Comments:1412 - ABSOLUTE WORST PROFESSOR DO NOT TAKE. You will think he is so funny the first couple of weeks, but trust me his jokes will get old fast when you realize how ridiculously impossible his class is. He gives about 3 hours of homework PER NIGHT. He wasted 100% of class time going over things that would never be tested. On top of being a very bad teacher, he was beyond rude. There were several occasions where he would specifically call out students and embarrass them in front of the class. His office hours consisted of being insulted when you were clearly there to try and resolve your problems in his class. I ended with a terrible grade in his class, but have an A this semester, so that should show how bad of a professor he is. 1412 is meant to be a difficult class, but this was absolutely unreasonable and a terrible experience overall  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1412 - Hi yes you've seen The Office, right? Literally imagine 65 year-old Michael Scott. Teaching you Spanish. That's Bill Dooley. Fun class. Tests and quizzes can be difficult, just keep organized with it. Doesn't speak in Spanish the whole time, so if you're worried about that going in it'll be alright. Goes hard on pronunciation and generally getting you ready to speak the language. Would take again.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:SPA 1401 - I honestly don't even know where to start. Hahaha. Mr. Dooley is a crazy man, but he has honestly been one of my favorite professors at Baylor. On the first day of class I had no clue what I was getting myself into, but Meester Dooley actually made me want to go to class (mind you this was a 5 day class.) He is so strange that you just have to take him to see what I'm talking about. He talks to himself a lot and likes to make up words and use them as if they are common. If you like Spanish and are willing to put effort in this class will not be bad. There is homework every night but by the end of the semester you will know so much more Spanish than you did before. One thing I really appreciate about Dooley is that he focuses on pronunciation. Now in my Spanish 3 class I can pick out all the little things my classmates are pronouncing wrong. Also, you can do the online oral exams from home and you're allowed to rerecord yourself until you get it right. That was a huge plus for me. If you can get past how strange he is, you will learn a lot by taking him. And you will have a whole lot of stories to tell your friends.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1412 - Meeeester Dooley is AWESOME! He makes learning fun and is always happy to have you in his office hours if you need any assistance! Homework every night but it makes sense because you have class every day! He gives one practice quiz and then the real quiz so when you see the pattern, the class is much less stressful! I got a 99 on my first test but I'm pretty sure I missed more than one so he grades pretty generously. He will take off points if your handwriting makes words look misspelled though.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1412 - just don't take this guy. i had the chance of taking this guy at 9 or another man at 8 and i regret not taking the 8am. i dropped this class within the 1st week. there is an easier teacher so don't settle for this guy!!!!  - Grade In Class:DROP

Comments:1412 - I have no clue why everyone gives him such high ratings. I dreaded going to his class everyday. He did not teach very well and was not helpful when I went to his office. I asked him a question about a certain tense, and told me that he thought he covered the material. He also made many inappropriate comments that made the class feel uncomfortable. The homework load was about average for this class. It isn't supposed to be easy, but it shouldn't be as awful as it was. I don't recommend taking Mr. Dooley.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1412 - So this class was A LOT of work, but I feel like I did learn a lot of Spanish. It is very fast-paced with about 8-10 little online exercises per night. Senor Dooley has us complete our homework the night before where we learn new material. Then the following day in class we practice it. In class, everyone speaks Spanish and is called on to answer questions from the book at least once or twice per class period. Or in my case, he'll call on me and tease me in front of the class. After the first week or so, I learned to let it not get to me. We have quizzes every two weeks based on two units. The quizzes cover grammar (usually verb conjugations), vocabulary, and culture. There are two speaking tests in the lab using microphones and headsets. Therefore, the midterm and final do not have speaking sections. I found the tests difficult because in class we answer questions but do not necessarily go over writing paragraphs or sentence structure. I was sure that I would get a B+ but I think he liked me as a bright student (and he picked on me quite a bit) so somehow I ended up with an A. He can be pretty funny during class and you can tell that he's really smart. I can say that I respect him as a person. The class is just really fast-paced so it's hard to be creative with lessons.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SPA 1412 - Ok, I don't know why this guy has such a high rating. I have him right now for Spanish 1412. The class itself isn't all that bad...but Profesor Dooley made the class awful for me. I hate going to class everyday because I cannot stand him. He thinks he is soooo funny, but really he is just annoying and mean. He will ask you a question out of no where and if you don't respond with the perfect answer he will degrade you in front of the class. It happens to me on a daily basis. He loves to make people feel stupid. Also he is a very obnoxious Christian. Several times in class he has talked about how guys are supposed to date girls and girls are supposed to date guys. How this relates to Spanish, I don't know...He thinks he is a comedian and every time he gets in front of the class its like he thinks he's on stage or something. He is super creepy and says things about students' personal lives in front of the class. He talks about where my friend lives, where her dad works, and what she did over the weekend in front of the class...we honestly cannot figure out how he knows these things but its VERY creepy! I very much regret taking him for Spanish 1412! Find someone else who is more concerned about teaching than performing a comedy skit!!!!!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:SPA 1412 - Sr. Dooley is awesome! If you take his class you will not regret it. There is a lot of work to be done outside of class but thats how learning a language works. Professor Dooley is more of an actor/comedian than a Spanish teacher. He keeps you entertained and speaks spanish almost the entire class. You will learn a lot and if you have any questions he is extremely available. You can tell he really loves teaching.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1412 - "Meester" Dooley is awesome! He loves corny jokes and keeps class entertaining five days a week. You will not leave class each day without laughing at least once. If you're willing to put effort into the class, an A is attainable. Yes, there is a lot of work that needs to be done outside of class. The online workbook provides good practice for exams, and Meester Dooley grades them based on completion, so there is no reason not to make 100s. Daily quizzes consist of either grammar or vocabulary, so make sure to study. Go over what will be taught in class the next day beforehand. Keep up with Destinos episodes! Meester Dooley is almost always in his office, so shoot him an email, and I'm sure he'll be willing to talk to you if you need help. He is an absolutely wonderful professor, and he truly cares about his students. His class has strengthened my love for the Spanish language. If he taught 2310, I would take his course. I definitely recommend him.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Intermediate Spanish - Mr. Dooley is wonderful!! He is my favorite!!! He is hilarious and very helpful, sometimes his humor can be invasive but don't take it to heart he is a big joker. He was helpful to me. He is very intelligent. He speaks 6 languages!!! I love him. He does require a lot, but I wouldn't take it back for anything. He will make a big impact on your life, and in comment to someone else's comment, I think he is more like Robin Williams. He is crazy and great and wonderful. I couldn't ask for a better teacher!!!  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:SPN 1412 - Prof. Dooley is my favorite guy in all of Baylor. He is like the Spanish teacher version of Tom Hanks (the BU prof. not the actor). He is unbelievably sweet and funny (in a really really corny joke kind of way. He truly cares about his students learning the material to their greatest potential, not just getting us through a class. However.... he is EXTREMELY HARD. he grades very harshly, but this will teach you to learn things correctly really quickly. For example, he counts the whole question wrong if you miss an accent mark or if you misspell a word. this makes sense, but is still really harsh. he is always ready and willing to make an appointment with you to go over your quizzes and daily work, and ANYTHING else you need, even just to talk. When i got really sick last semester he worked with me to me caught up, spending hours of his time reteaching the lessons. He really is a great man.   - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1412 - TAKE HIM!!! He is the best spanish teacher EVER!!! Seriously, he teaches you and makes it interesting because he is so crazy and kind of weird at times, but still amazing! I had a pretty good background in spanish already but this class is still pretty easy if you do the work. There is a lot of work but a lot of it is optional, if you do the optional stuff it helps a lot im telling you! He gives you the questions for the oral exams ahead of time and you get to go to Dr. Pepper hour for class once each month. He is so hilarious, you'll love him!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1412 - Senor Dooley is THE BEST professor. The class is so much fun! He is a really really funny guy, and makes you actually want to come to class. He is always available for office hours, and when you go to him for help, he will stay as long as you need him to. His class is very helpful because it is almost all oral. Workbooks and lab manuals are annoying, but it really ends up benefitting you in the end. Take Senor Dooley's class if you can...you won't regret it.   - Grade In Class:B

Comments:SPA-1412 - Prof. Dooley is NUTS, but he's an awesome teacher! The class is more conversation than lecture, and he'll have you laughing at his corny jokes from the beginning of class until the end. He's not a hard grader, and his class is not hard as long as you do all the homework and at least look over the vocab right before the quizzes!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1412 - If you really want to learn your Spanish, take this man's class. He's extremely helpful, a little corny, but knows his stuff and how to teach it. I would definitely recommend Senor Dooley. Bottom line: Do your work, study for the exams (He basically tells you what to expect, and means it), and don't stress too much about the quizzes. They add up to 10% of your grade, and are easily trumped by your workbook and lab grades, which you can work on until you get a 100%. If possible, take any class he teaches.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SPA 1412 - Sr. Dooley is a great teacher. The workload will almost kill you, but it will prepare you for the next level of Spanish very well. Daily quizzes can be hard if you haven't studied. It's not easy, but accelerated courses never are.   - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1403 - Sr. Dooley is a great professor! He is now my favorite teacher at Baylor. His great sense of humor and passion for the foreign language made every class period enjoyable. He gives you daily homework, but it's not hard (just busy work). It may seem like a lot of work, but it's only because that's what the department requires him to teach, since it is an "advanced" elementary spanish. He gives pop quizzes (even though most of the time it's pronounced before hand), but it's not hard at all. His fill-in-the blanks and mutlitple choice tests are clearly explained prior to the day. He thoroughly goes through every part of the exam. The examples that he gives you are very similar to the actual exam. I would definitely recommend him for Spanish!   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SPA 1403 - I loved Mr. Dooley. He is really corny but he is trying to make spanish fun and he's so good at it. Especially since there is nothing worse than spanish everyday at 8 in the morning. He assigns a lot of homework, but drops bigtime hints on what you should spend your time on. Odds are you will see the exact same assignment on the test. He is a VERY VERY good teacher and VERY helpful if you need it. I highly reccomend him.   - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1403 - I think Dooley is a wonderful teacher and would recommend everyone to take his class. Sure it is a lot of books because that what the department makes him give the students.
