Comments:SOC 3311 - Dr. Park is great. He is funny and likes to engage students with a discussion at the beginning of class about current world events or problems. I wish the powerpoints were more engaging, the content is interesting but they way the lectures was designed did not keep me very engaged. There are essays due throughout the semester, which are graded pretty leniently. Dr. Park is great and if you care about race and ethnicity you should take this class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3311 - I loved Dr. Park's class. He is very sweet and understanding! It is not hard to do well in his class at all!!! Just keep up with the readings and do the assignments!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3311 - Dr. Park is a genuinely kind person and really cares about the information he is teaching. He starts off every lecture with an ice breaker question that is thought provoking and pertains to what we lecture on for the day. I agree with previous ratings that we had a lot of reading to do. It was pretty easy to skim some of it, though. We took a midterm and a final which were straightforward and based off of lectures and readings. During the semester we also wrote 7 mini essays on the readings, which I found weren't too tricky to write. All in all, Dr. Park is a nice person and his class is very thought provoking.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3311 - I thought that some of these ratings would be exaggerating Dr. Park's teaching ability. But the majority of them were correct, especially the one right below this. Coming into this class thinking we would learn about all the different races, all we did was bash on white people...felt bad for all the white people in my class. There are 7 papers, 2 exams, and 1 presentation. The papers were graded by the TAs who were SO BIASED. If they didn't agree with your opinion, they would take off 2 points...out of 4. If you're looking for a blow-off class, don't take this. If you're looking for a professor who hates on Baylor, white people, and other people's opinion ... this class is for you!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SOC 3311 - I'm sure Park is a great guy outside of class, but there was so much misinformation in his powerpoints. Students would sometimes correct him when he shared a news article that was proven false, and he's clearly quite biased (although it's hard not to be in a class all about race and gender). Class discussion was good, but expectations weren't well explained for assignments. The class is easy if you're just trying to get an A, but you don't learn much besides white people suck.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3311 - An amazing professor! He explains everything in detail and will answer any questions. There is hardly any work and his tests are beyond easy. I highly suggest that you take his class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SOC 3311 - He makes this class really interesting. Makes students discuss a lot of different things and the discussions sometimes took 30 min. Do all the work and you'll get an A.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SOC 3311 - Dr. Park was a good professor. Not great, but definitely not bad in any way. That’s to say, he wasn’t dynamic or particularly interesting to listen to, but he definitely wasn’t boring or hostile, either. Considering he’s the only professor for Race, Class and Gender at the moment, though, you’ll definitely be in good hands. The class is extremely reading-intensive and you’ll need to keep up with the material to do well on the test, but his lectures came almost straight out of the textbook. Take notes based on what he says in class more than on the powerpoints, though, because the powerpoints are always available on blackboard if you miss something on one of them. He starts every class with an icebreaker, which have a way of bringing up ideas about the subject material people wouldn’t have normally thought of. The icebreaker is discussion-based and the rest of the class is lecture-based. He calls on people a lot, but it’s typically for feedback on the things he’s presenting about, not necessarily for information from the readings. It was a very interesting class and Dr. Park taught it well—if you’re a sociology or anthropology major, definitely take this class, but it’s also a great way to fill a social science requirement for people of any major.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3311 - One of the best discussion-based classes I've had at Baylor. Park is a pretty laid-back professor, only problem was that he didn't post grades as frequently as I was used to. HW load is not bad: just a debate project. Keep up w/ readings & get involved in class discussion & you should be fine.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3311 - Dr. Park is a really interesting lecturer. His classes were always interesting and thought provoking. The only problem I had with this class were the texts we used. They weren't the best quality and often didn't correspond with the topics we were covering in class. He gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit, so you should have no problem succeeding in this class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - GREAT TEACHER ... there is no homework at all and this guy gives you TONS of extra credit options that i reccomend you do ... the only problem wit the class is that the only grades are the tests which are pretty challenging ... however, if you do the extra credit he adds a bunch of extra credit. take this dude.   - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1305 - in the beginning of the year the class was enjoyable because it was mainly a class discussion lead by dr. park. but we got behind in the lectures, so for the second half of the year he just read off notes from a powerpoint. even though he gives you a study guide, the questions can be confusing, it is helpful to not only know definitions, but to read the details in the book. there was no homework besides reading and studying for tests and he gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit. kind of boring, but overall not a hard class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3311 - i really liked this class...there was a lot of work but the tests are straight foward so if you study the study guides he gives you for each test then you're set. i learned a lot from this class and it was interesting to hear what other people had to say.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3311 - Overall, Race Class and Gender was a lot more work than I expected. We had loads of reading every night, Question-Reactions to readings, an in-class debate, a research paper/presentation, and a lot of information from lectures with only two tests... the mid-term and final. Park gave a lot of work, but he taught the class well. Take the good with the bad I'd say - the class itself was fascinating!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - Really good teacher! young, upbeat, and tried to make classes fun! no outside projects, no homework, all you have to do is study for the tests. tests simple if you know definitions in the book. i could have done alot better if i studied more. good teacher.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:SOC 3311 - Dr. Park is very helpful and the class is based on reading what is assigned on the syllabus. Tests were fair. I highly recommend him for anyone is tired of learning about race, class, and gender issues from professors who otherwise cannot relate to what they teach. Park is awesome!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:intro - This guy is really awesome. He prints out the notes straight from his power points, and really enjoys student feedback. He genuinely wants to help students understand and relate to the material. Does a great job in keeping the class involved in discussions. I definitely recommend him, even if it's not your major.  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:1305 - Dr. Park was an awesome professor. He has changed up his testing style and makes it very simple for you to do well. He really works with you to help you learn and get the best grade. He's one of my fav. prof's on campus. To get an A make sure you read the notes AND assigned textbook chapters.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:SOC-1305 - Dr. Park is a great professor. This was only his second semester teaching, and he worked out most of the kinks from the first time around. He now writes his own exams, which are almost impossible to fail. I almost never had to study. Our class talked him into emailing us the lecture notes, which helped a lot. If you pay attention, you have nothing to worry about. Overall, get him if you can.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Intro to Sociology - He is a good teacher....very cool and helpful. If you are not very good at Sociology he is more than helpful! Exams are fairly difficult but he will work with you and try to help you out as far as extra credit. I would def recomend Dr. Park, he is a great man and I would take his class!!!  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:1305 - Overall great prof, great guy. The textbook and terms can become pretty boring if the subjects don't interst you. His tests were borrowed from the publisher's practice exams and the questions were actually difficult. Luckily he curved everyone's grade. I think he may try to change around his approach and start writing his own tests after this semester but he says he's also busy trying to finish up grad. school. I think he's relatively new to Baylor which explains why he wasn't sure about his material and format for teaching the class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1305 - He's a good professor, if a little vague during his lectures. His lectures tend to be rather boring but he does curve the tests. If you study a little and consistently show up for class you'll make an A.   - Grade In Class:C+
