Comments:MGT 3325 - Great and funny guy. 1/3 of each test is process analysis that you learn at the start of class, so master this early for easy points. You can't skip out on reading the cases, but I never felt that the questions about the cases on exams were unfair. Helpful when I went for office hours. Put in the work and get help when needed and you will be fine. Remember his safety lessons from beginning of class each day because he will put them on exams.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2023-12-24

Comments:3325 - I had high hopes going into this class since all the reviews I read said he was engaging and funny. Though he is a quirky guy, he absolutely refuses to actually teach anything. He WILL NOT answer questions or instruct you how to do certain assignments like simulations. If he does answer a question is it very passive agressive. He gives students no heads up into exam structure for the first exam which is why most students fail. Your answers must be word for word memorizations of case studies and random comments said in class that are never mentioned again. Overall, this class is much harder than it needs to be but it is not impossible. Just be prepared to be in the dark and frustrated. You will not fail but you absolutely will not have an easy A. I would like to note in any other setting I would find him an entertaining and caring guy, I just didnt think he was a good prof.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2023-12-06

Comments:MGT 3325 - He made his class much more difficult than it needed to be. You are expected to memorize the details of the case studies verbatim or else you cannot get any questions right on the exams. If you have questions, he is incredibly passive aggressive and will not answer them. The workload itself honestly isn't too bad, but the lack of workload he makes up for in over complicating everything. Memorize everything you see, and DO the practice problems he provides, that is only way I passed any of the exams.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2023-09-26

Comments:3325 - Dr. McCormick is very difficult because he does not explain the structure of the exams and you are shocked on the first one. He puts random things on it and if it is not word for word what he wants he will dock you points. Taking his exams are like completing an ACT, it is strategy based, and not assessing your comprehension of the subject. Class time is not productive whatsoever and you will watch videos that do not appear on the exams. If you want to do well, memorize the syllabus and hope for the best. He was a difficult grader on homework...some of the assignments are extremely meticulous. You either click really well with his teaching style or don't, there is no in between. It was very obvious I was not his favorite and his subjective grading was evident on the scores I received on my assignments.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:MGT 4396 - Definitely take him for the MGT Internship class. He really does try his best to make sure you succeed. Also expresses genuine interest in what you're doing and is an invaluable connection because of this - he knows everyone. The class requires some in-person meetings/seminars before you actually go off for the summer, but I joined the class late and he bent the syllabus to allow myself and other students to complete that portion upon return to campus in the fall.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:MGT 4395 - I took Professor McCormick's Management Internship course over the summer. I waited from the end of May until the end of July to get any sort of response from him regarding the completion of a part of the course that he had to approve in order for me to get any sort of credit. I sent over five emails throughout the Summer, and even ended up reaching out to the chair of the department to get some sort of help on the situation. When he finally responded four days before my internship was over, he did recognize how inconsiderate he was being, and there was no apology. This class is not difficult, but I think this shows a lot about the character of Professor McCormick and the way he views and treats his students.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:MGT 3325 - I can't speak highly enough about Dr. McCormick. Easily my favorite professor at Baylor so far. He has 4 exams, no cumulative final. 50% of the four exams is Process Analysis and it is the same set of questions on all 4 exams, but with different numbers. By exam 2, you should have nearly mastered Process Analysis, guaranteeing you will do good on the exams if you study the rest of the material (guest speakers, readings, case studies, and the Goal by Eli Goldratt). He is very available and I had a blast getting to know him and learning more about Supply Chain Management.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:3325 - McCormick was okay. I took the class online. For whatever reason, he began the week on Thursday, so all assignments had to be due Wednesday night. The weekly assignments are super straightforward, so get an A on everything. Tests did not cover the in-class material well and had tons of questions that we never saw/worked on. Test reviews were vague as well. If you get an A on the weekly assignments, you'll pull a B even if you do poorly on the exams. If you want to do this as a major, you'll love this class. If you're just looking to get the requirement out of the way, take someone easier.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2021-05-10

Comments:MGT 3325 - This was an online course, so overall wasn't very engaging. Everything in the class was based off of long articles that you had to read and the only lectures that took place were reviews of those articles. Not at all saying that this was a bad class, the assignments were all pretty straight forward and he gave a lot of feedback. Tests were all very similar and if you finish all of the assignments throughout the modules, you should do well in this class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3325 - Professor McCormick is a great guy and is super funny. His classes are pretty entertaining and the time goes by fast because he is a pretty funny dude. The material he goes over in class is not hard and he teaches it pretty well. The only thing is that the homework and tests are substantially harder than what we go over in class. The questions are similar to the ones in class, just with much harder numbers and asking for more things. His tests are a bit ridiculous as he will present completely new questions on material you've never seen before. These questions aren't impossible to solve but you really have to think and use what you've learned in the past to kinda find a way to solve it. With all that being said, this class is awesome and McCormick is a great guy. His office hours are super helpful and he has become my favorite professor at Baylor. He helped me through a connection get a summer internship. Great guy, hard tests, but I think it is worth it. You'll learn a lot and the work really isn't even that hard. It's just the tests that suck  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2021-02-10

Comments:3325 - Pros: He's a good humored guy. He was very helpful during office hours for me, and even helped me prepare for some case interviews. Content was very good. Biggest plus is that he does actually listen to student feedback and take it into account when preparing practice material. Cons: Definitely can see folks getting lost in the material if they're not a self starter or natural problem solver. Test often features questions that won't share a format that you've seen previously. The material from the longer readings aren't developed enough in class to be synthesized long term in a meaningful way. Overall, good class, would recommend for those who enjoy thinking outside the box, would not recommend if you want an easy A otherwise.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-12-09

Comments:MGT 3325 - Blaine McCormick is hilarious. Class is bound to be entertaining just because he is teaching it. That being said, I didn't really like the way the subject of the class was approached. This topic just is not my strength, so I knew going into the class that I wasn't going to get an A. That being said, Blaine doesn't make the class impossible at all. If you just listen while you're discussing cases and actively participate, tests are really doable. Overall, its not that bad, sometimes dry, and you can always look forward to something new from Blaine every day.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2019-11-26

Comments:MGT 3325 - He's really nice and honestly pretty funny without realizing it. His class is really interesting and you do a lot of exercises that make learning pretty easy. However, he doesn't use a textbook and there aren't slides so it's close to impossible to study for tests. He puts questions on the test that are totally out of the blue that we didn't talk about in class because he wants you to push yourself to "new ways of thinking". That's great... except maybe not on a test. The class is really cool, the tests are just ridiculously hard. The homework is also close to impossible. He explains homework assignments in the last 3 minutes of class and no one understands what he wants/how to do it. I honestly think he thinks we're smarter than we really are. Great guy, interesting class, but sooo much harder than it should be. Very very frustrating.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Operations Management - Overall this professor was a bit full of himself but not a terrible teacher. That being said, he has absolutely ZERO compassion for his students. After asking for a grade raise of very few points (out of 1000) just to boost my grade up to a C in order to graduate on time, he answered in no. He was incredibly snarky and clearly uncaring that by not giving me just a few extra points, he would be affecting my spring graduation. I’ve never written on a professor before, but it is clear he does not care about his students succeeding and this was clear by his actions.  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2017-12-13

Comments:3325 - His lecture style is very interesting, and he'll challenge your thinking. If you aren't afraid of talking in class, then you'll be fine on the participation grade. However, he'll assign these case studies and ask you for a solution, but he'll provide little framework to help you arrive at that solution (I guess he's trying to simulate the real world). Furthermore, there really isn't a good way to study for his tests (and he likes it that way), so I would walk out of the tests with a 75%. Also, make sure you keep up with your reading on The Goal (the book for the class) from day 1 (make sure you order it before the first day of class or you'll be behind the whole semester). I found the class very interesting and fun, but it was the lowest grade I've ever earned in my academic career, and in retrospect, there really wasn't a whole lot that I could've done to change that.  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:MGT 3325 - When it comes to professor popularity at the business school, Dr. McCormick could be said to be a polarizing figure. He used to teach BUS 1301 - which older students will remember - but now teaches upper class management classes. I've heard many students say that they think Dr. McCormick is a bad teacher, and I don't think this assessment could be further from the truth. I had him for both 1301 and Operations Management, and especially enjoyed Ops Management. He builds his lectures around cases (we used cases from HBR). As a result, much of the coursework forced us to use critical thinking and application of both course material and common sense. IMO, this approach was a relief from the standard requirement involving bland regurgitation of facts/figures from a textbook. You can’t memorize your way to a good grade in this class. Class attendance is a key factor if you hope to do well on his midterm and final, as many of the questions will come from things that happened in class. Participation was also a factor in his grading strategy. That class was one of the few classes I’ve had at Baylor that I actually looked forward to. Other keys to success in his class: READ THE CASES, come prepared with thoughtful analysis, and be ready to share and defend your viewpoints. It’s what a college class should involve, after all.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2016-10-25

Comments:3325 - Do yourself a favor and do NOT take Dr. McCormick. If you want to read nothing but case files and learn absolutely nothing, do not do it to yourself because your GPA will suffer greatly. He benchmarks the whole entire class and if you do not participate in class at all, your grade will suffer. McCormick does not teach at all and has his "Harvard Coursepacks" to do the teaching for him. Ridiculous excuse for a teacher.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:1301 - Considering Dr. Mc is the only option for 1301, I will just note some tips. This class is not as bad as people make it out to be. Maybe if you're incredibly stupid and put no effort into learning foundation then it might be? DO foundation, seriously, that will help you grasp some of the information on tests and will also make sure you pass the final. Read the Franklin book- it was super easy and not too boring anyway. The tests had huge amounts of maxims, so make sure you can recognize those. Do the readings/ watch the videos on the blog so that you can have a decent quiz grade average. I would only study maybe 2 hours the night before each test and made A's on all of them. Overall, just suck it up and try to do well, it's not hard.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1301 - HUGE EGO. Arrogant. unforgiving sonofabitch. Blaine is the laziest prof at BU (ripped entire ben franklin autobiography into his "textbook", makes students teach themselves stupid computer game, and gets other people to teach the class for him.) Baylor needs to wake up and boot him out.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1301 - Blaine McCormick is all about Blaine McCormick.. he believes that he is the modern day Ben Franklin.. my best advice is to re-watch the classes on Blackboard before the tests.. and don't let compXM or capsim trip you up too much.. take it step by step and really read the books..  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Business - He is a smart guy and he makes class really fun. He sets the rules and expects you to follow them. He WILL NOT bend the rules or work with you under any circumstance. But once you except that, it's pretty chill. Just sit back and enjoy the class. Put a little effort into it and you will be fine.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2011-02-24

Comments:1301 - One of the most underestimated business teachers at baylor. He is not rude as people say, you simply do the work and you will do well. This class is underrated because people simply treat it like a blowoff class and pay the consequences.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2010-12-09

Comments:1301 - Why does everyone complain about McCormick so much? I like him. Yes there's a lot of work for this class, but most of it will help you in the end if you actually put effort into it. Foundations is the only thing that hurt my grade, but he expects that so he's structured the grading system so other stuff can cushion that grade. That doesn't mean you can get an A in the class if you fail Foundation, but failing Foundation won't cause you to fail the class. I got a C on Foundation and still made an A in the class. The individual project is basically the exact same as Foundation except you make decisions individually instead of with a team. So if you don't understand Foundation, get help. If you don't like McCormick, go talk to his course leaders. They're really, really nice. If you really don't learn anything from Foundation it's either 1) your fault for not putting in the amount of effort that you need to (yes it's a lot, business world will be a lot of constant effort, get over it), or 2) a sign that you shouldn't be in business. Having taken a couple upper-level business classes I can say that Foundation has given me a context to store all the information I am learning in more detail now. If you go in expecting to dread the class, you probably will. So don't. People say Dr. McCormick is rude-to the contrary, I've found him to be one of the most polite people I know. His "sink or swim" philosophy for class is probably what causes students to think that, but that's what the business world is like, people. When you eventually get out there yourselves you will be thankful that Dr. McCormick forced you to swim. He's also really big on ethics-if you have a problem with that, I sure hope you're not handling my money someday.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BUS 1301 - Dr. McCormick is very rude, and was my least favorite teacher. I did not enjoy him or his class at all. This class was extremely difficult for me, and I did well in all my other classes. He gives assignments as if you have no other classes but his. We had to read the Wall Street Journal for a daily quiz, which wasn't so bad, but he doesn't actually teach. He gives you a group project called Foundation, and you basically teach yourselves while working in your group. You also have to do an individual project, which basically screwed me over because he never explained it. If you try talking to him, he is nice, but has a condescending tone, and is not helpful and shows no mercy. Every student in the Business school has to take him, so if you can pull at least a C in the class, you're home free!  - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2009-12-16

Comments:1301 - WALL STREET JOURNAL SUCKS! We read almost every day...quizzes every class. Some questions were tricky...You better hope you have a good foundation group. I thought this class was a waste of time. A B+ in this class is an 88. You would expect to learn alot...but he doesn't really teach..If you want to learn it, you have to learn it yourself. FaceTime takes up the whole class. He's kind of awkward.   - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1301 - So. this man has an unusual fetish for Ben Franklin. I would hate to see his image files on his computer. It terrifies me. Also, he loves the honor code. a lot. this is supposed to be an intro to business, but you will learn absolutely no financial literacy and you will not become business savvy at all. Highly disappointing. but hey, you could always put on a ben franklin costume and yeah, ya know. a little extra credit on a friday night. godspeed.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2008-12-10

Comments:1301 - Do well on WSJ Quizzes... they add up. I honestly did not learn anything from Foundations just do average and you'll be fine.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2008-11-20

Comments:BUS 1301 - He's a really good teacher and wants students to do well. The foundation simulation isn't that bad..My advice would be to just really learn how the simulation works during the introduction and the practice rounds and you will be fine. My class was lucky b/c we had an awesome teachers assistant who had extra classes to help us with foundation.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2008-11-13

Comments:1301 - The teachers were fine but the course load was ridiculous. I hated the class because there was way too much to do. Plus I like to learn from books and have a grade that actually reflects what I learned from the class instead of some stupid little game that was based on what group you got into and how lucky your industry was and counted for the largest percentage of your grade. But hey you have to take it as a pre-rec so do your best. The 3 tests are 10% so don't stress over them too much. Wall street quizzes everday were about 1% per quiz - but it adds up.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1301 - you kids are a bunch of winers. None of you had to deal with the misery that was Dr. Chonko. Dr. McCormick is a great man, and you can learn quite a bit from him. Give the guy a break for actually caring to teach all of you. How many of you can balance being an Associate Dean and teach a class that generally requires about six TAs and a huge project. You aren't going to be spoon-fed everything in life, and sure, you are going to have to do some things that may seem like a waste of time. But that's college. Besides, what use is there in complaining about a professor that you are required to take anyway? Grow up. Start posting stuff on here when you take your first finance class.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1301 - Just so you know, I am an extremely good student. I had an extremely high GPA (never made below a B+) before I took this class. I GOT A C!!! I tried SO hard, but basically it is impossible to do well. McCormick is a CRAP teacher. You can never talk to him about the class, you always have to talk to the TA's. I did not do well on the tests, I did as much work as I could for foundation and my group got a 76. IT SUCKS!! If at all possible, don't take this class. It made me want to die. BY FAR the worst class I have taken at Baylor so far.   - Grade In Class:C+

Date: 2008-05-15

Comments:1301 - Painful to sit through. Unless you like egotistical hypocrites that enjoy the sound of their own voice. He would make "jokes" all the time and the class would be dead silent. He doesn't actually teach business, especially for foundation, he only points out when a teams miserably fail because they do not know it. Good luck, kid.   - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2008-05-09

Comments:Bus 1301 - This was the biggest waist of time! At the beginning of the semester Professor McCormick comes across as a very nice guy that will do anything and everything to help you. Halfway through the semester, however, he turns into a completly different person. There is something that you have to do for the class called "Foundation" BIGGER WAIST OF TIME! This excersize DID NOT help me understand ANYTHING about business... Basically how it went down is that the first day him and Professor Lancaster (I have no complaints about her) told us what we were going to be doing(as far as foundation) but didn't go into great detail about it...and that's the way it remained. I, along with many others that I have talked to agree that Professor McCormick needs to change his teaching method. Many students leave with NOTHING of educational value at the end of the semester. Unless you call learning about the baylor Honor code as useful for the business world. Another thing that kind of irritates me is that the professors don't teach 1/3+ of the class everytime we meet. Seriously, they have someone come in every day and talk to us about what they do...sometimes it is VERY interesting most of the time it is like wathing golf on a sunday afternoon after a big lunch. IT PUTS YOU TO SLEEP! The only thing that I have found to be useful is the Wall Street Journal that we had to read for every class. That is the most business material i learned out of this class...I could go on and on and on about how big of a joke this class is, but I feel that it would be yet another waist of my time.  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2008-05-06

Comments:Bus 1301 - McCormick seems like a conman to me, always talking about ethics and doing the right thing yet at the same time making sure to give us 90 in extra class fees all under the notion that he is saving us money. What I loathe most is his explanation for charging a $50 lab fee, to subsidize our foundation simulation by $20. There seems to be a $30 difference in there. Also the book we must buy is written by none other than Prof. McCormick I might add. Enough about the man, the class is a joke by even a middle school’s standard. Apparently this class is so important it takes two teachers and two TA’s to run this class. Be prepared to learn lifelong lessons in this class such as not unbuttoning your pants in front of a potential boss after a big meal. Tests are a joke; one of the questions was actually this “Did Mr. X say it was ok to cry with a customer?” How does that apply to the course name economic and global affairs? It doesn’t. Foundation is another joke that gives McCormick and Lancaster an excuse to not teach 1/3 of the class but rather to subject students to public humiliation at their failure. Overall waste of money but I see that this is a cash cow for Baylor and McCormick so it is obviously going to stay. It’s a shame that Baylor and McCormick parade around believing to be ethical, when they are truly far from it. Hypocrites. Comments:1301 - McCormick is a terrible professor. It's too bad that this is a required course because I would have taken any other course in place of this one. His lecturing ability is below average and you practically learn nothing over the course of the semester. I feel bad for all of the future business majors that have to take this.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1301 - This class annoyed me more than any other class I have taken so far at Baylor. At the very beginning of the semester I thought McCormick was great but then it began to go downhill from there. Professor McCormick has an unusual obsession with ethics and Benjamin Franklin. The man couldn't go five minutes without talking about something that had to do with ethics all semester. McCormick gives off the vibe that he is better than everyone else. One day in class he told everyone that he and his family observe the Sabbath and refuse to go out to eat or go to the store on Sunday because they don't want people to have to work for them. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but the way he presented it made it sound like we are all terrible people if we have people work for us on Sunday. And I hate to break it to him, but some people have to work on Sundays to support their families and if we all observed the Sabbath then they wouldn't be able to provide for their families. I honestly just felt like he was an extremely cocky man. A large part of your grade for the class is a simulation that Prof. McCormick and Lancaster basically handed to us without any useful instruction. It was confusing and frustrating to work with. There's a Wall Street Journal quiz every day which isn't so bad if you read the requirements. The tests are pretty straight-forward, multiple choice, and come almost completely from the powerpoint except for some questions over the speakers that they have come in for facetime. BUS 1301 was overall the biggest waste of my time, and all I learned was how to set the table and that girls can only have their shirts untucked when it's a business casual event (which doesn't really help me because i'm a guy). But unfortunately it is a requirement for business majors.   - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1301 - Bus 1301 is an easy course. You have to read Ben Frank's Autobiography which is surprisingly really interesting. There is a Wall Street Journal quiz everyday and a group project. The course is really clear-cut and as long as you keep up with everything it is an easy A.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Bus 1301 - Dr. McCormick is a GREAT guy and really easy to listen to. He seems to enjoy what he does and it really makes the class much more interesting. The only complaint I have is over the business simulation. It was really a disappointment! They didn't prepare us for the acutal rounds AT ALL and the rehersal rounds were NOTHING like the real rounds. Great professor though so hopefully they will find a way to better prepare students for the business simulation!   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Neg. & Conflict Res. - Dr. McCormick is a wonderful professor. In his class you get to choose your grade and as long as you follow the requirements for that grade track, you get that grade. He is a great professor and good man to talk to. I highly recommend taking him  - Grade In Class:C
