Comments:4302 - One of the best professors I’ve had at Baylor. Wang laoshi made Chinese literature and film really interesting and easy to follow. The classes were thoughtful, discussions were great, and I learned a lot about Chinese literature and films along the way.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1323 - I really enjoyed having Dr. Wang as my professor. He always made sure to keep us engaged during class. A lot of times, he broke up our class into smaller discussion groups, which was nice. If we were confused about any of the material, he made sure to explain it to us and he loved drawing out charts. He does cold-call a lot, so make sure that you're paying attention to the discussion. PSA: before his large group lectures, he'll send out lecture notes. Make sure you print them and take notes alongside them because he has a lot of content to cover in such a short period of time. You'll thank yourself later when you're watching the other people in the lecture struggle to keep up. Overall, great professor.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:BIC 1324 - Dr. Wang is a great professor! He is very nice although his teaching techniques are not very helpful. Make sure to read in the class and you'll do well. He is a very lenient grader.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1324 - I have heard mixed reviews about Dr. Wang. But I loved our small group discussions. He LOVES to DOODLE. He is an excellent professor. He truly cares about his students. I don't know why some students were bothered by his accent.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:WC II - I was not impressed by Dr. Wang. Neither his lecture style, nor his insight were anything special. I always dreaded going to small group because I felt like I learned very little during our time. However, he is a nice guy and is very thorough in his grading. He is fair on grading essays, but does not just give points away.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:BIC 1324 - Dr. Wang is a great lecturer. During our small group discussions, he really gets into the topic. He also likes to write on the board in order to illustrate his point. Quite a few kids in my class didn't think his pictures were helpful, but they made sense to me. Some kids also had a problem understanding him because of his accent. I don't know why. I thought his accent was pretty light and understood him well. He is a little slow when it comes to posting grades, but I think that's just because his grading approach is rather thorough. He mainly grades just the major tests and essays and delegates quizzes and completion assignments to his PI, but considering how thorough he is with grades, this approach actually works well for him and the class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:World Cultures II - Dr. Wang was not as great as I had expected either. He is very knowledgeable but I didn't sense as much insight in his lectures. When we went over the texts I felt like most our discussion revolved around the logic of the plot such as connections between symbols, characters, etc. rather than what the text says about the culture or author-- which I think is more what WC is about. He is extremely nice and respectful though, which is always very appreciated. Don't freak out about your research paper, he grades pretty leniently but make sure you follow his advice in consultation.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:World Cultures II - Just as great as a teacher can be! Perfect combination of kindness, mercy and a great sense of humor with sticking to the curriculum. His class is lively and dynamic. He tries to call on everyone to answer questions. So make sure you read before the class. There is a quiz every class, which is awful. But he always makes sure that you understand the macro picture and goes into some awesome, insightful explanations of the texts. Genuinely a nice guy that will help you as much as he can. Seek for his advice on how to write your research paper. Trust this foreign guy!!!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:BIC Cultures II - Wang is not as great a prof. as I expected. He is very nice, however, and always has helpful study sessions for the tests. Class is a bit more professor led than I'd like (in terms of letting the class come up with their own ideas and discuss on their own), but at least we don't go way off topic. As someone else mentioned, notes on the board are random, so while they're helpful, you do have to pay attention to what is said. I don't think the class was as interesting as it could have been, despite some of the colorful characters we had in the class. So bottom line, don't avoid Wang, as he is nice and a good professor, but be aware he's not as great as some seem to make him out to be.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1324 - Wang is AWESOME!! He's a little bit hard to understand with his thick Chinese accent, and his notes on the board are pretty random, but he's extremely brilliant. He has read all of the books on the schedule more than once and has a lot of deep insight into the meaning underneath the text. He's fairly tough on grading, but he's not generally unreasonable. Make sure you speak up in class and don't slack off, or he'll call on you constantly to make sure you're paying attention. Definitely take him for WC2!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1324 - I love Dr. Wang. Basically, I met him before I took the class, he seemed really cool, and I learned a lot in his class. Of course, there is Large Group aka naptime where you won't learn anything, but this man is great at doing what he does. Plus, he made sure that I got an A, which is a commendable trait when most teachers are trying to keep you from getting one. TAKE HIM!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIC: 4374 - Ok I will be honest I figured being in a senior level World Cultures V class I would be swamped with work. But Dr. Wang was majorly easy, you need to keep up with the readings but he does not ask nit picky questions about readings on quizes. There is also a major term paper at the end of the class but he doesn't even care how long it is as long as it is well written and is about something Chinese related.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Chinese 1401 - Prof. Wang is a hilarious person and a great teacher. If you want to learn Chinese, and hear some interesting stories, deffinetly take this class. The worst part of this class is all the characters you have to memorize. He doesn't force you to learn them for the first test, but if you don't you'll get killed later on. Also, ALWAYS keep up with your workbook lessons. It is IMPOSSIBLE to finish 8 lessons in one night. The deceptive part is that he never sets an absolute deadline for hw assignments, so people tend to put it off until the last night, and by then it's too late. Missing class is a really bad idea: you lose points for your participation grade, miss a lot of material, and he pretty much makes you have a 10 min. conversation with him infront of the class. He's really generous when grading. As long as he sees you trying and not skipping or falling asleep in class, you should do fine.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:CHI 1401 - Old Xinny is one of the best professors I ever had. It is not too difficult to get an A, and he even invited our class to his house and cooked us dinner... twice!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Cultures II - This was the only class I did not get an A in last semester and I can't say I wasn't disappointed. I think the hardest thing for me was never knowing why Prof Wang took points off some of my assignments and others he took off none. I guess I had a problem with grade consistency. But Wang is an awesome person to get to know. He laughs a lot and likes you to participate in his class. Just be warned that he tends to monologue a lot, class was usually out a couple minutes late. Good luck!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:WC II - Prof. Wang is definitely a professor and a friend. He's great to talk to and hang out with (he even showed the entire Monkey movie to whoever wanted to come from our class--very interesting stuff) both in and out of class, discussing class stuff or not. He likes giving advice, and his study sessions are just that--simple advice on areas to concentrate on while studying. Nothing elaborate, not developing the essay topics or anything like that, but still helpful and worth visiting before the tests. Cultures II's tests are hard, anyway, but in the standard Cultures format you know (and love/hate) from first semester: multiple choice and essay. The final's like a longer version of the regular tests, not the fun oral exam from WC1. Although he was hard to understand a lot of the time because the acoustics in Alexander 115 (our small group room) are awful, he did try to go over study questions and allow lots of time for our discussion and ideas. It's pretty cool that he's going to be the live-in prof in Alexander next year, and I'd recommend dropping by and talking to him even if you don't end up in his class. He's from China and has lots of awesome stories to tell.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:13241 - He is a great professor that is willing to help you. Always offers study sessions before exams and is not a hard grader, basically know at least a little about what you are talking about in exam essays and other papers and you are guaranteed an A on them. If you stay on his good side by asking him questions about assignments and participating in class discussions, he will go even easier when grading your work.Great person and prof. Thumbs Up.  - Grade In Class:A
