Comments:CHE 1101 - I don’t usually write reviews, but this professor is honestly a pain to deal with. I’m a transfer student who already completed Chemistry 1, and I’m actually taking advanced classes, so this class itself isn’t difficult. However, I feel like she overcomplicates everything. At times, it feels like she’s on some sort of power trip. She sends redundant reminders, and her explanations and instructions are so lengthy and full of filler that, at some point, you stop bothering to read her notifications. If you’re not prepared to seriously suck-up to her, I wouldn’t recommend taking her class. Just go with another professor who will make your life a lot easier.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1101/1102 - I didn't have a bad experience in this class but I'm not surprised by some of these reviews. She's very nice but will not give you any leniency whatsoever. I know people with genuine excuses for not being able to complete the lab (like the website not working, or not having access to the login at the start of the year) but they got a zero on the assignment because she wouldn't let them turn it in late. That said, she provides supplemental notes and directions that tell you exactly how to do the lab and the TA handles the rest. The class is mostly busywork that takes way longer than it should. I only went to office hours once because I had a problem with the lab and It was not helpful at all. I think she wanted me to figure it out by myself, which is great but I would have appreciated a hint that wasn’t just ‘do the math’. Also make sure you double check the due dates for everything. For 1101, she made the pre-lab quizzes due an entire week before the actual lab. I know a lot of people who missed the deadline that first week but she still didn’t reopen the quiz for anyone. Still, her rules are all outlined in the syllabus and she adds some extra credit points from completing labs early. She’s a very direct person but she’s not cruel or out to get you.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1302/1102 - Her teaching is fine. Glad that she recorded her lecture, expect for the beginning of the semester. All 4 exam average was a 50%. Why? Around 20 questions total with each question takes off a big chunk of your grade and she tried to make it like MCAT style or something. You only have 1 attempt in class participation in aktiv and 2 attempt in TopHat.The homework due 3 days before the exam day, and tophat chapter is due next week. hey hey if it due early it will be dreadful. One time talking to her, she was thinking of making the due date early. :/ I don't understand why she have to lock the answer keys for the practice problems. She said she wanted to become like Dr. Dr. Klausmeyer. Glad 6 out 8 quizzes were in Aktiv (online/ 5/6 take at home). There are bonus questions in the test too that is worth 5 points while the final has 10 points. I think the final is easier than the 4 tests. The final average was a 75.59%. She dropped the lowest exam and 2 quizzes. There is 15 total bonus added to your final exam average: individual course evaluation, class course evaluation and signed the syllabus on the first day of class. Almost have the 15 but someone did not do their course evaluation. How to survive her class you asked? 1. Do the practice problems. 2. Do homework daily with ChatGPT and Google Gemni. 3. Go to SI as much as possible. 4. Pray and don't die from stress. I felt the chem lab final was easier than her lecture test. My TA was lost in the clouds. Very happy to have a good lab partner. To scare the class, she said if you fail the lecture, your lab will drop. I fear taking her upper class level since this level 1000 course is dust. You are cooked by her flames. #COOOKED# Emotional damage. By the way, this is an 8 am class every MWF.   - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1101/1102 - Meh. I didn't go to office hours a single time. Didn't email or anything. You can get a really good lab instructor (TA) or a really bad one. Mine were both good. I didn't have much of an issue with the class at all aside from that one lab report that had so much math it took my lab partner and I 3 hours to finish. The exam seemed scary, but the review she gave us was basically the test. I looked over it for like 5 minutes right before the final and I can confidently say I got an A. I can't attest to what kind of person she is, but she smiles if you greet her (?) so...  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1102 - She added a lab final exam (worth 25% of your grade) and made a 92 an A instead of a 90. If you email her kindly and ask a question, you will literally be degraded. She is very condescending and passive-aggressive. If you have a question, don't ask her.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1101 - You are going to have to take her no matter what, since she is the only teacher who is available for Chem 1 Lab. Despite her office hours, her availability is non-recognizable. I went to her office hours multiple times and still, nothing. she never responds to emails, even during her office hours. Although she makes an effort to teach students how to send a professional email, her emails are not to her own standard. Furthermore, even if you do get the chance to meet her face-to-face, she does not treat everyone with the basic respect, despite not knowing all of her students. Unless you are a Chem or BioChem major, expect less than the bare minimum. This is a student led TA class where the labs practically mean nothing. You will end up taking a final exam at the end for the lab that you will most likely fail since it makes no sense. The work is tedious at best, and with how much Labflow buffers, her syllabus is extremely harsh. Although the course is easy, just tedious, the professor leading the course can do a lot better.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1101-1102 - Honestly, she's a really nice person. But the labs are run so poorly. The first TA I had for 1101 was amazing, and shes explained everything very well. The second TA I had for 1102 was really just fine, he was just quiet, but helpful when you talked to him one-on-one. Lowkey smelled like pot, but idk. The directions in the notebook are not helpful at all, but the supplement notes and videos with them are very helpful. So, for the experiments, just use the videos. But the labflow. Idk why, but the 1102 are 10X harder than the 1101. The 1102 lab flow is one of the hardest and most stressful assignments I've done at Baylor. The calculations are extremely difficult, and there are many parts, calculations, and work that you have no clue about or have no way to know how to do them. They are not in the notebook or supplemental notes. Also, 1102 has a final exam, and an A is a 92, while 1101 had no final exam, and an A was a 90. Additionally, 1102 has only virtual labs, while 1101 has virtual labs every other week. I don't know if it's just for that semester or for 1102. Sadly, you gotta take a lab every year for chem, so you just gotta bite the bullet.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1101 - I HATE HER. she ltrly doesn't care about you at all. she doesnt grade the labs until they are like 7 weeks past the date that they are due, and it really messes you up bc if you want to advocate for a grade on a lab, it will have been something you did ltrly 7 weeks ago. The labs themselves weren't difficult but she genuinely made this class dreadful. If you went to her office to ask a question, you would literally be humiliated and degraded. avoid her at all costs.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CHE1301 - Genuinely avoid taking her if you can. I had straight A’s& B’s in every other class and a D+ in hers (i ended with a 69.3 and she rounds, but no amount of extra credit, which she doesn’t offer, or hard work would’ve convinced her to give me the one point) as a STEM major. She doesn’t teach well, she doesn’t do a great job at answering questions, she often has attitude in her emails whether you’re in her lecture, lab, or both. She’ll literally call you out in class if you emailed her a question that she didn’t like. Her tests were STUPID hard for no reason. I didn’t pass any of them nor did I even FINISH them. I would show my friends in other chem classes the tests she’d give and they were gobsmacked. She expects you to have the knowledge of someone with their doctorate in chemistry. It’s literally Gen. Chemistry I, and she made an already decently complicated college course even more ridiculously complicated. I’m sure people passed her class and i’m sure some people had no issue, which is great, but everyone I ever spoke to about her disliked her. Save yourself, try and get ANY OTHER PROFESSOR.  - Grade In Class:D

Comments:1101/1102 Lab - She replied to my email on time. Originally, her office hours are by appointment but now is walk-in. My TA, Nathalie Moro, was amazing. For example, she gave me another chance when all my attempts had been used up. There was no final exam, but CHE 1102 does. Why? At least it is 25% and lap report is 50%. My 1102 TA needs teaching reeducation.   - Grade In Class:A
