Comments:ACC 2304 - It was a fine class. Not my major or something I'm really interested in, but he was a good teacher and got the job done!  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2023-08-24

Comments:4308 - Honestly, I really enjoyed Dr. Robinson this semester! I can see how if you don't get/enjoy sarcasm you would not like him, but I personally loved it. I never found him to be disrespectful to anyone and he was pretty personable in class. If you're looking for a professor to coddle you or have sympathy for you, he is not the one. Just treat him with respect and he will do the same. He enjoys when people joke with him too. He is not a bad professor. He does fly through material, but he also does not ever test on things that he doesn't teach. His exams were extremely fair. My only critique of the course was that the homework was much more advanced than anything we would do in class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Managerial Accounting - Don't take Robinson. He is awful. He is disrespectful and sarcastic. He is terrible at teaching and flies through material with little to no explanation. Don't don't don't take him.  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2019-04-15

Comments:ACC 2304 - Honestly, he sucks. His class is so boring. He is so boring. His examples make no sense, he's not funny, and he told my class that y= mx + b doesn't exist. He spends a ton of time rambling on about dumb stuff, then goes over the material so fast you can't even handle it. Other than one class at Baylor (shoutout to William English), this class is by far the worst one I've taken. Doesn't help that accounting is already hard as it is. I have accounting majors in my class that struggle. You have homework due every class, and he refers to tests as "quizzes", so prepare to get wrecked if you seriously think it's a quiz. I'm sure his intentions are good, but jeeeeeeeeez. If you want to succeed you're going to have to work way too hard for a required class. Literally this week he went person by person through our class asking for an answer to a question and NO one knew it. Please avoid.  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:4308 - Dr.Robinson summed up in 2 words: naval accountant. Dr. Robinson was in the navy after college for a couple years and is an accountant so he is a very old-fashioned, follow-the-rules-to-the tee type of guy. For example, he made sure we always had our name tents out at the start of class and if you didn't he would sometimes call you out. While this isn't a super big deal, these remarks would make some students upset and angry with him, and as a result many students did not like him from the start. While sometimes he could be a bit rule-follow-y, overall you just had to accept he is an accountant and was in the navy so he is very "chop-chop." I for one found him very funny and laughed several times at class at either his bad "dad jokes" or his navy or love of the Northeast stories. He has taught the course for many years and thus is very knowledgeable and can answer any specific questions you have in office hours. If you have a specific question, he is super helpful in office hours, but if your question involves just wanting the answer to the hw, he won't budge. Some people are intimidated of him (I was in the beginning), but if you go to office hours and ask questions, you will not be intimidated by him. This class isn't hard, but Dr. Robinson doesn't spoon feed you. He expects you to have looked over the notes and read the chapter before class (which hardly anybody did), so in that regard I don't think we can say he was a bad professor. Also, your only options for this course are Professor Steubs and Dr. Robinson; Dr. Robinson has been teaching this course for a long time, has very fair tests, and is funny so I would recommend him!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2304 - Fuck this guy. RUN and do not take him unless you want to waste your time. I only learned because I had an awesome SI. I needed an 87 on the final to make a B+ and I got an 85. He still wouldn't bump even though he said he would for students who "worked hard". What he meant to say was that he'd bump if you were a girl. I swear he called on the same girl every day to answer questions and never called on any dudes. I learned nothing from him and he's a flat out jerk in class. One time, he wouldn't even let a kid go to the bathroom and then the kid puked in class.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:4308 - Robinson is the worst teacher I've ever had at Baylor. I NEVER want to be a managerial accountant and a huge part of that is because of Dr. Robinson. I've loved every single one of my Baylor accounting professors except for Dr. Robinson. He cannot teach. He cannot relate to his students.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-12-11

Comments:2304 - DO NOT TAKE. Dr. Robinson is probably the most arrogant teacher I have ever had in my life. He is demeaning to his students and does his best to make you feel unintelligent any time you ask him a question. He gets very frustrated when his students are stuck on something and the more questions you ask the more annoyed he will get. His answers are generally not helpful in the least and he will answer as if you are dumb for even asking, in addition. He flies through material every time he lectures and overcomplicates concepts that would be easy to understand if they were taught by anyone else. When going over examples in class he will work out the more simple problems he assigns on the board, albeit at a breakneck pace that no one can keep up with, but when it comes to the more complicated problems he will say that he "doesn't want to write all of this out" and will throw up a printed solution on the projector, (He also refuses to post these solutions on Canvas later so you can figure them out for yourself, you will have to go in to his office hours) which he will once again speed through. The workload is the only thing about this class that isn't atrocious; Robinson assigns one homework problem after each class and these are your only assignments. His tests are very difficult even if you understand the concepts because he does his best to make the questions very tricky and nuanced, and if you don't read over every question carefully multiple times to figure out exactly what he wants or you will get the wrong answer (and the wrong answer that he wanted to trick you into will definitely be an answer choice, every time). Your grade is your homework average, four unit tests, and the final. He does replace your lowest test with the final. Our SI taught us almost everything, and the only reason I made an A is because of her and because I literally had to read through the whole textbook just to understand what was going on. Overall, Robinson is rude, unhelpful, and full of himself and should be avoided at all costs.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-12-04

Comments:ACC 2304 - Dr. Robinson is one of those people no one enjoys. He isn't weird or funny looking, he just makes everyone around him feel miserable. A few of the characteristics I would use to describe Dr. Robinson are rude, patronizing, judgmental, cold, arrogant, and most importantly prideful. He enjoys teaching by verbally explaining solutions at the pace of 1000 words per minute, leaving at least half the class in complete confusion with a couple random words they managed to get onto their notes. He also enjoys breifly mentioning key concepts and skiping over material that he will test on, forcing our SI instructor to attempt to teach us everything we needed to know. I would avoid Dr. Pride as best you can.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2018-11-26

Comments:2304 - Avoid at all costs. I've had worse professors. But Robinson is the most arrogant, rude, and unhelpful professor I've ever had. He thinks all of us are stupid, and try's to make sure we know it every class. He's literally said he doesn't like any of us but one kid in class. His tests are pretty challenging (Avg of a C on almost every one, no one ever got 100), and he doesn't give any extra credit opportunities. His grader grades generously, but also takes points off for the most random stuff. I only passed because I taught myself most of the class. Avoid taking him if you can. If you can't, good luck.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2018-11-07

Comments:2304 - While he's not bad, there are probably other teachers that are better/easier. He grades homework pretty generously so that's a plus. However, the tests are pretty hard. There's 4 MC test and a final. No one in my class ever got a 100 on it, whereas some of my other friends in different classes got 100's on multiple. Our class average was always around a C. Overall, nice guy but would recommend choosing another if you can.  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2018-05-07

Comments:2304 - I wouldn't say Dr. Robinson is a bad professor just very old school. No extra credit, tests can be challenging but homework isn't bad. The SI was really nice, but she was responsible for picking up the parts he didnt explain well but again, the SI is a student and cannot teach us like a professor can. Unfortunately with Dr. Robinson, he teaches way too fast and makes it very difficult to stay focused on the whole subject. Homework is to be hand written and turned in at the start of class. If you are even 2 seconds late you have to place your homework in a separate pile and hope he picks it up otherwise it will be a 0. If you are late, make sure to come in as quiet as possible and walk around the back of the room. NEVER i mean never walk to your seat from the front of the room if you are late. He will stop teaching and just stare at you for being rude and disruptive and tell you to go back and walk around in front of everyone. I would suggest taking someone else. Extra credit is a grade changer in accounting and Dr. Robinson doesnt offer any.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2018-04-09

Comments:ACC 2304 - I would not recommend taking Dr. Robinson for managerial accounting. He loves teacher advanced accounting and you can tell he doesn't like teaching non-accounting majors . He gives practice quizzes in class and theres an SI for this class, which is the only way I actually learned. Also, the lowest test grade is replaced by the final, which helps a ton. His lectures are very random and he expects you to already know the content from the assigned textbook readings, which is pretty tough for those of us who don't learn well from just reading. Lastly, you don't use the access code at all, so try to buy the book used from someone because he has you turn in one assigned homework problem at every class. Try to avoid him, and if you can't, then make sure to go to the SI!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Advanced Managerial - Dr. Robinson is by far my favorite teacher I\'ve had at Baylor. For some reason that surprises everyone who has had him before this year, so I\'m guessing he must\'ve had some major personality turnaround or something in the last year. He\'s been teaching the class for 40 years, so he knows the information better than anyone- I would walk into his office, point at a number, and say \"How did you get this?\" and he immediately knew what I was asking without me even turning around my binder for him to see. He\'s also just an entertaining person if you don\'t take him too seriously. He relates everything to Scotland and Braveheart and he\'s very conservative politically and drops hints about that in class- I guess if that bothers you, don\'t take him, but I think it\'s hilarious, and it was the most engaging undergrad accounting class I had. It\'s also never a bad idea to try and get on his good side since he\'s the department head. Cost was the highest grade I\'ve made in an accounting class, and I think it\'s just because I didn\'t mind studying the material he gave us because he made it fun. For the tests, definitely go through all your class notes and work through the problems until you understand everything, and go to his office if you don\'t understand something. Just don\'t be intimidated by him- he\'s a really sweet man and wants his students to succeed.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ACC 4308 - Cost - Robinson LOVES managerial accounting and will point it out constantly. We had four tests and a final which isn't unusual for the accounting core. He requires you to purchase his notes packet from the bookstore which I was mad about at first but I thought it was more helpful than what friends in other classes had because it meant you didn't have to spend the entire class taking notes. Our homework was also different from other classes because they used Connect to do online homework and we had problems to work out from the notes as a group which I feel helped me to learn more as well as to improve in Excel skills. Tests are pretty hard - he made a comment every time questioning why we didn't have a 90 average (averages were about 78-82) but the final test average was around a 90. To study I recommend going through ALL the notes you've done in class and working out every single problem at least twice. He does point out in class they types of problems that will be work-out on the test so that was useful in studying. Not super helpful in office hours - he usually suggests you talk to people in your group to find the answer but sometimes he will help. The departmental final was hard - our class average was a 77 and I can't speak to what Burney's class average was. Robinson isn't a bad choice for this class. Lots of homework but it helps you to learn the material and he's really passionate about the subject.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:2304 - Robinson is terrible. He's a terrible teacher, he's a terrible PERSON. As far as the class goes, he lectures the entire time, throwing bizarre popping and clicking sounds (made with his mouth) in randomly. His tests are composed entirely of trick questions, so no matter how well you know the material you're still at risk of failing. He gives homework every night, but it isn't very difficult (and it's not the least bit helpful). Two "late"s = 1 absence, and he'll mark you late if you're 2 minutes early if he decided to start before the usual time. He also has a meltdown if you walk to the front of the class to turn homework in if you're at all late, so you must leave homework at the back of the class (WHERE HE'S LIABLE TO FORGET TO PICK IT UP AND THEN BLAME YOU FOR IT). This did happen to me once, and I pressed him on the issue so he allowed me to do it over and turn it in again. Then I saw another guy in my class come up to him with the exact same issue and Robinson simply told him he'd think about it (when he knew full well what happened and that it was his fault). This man is BAD news. It's a wonder he still has a job. Avoid him at all costs.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2012-05-04

Comments:2304 - I really enjoy accounting, but Robinson's class was terrible. I understood everything going on in the class, but many of his test questions were poorly worded, so I did poorly on the tests. He's very particular about how you turn in homework, and he sometimes forgets to pick up the homework if you are late, and then gives you a zero unless you catch it the day it's passed back. If you aren't there when homework is passed back, you won't get it back. He's really arrogant and spends too much time talking about Scotland and clearly doesn't care about his students. If you take his class, make sure you study the practice quizzes because the SI quizzes don't help with the tests at all.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:2304 - Ohhhh Robinson! I am an accounting major, I love accounting...but this class was truly horrible. Robinson assigns homework that is nothing like the problems you work in class. On top of that, if you e-mail him with questions be prepared for no response. His SI just stopped having meetings with us after the 3rd exam... so don't expect too much help there. He does suggest problems for you to do for practice, but you will never know if you did them right or wrong because he never gives you check figures...even when you ask for them. And he's just rude and arrogant. Other than all that, his exams aren't bad... all multiple choice, and about 30 questions long. For all you unfortunate people stuck with Robinson....Good Luck!!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2011-05-05

Comments:2304 - Robinson is so boring.... he sounds like a game show host and is one of those professors that thinks he is very intelligent and knows everything.... His tests and homework were not so bad.. but sitting through that miserable class was horrible.... Also, he absolutely did not tell us anything about the final and btw.. the final was ridiculously hard!!!! It covered very specific things and was definantly not like all of Robinsons previous tests.. also there was no departmental curve so beware!  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2010-05-23

Comments:acc - I could not get over how he sounds like sean connery hosting a game show... seriously, its scary. I didnt register for his class until a couple days into the semester, he counted me absent. After that I pretty much checked out, take Miller if you can!!  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2010-01-11

Comments:ACC 2304 - I'm glad I made it out of this class. Robinson could possibly be my least favorite teacher. If at all possible, stay away from him if you want to make a C or better.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2009-07-02

Comments:4300 - I feel bad for 2304 classes. If you want to learn about how much he hates the current administration than take him. He truely is upset and it bothers him everyday. Class sucks because he gets off topic so much!   - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2009-05-12

Comments:2304 - I don't know what these other people are talking about. I had to retake Managerial Accounting and took Robinson the second time. It was like a completely different class...so much better than my other professor. He doesn't believe in working problems the hard way and shows you the simplest way to arrive at each answer. The tests are completely multiple choice which is great because you know immediately if you did a problem wrong. The majority of the questions are from problems he works in class and most of the time will even tell you if something is a test question. He's a great teacher and funny at times. Accounting sucks but Robinson makes it a little better!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2009-05-09

Comments:ACC 2304 - If you can, don't take him. He is an attendance NAZI! He talks about Scotland and Miatas way too much and he is a bit rude. He telling boring stories and teaches very little. DO the practice quizzes, write down the important stuff, homework is really crucial and PRAY!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2008-04-29

Comments:2304 - I had Bryant the first time for 2304 and didn't understand a thing. He wouldn't even give me one point for a C. I took Robinson and understood everything in the summer. He is a good teacher, even though he might talk about Scotland and his Miata too much. I went to class every day and took notes and did the homework, studied for the tests the day before and did fine. Take Robinson for this class!  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2007-06-09

Comments:2304 - DO NOT TAKE HIM! I had him for a T/TH class and he started a few minutes early and taught all the way into the passing period for EVERY class all semester! He talks in a game show host voice and is very arrogant. He isnt helpful so be prepared to teach yourself or go to the SI's. tests are pretty difficult and homework is due the day you learn the topic, so you really dont have a clue when you are trying to work it. Overall poor teacher.  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2007-05-04

Comments:2304 - Wow. RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! I made a C in Financial and was stuck with Robinson because of my tight schedule. He is extremely arrogant and this makes class unbearable. His workload is pretty light compared to my financial class (willis), but it also is insufficient for preparing for his tests.  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2007-02-16

Comments:4308 - He explains the answer but does not explain HOW to get the answer. It was a tough class especially if you don't remember the first managerial. Take someone else if possible!  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2006-12-12

Comments:2304 - Ok, so after I got my first test back w/a 57 I thought i was retarded, but then I realized like everyone around me failed . Nonetheless, I wasn't about to let this prick destroy my GPA so I started studying, hard. Michael is very denigrating and enjoys watching his students squirm. He's obsessed w/Scotland & Mazda Miatas, so if you need an 'in', there u go. Finally, write down his little, "I would be flabberghasted if that wasn't on the test" sayings, because he's serious. Final word of advice, study the practice quizzes to get a B, if u study the homework as well, that will prolly bump you to an "A".   - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2006-05-19

Comments:2304 - do yourself a favor and DO NOT take dr. robinson. i sat on the front row, never missed a class, and even went into his office and still had trouble. i had to learn everything on my own with the help of a tutor a few hours every week. all he does is lecture and since he also teaches the upper level accounting classes, he makes this basic class more difficult. going into his office is pointless because if you need help on a problem he will make you feel dumb for not knowing how to do it...but only to his lack of being a HORRIBLE teacher. his tests are very tricky and only about 30 questions mc so its pretty hard to get a good grade. get anyone else for this class. he is a nightmare!!  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2006-05-03

Comments:2304 - Personally, I didn't think this class was a big deal. I would do the homework the night before and study for the tests the night before, and did fine. Although there were some in the class that didn't do so well, so i guess it's all a matter of opinion.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2006-04-05

Comments:2304 - I made an A in this asshole's class but he tells you that if you make below a 90 on all the test that you are stupid...whoever says he is a good teacher is on crack...he reads from the overhead and doesn't let you do any of the problems. if you go in for help he talks down to you like you are a two year old!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2005-04-29

Comments:2304 - He is probably the hardest teacher for 2304. His tests are ridiculous and you will have to sacrifice a week of your life to study in advance in order to do well on his tests. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!   - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2005-04-26

Comments:ACC 2304 - He reads off his overhead the entire time. His test are multiple choice but he knows the mistakes students frequently make and makes the tests very trick. He has a monotonous voice and you end up having to teach yourself. He's not very personable. Definitely take someone else.  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2005-03-23

Comments:2304 - This class at first was rough. I breezed through fin acc and was thinking this would be a breeze also. It wasn't as easy bc the concepts are more in depth and involve more studying and preparing. He teaches well and gives a light homework load. Yall do a lot of practice problems in class which are a big help. Tests are all multiple choice and the final is similar to the tests during the sem. In the end I learned a lot from him and I am very glad I took his class.   - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2004-07-14

Comments:Man. Acc. - This is probably the best professor I have had at Baylor. I'm on adderall so everything he says really clicked with me. This is a very common-sensical class, but I think a lot of the students were confused. Homework is easy and the tests are fairly predictable. Write down his tricky little sayings in class. Often he will tell you that they will be on the test and he isn't kidding. I think my class average was about a 70, but this class isn't impossible if you put forth an effort. The perfect choice for an accounting major.   - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2004-07-07

Comments:2304 - Great teacher. Not a heavy workload. Tests are all multiple choice.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2004-07-06

Comments:2304 - The course is difficult and time consuming but Prof Robinson is fair if you will talk with him. You need to keep up! I would recommned him for 2304  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2004-05-10

Comments:2304 - He is an intelligent professor but does have an attitude. Don't try to talk to him about anything important in front of anyone or he will ridicule you!! His tests are hard...but then, most accounting test will be! Just prepare to spend quiet alot of time on the work and study..and you will do ok.  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2004-05-10

Comments:2307 - Michael, although an extremely intelligent professor, hates. His cynical opportunism is almost enough for me to hate him, and his favoritism towards certain individuals is blatant. Alot of homework, studying, class periods that go the whole time, and moments of ridicule are all associated with this class. I learned alot, but it is because I am smart and I don't have to try to do well, but for most people this class is not a breeze.  - Grade In Class:B
