*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:1101/1102 - Meh. I didn't go to office hours a single time. Didn't email or anything. You can get a really good lab instructor (TA) or a really bad one. Mine were both good. I didn't have much of an issue with the class at all aside from that one lab report that had so much math it took my lab partner and I 3 hours to finish. The exam seemed scary, but the review she gave us was basically the test. I looked over it for like 5 minutes right before the final and I can confidently say I got an A. I can't attest to what kind of person she is, but she smiles if you greet her (?) so... - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1102 - She added a lab final exam (worth 25% of your grade) and made a 92 an A instead of a 90. If you email her kindly and ask a question, you will literally be degraded. She is very condescending and passive-aggressive. If you have a question, don't ask her. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1101 - You are going to have to take her no matter what, since she is the only teacher who is available for Chem 1 Lab. Despite her office hours, her availability is non-recognizable. I went to her office hours multiple times and still, nothing. she never responds to emails, even during her office hours. Although she makes an effort to teach students how to send a professional email, her emails are not to her own standard. Furthermore, even if you do get the chance to meet her face-to-face, she does not treat everyone with the basic respect, despite not knowing all of her students. Unless you are a Chem or BioChem major, expect less than the bare minimum. This is a student led TA class where the labs practically mean nothing. You will end up taking a final exam at the end for the lab that you will most likely fail since it makes no sense. The work is tedious at best, and with how much Labflow buffers, her syllabus is extremely harsh. Although the course is easy, just tedious, the professor leading the course can do a lot better. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1101-1102 - Honestly, she's a really nice person. But the labs are run so poorly. The first TA I had for 1101 was amazing, and shes explained everything very well. The second TA I had for 1102 was really just fine, he was just quiet, but helpful when you talked to him one-on-one. Lowkey smelled like pot, but idk. The directions in the notebook are not helpful at all, but the supplement notes and videos with them are very helpful. So, for the experiments, just use the videos. But the labflow. Idk why, but the 1102 are 10X harder than the 1101. The 1102 lab flow is one of the hardest and most stressful assignments I've done at Baylor. The calculations are extremely difficult, and there are many parts, calculations, and work that you have no clue about or have no way to know how to do them. They are not in the notebook or supplemental notes. Also, 1102 has a final exam, and an A is a 92, while 1101 had no final exam, and an A was a 90. Additionally, 1102 has only virtual labs, while 1101 has virtual labs every other week. I don't know if it's just for that semester or for 1102. Sadly, you gotta take a lab every year for chem, so you just gotta bite the bullet. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1101 - I HATE HER. she ltrly doesn't care about you at all. she doesnt grade the labs until they are like 7 weeks past the date that they are due, and it really messes you up bc if you want to advocate for a grade on a lab, it will have been something you did ltrly 7 weeks ago. The labs themselves weren't difficult but she genuinely made this class dreadful. If you went to her office to ask a question, you would literally be humiliated and degraded. avoid her at all costs. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:CHE1301 - Genuinely avoid taking her if you can. I had straight A’s& B’s in every other class and a D+ in hers (i ended with a 69.3 and she rounds, but no amount of extra credit, which she doesn’t offer, or hard work would’ve convinced her to give me the one point) as a STEM major. She doesn’t teach well, she doesn’t do a great job at answering questions, she often has attitude in her emails whether you’re in her lecture, lab, or both. She’ll literally call you out in class if you emailed her a question that she didn’t like. Her tests were STUPID hard for no reason. I didn’t pass any of them nor did I even FINISH them. I would show my friends in other chem classes the tests she’d give and they were gobsmacked. She expects you to have the knowledge of someone with their doctorate in chemistry. It’s literally Gen. Chemistry I, and she made an already decently complicated college course even more ridiculously complicated. I’m sure people passed her class and i’m sure some people had no issue, which is great, but everyone I ever spoke to about her disliked her. Save yourself, try and get ANY OTHER PROFESSOR. - Grade In Class:D
Comments:1101-Lab - She replied to my email on time. Her office hours are by appointment. My TA, Nathalie Moro, was amazing. For example, she gave me another chance when all my attempts had been used up. - Grade In Class:A
