work, you will get full credit. These make up for 30% of your grade which gives you a lot of room for error on the exams. The exams were definitely the worst part of this class. He changes the structure of every single exam, so you're basically going in blind. The first exam was based off the slides, one was literally copy and pasted from the quiz questions, and another sounded like he made it with AI. The quizzes are also brutal because he will post them on Sunday and you will only have the week to complete 5 quizzes with 45 questions each with no prior warning. He is also really scary in office hours and will basically interogate you while you're trying to go over an exam. Overall, if you don't mind teaching yourself and really want the grade boost from the activity sheets, then take this guy, but otherwise I'd stay away.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Bio1306 - Dr. Mcloud isn't the best or worst professor, and I don't think his course materials were good at helping us learn the info. Activities you do during class are super damn confusing and are weighed almost as much as tests. Instead of him providing which activities you had to submit, you would have to look for the activities on every slideshow and just hope you didnt accidentally miss one (-20% if you forget one, -10% if you forgot to write your name on any). He does kind of teach the coursework, and you don't need to read in the long textbook, most of the info is on the slides. you don't have any application question help other than his quizzes and the SI practice exams. His tests were terrible. He was being super experimental for all of the tests, resulting in unfair questions, ultra specific fill in the blanks, and a fat curve to make up for it which i doubt he'll do in future semesters. I feel like he'll be better after this semester, but I'd still be careful considering him. Hes also lowkey scary as hell in office hours.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIO 1305 - As a human being, I think he's pretty nice and humorous, but as a professor, whose job is to teach students, he's terrible. Take another professor, pls.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2025-12-14

Comments:1306 - Honestly, his class is not terrible but do not expect him to help. The first exam was similar to the lectures, but then he started pulling things from absolutely nowhere... just make sure your activities are correct because those will save your grade  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1306 - The worst prof I have ever had like genuinely. His exams are nothing like what he talks about in class and he is so rude. Went to his office hours once to just ask a question and he was so mean I almost cried when I left.. Quizzes do not help to study for the test because you can't view the correct answers so you don't know what you got wrong and they're in lockdown so you can't rlly study off of the questions outside of actually taking it. Overall would not recommend to anyone.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1306 - in he is a good prof, idk why people complain about him picking favorites he does not. Not much HW unless you procrastinate it all test are a little difficult and worded oddly but in all not a bad prof or guy, don't know people on here are upset, literally pulls questions from quizzes. love this guy  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1306 - Professor McLoud is one of the worst professors I have had at this school so far. His lectures suck, he doesn't respond to his emails, and he is the most inconsiderate professor I have ever had. It genuinely feels like if you don't kiss ass to him, he will make your life a living hell. Do not take this professor. I barely made it out with a B; first B of my college career. :(  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1306 - Mcloud is a terrible biology professor. He does not teach and uses activity worksheets you have to do on your own to consume class time. His tests dont align with what he teaches, and he gives no guidance on how to study. During office hours, he is snarky and aggressive. He is hostile, and doesnt create a good environment. He also assigns quizzes that are actually tests, before the exam but they are each 40-60 questions and consume your time. He is not the teacher for you if you want to deal with an aggressive professor, and you have to teach yourself  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2025-12-12

Comments:1305 - Dr. McLoud was genuinely the most unhelpful and confusing teacher I have ever had. He does not use the textbook and so the only information you can study for the assessments is his slides which are SO confusing and consist of 90% pictures with no explanation and 10% definitions. These are unimportant because he only tests on application which is nowhere to be found on the slides. Every time I tried to pay attention in class I left even more confused than before and decided that it was more productive to not attend class or just do other homework during it. Either way I would be teaching myself the material. All of my classmates agree with this. Dr. McLoud also never responds to emails and the only way to get in contact with him is during office hours which are not at a convenient time for anyone. The exam activities are graded unreasonably, he will give you 5 quizzes in one DAY, and the exams are very difficult to study for because they are not based off the textbook. I would not recommend taking his class, the only reason I have a B+ is because I have not taken the final exam yet and I doubt my grade will stay.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:bio 1306 - All he does is lecture at you. It would be fine if he was actually explaining things in detail. He is only really nice when talking to students that he likes. It is obvious when he doesn't really know a student by the way he responds to their questions (which is usually a passive aggressive, or defensive manner). He gives out exam worksheets that are the meant to be easy, but perhaps the most impossible participation grade you will ever get in your life. He is very nit picky when grading these exam worksheets, and things like not having a name at the top of the sheet will lead to you losing points. The worst part of the class was the inconsistency in due dates, as well as the format of his exams and quizzes. Sometimes they were based on slides, other times it seemed like questions were generated by AI. The exams were probably the worst part, as the format changed every single time.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1305 - Dr.McCloud is nice to the students he likes, but does not engage with most of the students. He yaps the whole class and does not explain the material well. He assigns activity worksheets. that are way to hard to access and submit, and takes off random points on them for no reason and they are weighted super heavy on your overall grade. He also assigns complicated quizzes with little to no time to complete them before the due date, and his exams are just the quiz questions copied and pasted into the exam. The exam material does not reflect what is taught in class, I did not learn anything in class I had to learn it all on my own. He also has very unaccessible office hours that no one can make it too.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1306 - Very nice overall but just yaps in class and doesn't actually teach, repeats questions back to you in office hours instead of explaining it and only has 2 office hour times which are crap and nobody can make them. Has obvious favorite and is mean to the ones who are not his favorites. Exams do not reflect the class material and are copied and pasted from the quizzes which he opens at the last minute before the exam, I was very good at BIO 1 and I struggled in this class bc of his teaching, exams and grading.  - Grade In Class:B+
