Comments:PHY 1408 - Literally my goat. I actually thank this man everyday. He made me not hate physics. The way he let us use cheat sheets for the last two exams because the avg went lower than expected made my grade locked in from the start. Even without the cheat sheet, if you study level 1 and 2 problems from the textbook, you will be fine. He is very accomodating as well with office hours. Please take this man. I promise you will not even remember you are enrolled in this class, its that easy. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PHY 1408 - Dr. Park was wonderful for the summer PHY 1408 course! I t is is physics so expect to put in effort but overall her was great. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PHY 1408 - Here’s the thing. This class would’ve been ok, but the level of teaching compared to the exam questions… no thanks. I think if i would have just this class, and no other difficult classes, it would’ve been fine. His tests are all MC, only 23/24 questions, with no partial credit. He does give a formula sheet but it’s all of the long equations, not any derived ones that you actually use. He does not curve at all, only giving a SMALL opportunity for extra credit when the average for the exam was 65% and 55%. You’ll either do great or you won’t. Take at your own risk. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1408 - Summer course & I didn't pay a lot of attention tbh, so grain of salt. Summer: 2 exams, 1 final (originally cumulative but he changed it and allowed us a cheat sheet). All questions were multiple choice which was very nice. Gave us a couple extra credit opportunities but they weren't worth a ton. Overall Dr. Park was pretty cool and happy to answer questions; it actually seems like he enjoys teaching. Loved the demonstrations; tests were which was nice. Doesn't want you to fail but doesn't really go easy on you. I personally had a lot of trouble figuring out what some exam questions were asking, but that's more of a general physics warning. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1408 - He aight, i'm dumb asf and got a good grade. you basically teach urself from the textbook problems ;) - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1406 - You've probably heard that there is no good physics professor and that is mostly true, however, if there were to be an exception it would be Dr. Park. There were 3 tests (1 dropped), mastering HW, lab, and a final. Overall the tests weren't bad if you did the practice problems in the book. His lectures are boring and close to useless but he does take attendance so go. The mastering HW is also pretty unhelpful but it was worth 15%. The one downside about Dr. Park is that he does not curve nor give partial credit (even when the average is failing) but he did allow a cheat sheet for the final and exam 3. He is a really nice guy who is super passionate and very willing to help. I feel like I could have made an A if I put in more effort but overall I would take him over the other profs. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1408 - Park is a terrible professor. He doesn't curve even when the average on the exam was a 50%. He offers no extra credit. His exams are all multiple choice so no partial credit. His teaching skills are horrible. He's very unorganized and all over the place during lecture. I don't recommend him at all. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1409 - I would highly recommend taking someone else for physics 2. The average for every test this semester has been a D, and he does not plan on curving them whatsoever. We have no opportunity for extra credit, and a 93 is an A. The tests are all multiple choice with no partial credit. Take Endl even though she has a lower rating. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:PHY 1408 - Dr. Park is super sweet. He is always willing to answer questions and help you work out problems. He is kind of quiet so you have to pay attention. I read the textbook before class and he was really good at filling in the blanks that the textbook did not explain well. The masteringphysics is super easy just time consuming. Test are very easy if you work the problems in the back of the chapter for the textbook. He is good at explaining exactly what will be expected on the test. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PHY 1408 - Dr. Kenneth Park has completely changed since these reviews were written. EXTREMELY unhelpful and completely useless in lecture. AVOID - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:Physics1408 - Dr. Park is a super sweet professor. I never really paid attention in class and still managed to make an A in the second semester of Physics. I would highly recommend doing the problems in the back of each chapter for review before the tests. He is a really chill professor though! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1408 - I really liked Dr. Park. In class, he works sample problems from the book on the white board. Homework (he assigns MasteringPhysics for each chapter) counts for 10% of your final grade. The lab counts for 15%, attendance counts for 5%, and the rest comes from three tests and a final. Dr. Park is very kind, and he gave us extra credit after each test to raise the class average. Also, on the last test and final, he let us use a piece of paper with whatever we wanted on it. Tests were 20 questions, multiple choice. I would definitely recommend him for 1408, especially if you are only taking physics as a requirement for your major. Go Park! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1408 - If you just need an easy A take Park. If you want to learn physics/need to know it for the MCAT make sure you put in the extra effort to learn more than you need to for the exam. His test are mostly just do you know the formulas. If you do you will ace them. If you want help in office hours take someone else. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1408 - He's a good professor to take if you just want to get a good grade in the class. If you really need to understand physics for your major I don't know if I recommend him... It's pretty easy to get a good grade in his 1408 class with very little effort. He lets you bring a cheat sheet of notes for every test, and the final isn't even cumulative. Unfortunately, because I knew I was going to get to use notes on the test I hardly studied at all... So even though I did pretty well in the class, I didn't learn very much physics and probably won't be that prepared for 1409. But that's just me. If you're a good student he's not hard to learn from, and he's very available to help students who need it. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:PHY 3373 - What can I say? Most of the upper-level Physics course professors seem intent on book reviews, not novel lecturing. Read the book, and the lecture is an oral representation. Dr. Park's Quantum Mechanics II epitomized this: long problems and complex proofs (with some vital steps missing) dotted the board by the end of class and the students were none the wiser. But the problem is that this appears to be characteristic of many upper-level Physics professors. Dr. Park, however, is probably the most respectful, lenient, and humorous in the department, so plodding through Physics territory without him may not be wise. His tests are short and allow plenty of thought while his assignments are straightforward but, to use his favored word, quite "tedious" at times. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:PHY 1420 (Summer) - A truly inspiring professor, Dr. Park is well qualified. His tests are fairly easy and his utilization of Masteringphysics.com made an A on the homework not difficult. I took the summer session, so the material was imparted quickly, but his explanation of the information was simultaneously easy to understand and challenging. He is also a congenial man in class, and I recommend him without reserves. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1425 - He is a good teacher. At least one of the best you'll get here in Baylor's physics department. The class was one that was easy to attend because you could count on learning something trough the examples he worked during the lecture(he actually worked the entire example, not many teacher do that!) Homework should be an easy A since he usually gives you a week per homework set. He always says to work through example problems and the problems at the back of the book. This really helps because by the time you get to the homework you understand what's going on. The test he gives are very representative of the material he covers in the class. He doesn't expect you to be a super brain he allows both calculators and formula sheets. Why waste memory cells on things that you can look up? I wish all teachers at Baylor agreed with this. But he's amazing is very helpful when he knows the class is having a hard time with a specific topic. Take him and enjoy a good physics teacher while you can cause from experience they only get worse. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1425 - I enjoyed Park's class. As others have said, the homeworks are pretty easy because you have 15 tries to get each one correct. The only thing you have to watch out for is starting them on time...if they're due on a Tuesday night at midnight, don't wait until Tuesday to start, or else you might run out of time and not be able to figure out the problems. During his lectures he works out problems for you, similar to what is on the tests, but sometimes the test questions are way out there. He encouraged us all semester to work the problems at the end of the sections, so try to discipline yourself and do that--a lot of times, test questions come straight from those problems. Overall I think he is a good teacher and worth taking for 1425. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1408 - I took the class in the summer and it was the best decision I made at Baylor. Some people didn't enjoy him, but I thought he was great. Everytime I went by his office he was a huge help and really encouraged me. He made the final so easy because the class was struggling and it really helped out. I thought he was great!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1425 - Take him. Online homework, you get 15 tries to get the answer right, and sometimes its all multiple choice. you do the math, 4 possible answers, 15 tries... yea. tests arent hard if you're good at math/science/physics at all, which you oughta be if you're taking 1425 rather than 1408. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1425 - Dr. Park is okay for Physics I but not that great. His lectures were a bit hard to follow (but he gave us stretch breaks at the halfway point of each class!). The homework was electronically submitted for a grade, but you got multiple chances per problem. His tests were challenging but possible. He's a really nice guy and was very helpful in his office. However, I probably wouldn't have done very well if I hadn't already known most of the concepts from high school. - Grade In Class:A
