Comments:REL1350 - She such a great teacher! Responds to email very fast and has easy to understand lectures. Quizzes are easy and discussion post are good as long as you do the reading. Highly recommend her summer online course.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:REL 1350 - I have no idea why this woman has any bad ratings. You genuinely would need to try to fail this class. Exams are very easy, so much extra credit opportunity, she is always available to meet with students and is extremely helpful. This is the easiest class I have ever taken. Occasionally boring lectures, easy exams. She literally gives you cheat sheets for every exam and study guides with all the information she will test over. Take her.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1350 - Christian Heritage can definitely be a really challenging and boring class, but Dr. Smoak's passionate attitude towards the content made the class bearable. The exams can be challenging if you do not study (look over slides and quizzes) or don't pay attention in class. She gives a good amount of study materials for exams, and her weekly quizzes are open note, and you can take them twice to get the highest score you can. She offers extra credit so take advantage of it! it can boost your grade just in time for finals. I never really read the texbooks unless we read something during lecture, so renting the books is perfectly fine. Overall, the class was well structured, take her if you get the chance.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1350 - Dr. Smoak is very passionate about religion, and you can tell from her lectures. She can go on tangents about any topic, and so her slides don't really reveal all that she may test you on. However, as far as testing goes, I thought her exams were pretty fair. I was stressed, as we only had a midterm and a final, but a lot of the questions had pretty obvious answers if you somewhat paid attention in class. The final was all multiple choice, and the midterm was mostly multiple choice with some short answer. She also does reading quizzes that are a nice grade buffer and gives a lot of extra credit opportunity. Overall, I would recommend her over other religion professors here. Sure, she is not as engaging as others, but she truly does care about all the students and wants them to succeed in her class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:REL 1350 - Professor Smoak is amazing! I highly recommend her for Christian Heritage! There's no homework, all of the quizzes are open note, a midterm, and a cumulative final. On the two tests, she allows you to have a double sided cheat sheet, and she also gives out a lot of extra credit. Overall, she was a great teacher; she's very kind, helpful, and understanding. 10/10!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:REL 1350 - Dr. Smoak is very passionate about what she does and what she is academically interested in. Teaching this course, however, I feel is not what she would excel in teaching. REL 1350: The Christian Heritage is an entry-level, all-university required course that every student must take. Sections of this course can have up to about 50 students, such as in my section. And not every student will carry as much as a deep interest in the history of Christianity as Dr. Smoak does. She is an ok lecturer and on the soft-spoken side, probably better suited for a smaller classroom/class size so she wouldn't need to use a microphone. The course was structured with daily readings that were talked about during lecture and quizzes on that material, a midterm, and a final exam. Overall, each topic was clearly explained and I came away from the experience knowing more than I did before. Would recommend to those who do not require extremely loud and stimulating lectures to stay focused.  - Grade In Class:A
