Comments:1440 - Prof Aars is one of my favorite professors at Baylor. That being said, most of his lectures get a little bit redundant because most of your learning is through ZyBooks. His TA's in my semester were really weird with grading, but if you go to his office hours he'll correct any mistakes they made. He's really understanding and wants to make sure you understand all of the material. That being said, if you struggle in the class you need to consider a different major because this class was easy compared to data structures.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CSI1440 - He's okay. Not a great teacher, but a nice guy who will help you if you go to him. Luckily, the assignments, labs and projects are very helpful and teach you everything. If you struggle in this class, honestly just drop compsci and switch to data science or something easier. This class is should be doable as long as you're cut out for computer science and don't procrastinate on homework.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:CSI 1401 - Maybe it is because he was frustrated with the lack of engagement from teaching an online class, but Aars was terrible at responding to my emails, even when I asked to set up an in person meeting. When he did respond to one of my seven emails, it was very disrespectful. A few other friends also received email responses that had the attitude of a 14 year old. The workload is easy and it is not hard at all to get a good grade in the class, I just screwed up on the final.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1440 - Aars is overall a really chill guy and he explains what is needed. He is also very available for office hours if you need help. I think a lot of the bad reviews are from people who weren't ready for the difficulty of computer science classes.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CSI 1440 - Professor Aars clearly cares about all of his students and their success, and I truly enjoyed his course this Fall. I learned a lot more about computer science than I would have with Booth, and understand programming principles in a very multifaceted way. Rather than the formulaic approach Booth takes to computer science, Aars encourages out of the box thinking and isn't a stickler for formatting and structure. There are Zybooks readings every week, projects every week or two which he explains during lecture, labs once a week, and practicums and midterms throughout the year. His office hours are very helpful and flexible, and he drops your lowest lab, reading and project grade, and replaces your lowest practicum with the final. Overall, Aars is chill guy and is pretty understanding with comprehension problems  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1440 - you just have to focus in-class exams are a bit hard so you need to study best dr to take as you need a b at least he is really helpful like you can go to his office hour any time and ask him for anything and he will explain it again in different way until you get it also he anseer email in one day max  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1440 - Matthew Aars is a gatekeeper. He talks about cows and farm animals during his lectures and barely teaches. He will appear sympathetic, but will not help you when it comes to the end besides dropping some projects and labs for everyone (because if he doesn’t nobody would pass). I was almost at the necessary grade needed and he refused to help despite knowing that I had done everything I could to make up for a test i made silly errors on. I made an 85 on the final and the average was a 70 yet I was deemed unworthy to pass. CSI is a total mess at Baylor though so I would recommend switching universities if your really interested in computer science. They will doc you for things like misspelled comments and other things that are trivial. Don’t take him if you get the chance but sadly I believe he is the only intro 2 option.  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:1440 - Dr. Aars was a great professor and appears to be the only professor for this course. He is an extremely fair grader, and his homework assignments are not terribly difficult but are still something you have to put a lot of work into. The “hardest” part of the homework or labs is just knowing what he wants from you. Sometimes the directions are not crystal clear, but he usually goes over the confusion in class or can easily be cleared up with an email. Dr. Aars is pretty funny in class and has a lot of funny stories that he uses in his lectures to prove a point or show why we do something a certain way. Sometimes his lectures can be a little dull, but he will usually tell you beforehand that a topic will be dull. The only major drawback to this class was that it took forever to get grades back on homework. Other than that Dr. Aars does a solid job of teaching the course and is very helpful during office hours when you reach out to him.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CSI 1440 - Professor Aars is a really nice guy. In his lectures, he shows genuine care for his students. As he goes through the lecture, he constantly asks if there are any questions. Often times if there is a question, he will spend several minutes drawing it out and trying to explain it to the best of his ability. This was really great, however sometimes he spent too much time on this, in my opinion, and it cost us time on regular lecture material. His office hours are very helpful. Again he acts like he genuinely cares about his students success. Some of the negative things I would say is that his grading is extremely strict. The CS dean must be advising professors to grade extremely strictly because all of my CS classes have been like this so far. Basically, there were several assignments/projects where the program worked without bugs or memory leaks, yet I would get taken off anywhere from 30 to 50 points of the assignment due to some very minor issue. For example a piece of code that could have been more efficient. Or missing a comment. Small things like this were costing me massive parts of my grade which was unfortunate because it doesn't portray your knowledge at all. Bugs are normal even in the biggest companies in the world. With all that said, he boosted my grade by 3% points at the end of the class which I'm extremely thankful for. Shows me he really does care about his students success. The class in general is quite difficult and I'd say Aars is probably one of your best bets.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:CSI 1440 - Prof. Aars is a solid professor. At first the class is slightly overwhelming with some of the projects and the labs, but it gets easier throughout the year. Aars is a very fair grader and a solid lecturer. Some people get frustrated with his analogies and parables he has while lecturing. While I admit some are hit or miss I actually think most of them helped me understand the content better. Practicums are pretty easy if you study the content and count for a huge portion of your grade. Overall, I wouldn't be worried taking this professor he is fair, very friendly and approachable if you have questions, and if you put in the effort his class is not too difficult.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2020-05-16

Comments:1440 - Professor Aars is one of the coolest professors you will have at Baylor. He is very fair with his grading. Lectures are not always the most engaging or helpful, but a lot of stuff in this course you should learn on your own. The projects and labs are very useful in getting you ready for practicums. Projects took up a lot of time early in the semester but the workload seemed to go down later on. He gives you until Monday at 8am to turn them in, but it is much better if you start on Tuesday or Wednesday.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1440 - I would've dropped this course had I not already dropped another course previously in the semester. This professor ended up being one of the few reasons as to why I changed my major from computer science to electrical and computer engineering. He was never in his office to help students in need. During lecture, there would be 30-40 minutes of anecdotal fun time and 10-20 minutes of what you needed to know for the next program/lab/practicum/test. While this can usually be fixed by teaching yourself from a textbook, the computer science department decided to get rid of the textbook and switch to ZyBooks :) (FaNtAsTiC). ZyBooks was utterly useless compared to a textbook. I gave up about half way through the semester when I noticed my grades in other courses dropping due to how much time and effort I put into this course with no avail. I never thought I would have such a terrible professor at Baylor until I took this man's class.  - Grade In Class:F

Comments:CSI 1440 - I'll be honest with you: Comp Sci here is a crapshoot. You're not gonna get a decent prof for an intro-level class. I excelled in CS in high school and in classes at other colleges, but once I got to the Baylor CS program it went downhill immediately. I planned to do a CS minor, but Aars had other plans. First off, you do homework on code before he even lectures on it. He makes his way through the class incredibly slowly, often going into personal anecdotes to try and explain an easy concept. The workload is insane; at one point we had a homework due Wednesday at class, project due the same morning, and an exam right after that class. I didn't sleep that week. Everyone is correct when they say he does't talk to students. I never received an email back from him, regardless of the question I asked. Perhaps the worst part is that he recommends we use CLion and then uses this horrible upload site for us to upload our code. It is common to get errors on that site but not in CLion, and neither the site nor the professor care to explain to the student what we're doing wrong. If you get a segmentation fault, you get a 50 or a 0 If the code doesn't run, you get a 50 or a 0. I dropped as soon as I got back from spring break, and I have never felt more free. DO NOT TAKE AARS  - Grade In Class:DROP

Comments:1430 - First of all, Professor Aars is an amazing person and I cannot stress that enough. He is really kind and supportive and I would not have passed without his encouragement. The class itself was very difficult (keep in mind that this is coming from a person without any coding experience). There were two programs due each week. To learn the code, READ THE TEXTBOOK. His lectures are more on how to think when approaching coding problems, not how to actually use the code. He also spends a lot of time telling hilarious stories and wonky analogies that sort of kind of pertain to computer science. The exams are over a combination of the book and his lectures, so take notes. The weekly practicums are not bad as long as you know the material; if not, look at the textbook examples for help (which sadly I did not realize until far into the semester). Overall, I really enjoyed this class!  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:3336 - This may be an unpopular opinion, but Prof Aars is my favorite lecturer in the comp sci department. His lecturing style is pretty basic, but effective. I was rarely ever bored with his class. He does get off-topic a lot, but it's actually pretty great because he'll tell funny stories about his personal life, and it seems like we were watching a Monty Python clip every other day. He's a bro, and he understands the struggles of being a student. He'd push back deadlines if we asked nicely, and I don't think the projects were too difficult. I also think the workload was pretty light for an upper-level CSI course. The only thing I really didn't like about the class is that the midterm and final were both 40% of the grade each. And both tests really were bad indicators of how well you knew the material. His grading can also be described as lazy. We'd have a huge project or homework assignment due, and he'd just end up giving everyone 100s for the assignment because he didn't want to grade it. When he does grade, I think he himself is fair, but his TA just wrecked everyone. Overall, Prof Aars is a good lecturer, and if you have the option to take a class with him, I'd definitely do it. NOTE: I took this class for Summer II so my experience may be different than the regular semester.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-08-09

Comments:3336 - This is a weird class. It is honestly pretty easy as long as you do well on the tests. If you bomb a test you are screwed. Each test is worth 40% of the grade. The homework is barely graded while the procts are sometimes graded. The projects can be difficult but most of the time they are easy. There are like 2 projects that are actually pretty hard. Class is really boring and you wont learn anything in it. The book is also pretty terrible. Just read man pages and use Ryans linux tutorial to actually learn the material.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2018-06-16

Comments:CSI 3334 - Data Structures with Aars wasn't too terrible. His projects were definitely doable if you started early (I got a 100 on the project grade), and he was always helpful when I went in and asked for advice if my program failed the upload site. He was a fairly relaxed grader, as he gave you a 100 automatically if you passed the robot test. However, the dude's teaching ability was really lacking. He would mess up trying to explain the algorithms, his lectures seemed unorganized, and a lot of time was wasted on stuff that really didn't seem to matter. I'd take him over Hammerly for this class if you want the better grade, but it's not that much better of an alternative.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2017-12-16

Comments:1440 - If you like being able to communicate with a professor besides immediately after class, do not take Aars. I have to email him 4-5 times just to get a 1 line response. He is the worst professor I have ever had as far as communication and helpfulness.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2017-12-07

Comments:1440 - Matthew Aars is a decent lecturer. Coming out of Intro 1 with Dr. Booth this class was a nice breather. Aars' grading is very generous. The homework is just out of the textbook and isn't too bad. I would recommend reading the textbook ahead of class however, because Aars' is easily distracted and will lecture extensively on cow trivia during the course of the semester.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3336 - I would like to say that I honestly enjoyed the class - prof Aars is a bro and is someone worth getting to know. On the other hand, the tests suck and the workload is pretty heavy. I took this course along side three other upper level courses and in hindsight, it wasn't really that bad. Just google the hell out of everything and make sure to test your code for all cases, especially invalid input. I liked the class, as I had not used Linux before. A lot of people talk crap about the course but in reality, students talk crap about almost every course. It's completely doable, just remember that EVERYTHING he mentions could be on the test - and bash commands (which are only the first fourth of the course) are on EVERY exam. Kill the exams and you'll have a good grade, and be prepared to spend an entire evening on each homework and programming assignment. If you talk to him consistently, you can find out what grades he's gonna drop at the end of the course.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2017-07-05

Comments:3336 - An extremely useless class. As an avid note taker, I tend to write down almost everything my professors say, and half of my notebook pages were doodles. Honestly I would've done just as well not going to class and being given all the assignments (aka prepare to learn via Stackoverflow). The only worthwhile classes were the ones where we learned the random trivia that popped up on the exams and when we got our graded assignments back. Other than that it was life stories, soap box talks, reading man pages, and elementary coding examples. But he's pretty lenient on grading and moving due dates. And the last couple of weeks you actually learn some cool new things. Nice guy, horrible class.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2017-05-09

Comments:3336 - I had Aars for Intro 2 and I thought he was great, he was much more lively than Booth and I still understood the material, but Systems Programming is a different ball game. I'm really not sure what the purpose of this class is because there is no material you can't teach yourself, it's literally just learning bash and C, it feels like a condensed Intro 1/2 but in a different language. He didn't post any grades the entire semester which was extremely frustrating, and we didn't get to keep our tests. The tests are fairly random, on the second exam we had been working with C for about six weeks and he made half the exam bash commands with no warning. Half the time we'd waste about 30-45 minutes of class on really basic material or him taking attendance and looking at homework. I don't feel like this class was necessary whatsoever in the degree plan and Aars isn't organized or helpful enough to teach anything at a higher level than Intro 2, it seems. I was really excited to have him this semester but it was just a disappointment. He isn't even close to being a bad professor relative to some of the others in the department, so don't be scared of his classes, but expect to be underwhelmed.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2016-12-15

Comments:1440 - An exceedingly average professor. Course is taught at a very slow pace. He can struggle with explaining some fairly important things, your book is your friend in this course. As always, start your programs early. Tests are a complete joke, way too easy, practicum usually can be finished in 20 minutes.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2016-03-02

Comments:CSI 1440 - I truly appreciate Aars. He is truly the reason why I am still a computer science major to this day. Coming out of 1430 with an easy A, I thought my previous knowledge of programming would carry me through this class. However, that was not the case. I've cried in his office, i've struggled in his class, and Aars made it truly better by supporting my decision to stay a compSci major and supporting my grade. All of a sudden, I started to get 100s on assignments, and things got truly better.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2015-11-02

Comments:CSI 1430 - Entering intro 1, I had a decent amount of computer science background. Therefore, the workload/material was extremely easy for me, since I basically just need to relearn code in C++ from java. If you have no comp sci background, DO NOT TAKE HIM, TAKE BOOTH. Aars\'s lectures ramble on and he never really explains the why, just the what. His tests are straightforward and fairly easy and all of your weekly programs count as bonus points on the tests. Overall, not bad terrible, but not fantastic.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2013-02-28

Comments:1430 - Professor Aars is a tricky teacher. I do not recommend taking him as he does not teach well and basically expects you to teach yourself from the book. The assignments are so-so at first but then greatly increase in difficulty. There is even a project at the end where you have to code a computer game which, at first, sounds fun. Then you learn that he hasn't taught anything about coding graphics and you only have two attached documents to work with which are not even explained properly. He did not make me want to continue Computer Science at all.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2012-05-11

Comments:CSI 3301 - If at all possible TAKE him! He's probably the best professor I've had at baylor. This semester the class got split into two, one would have all lecture all the time and the other would be in the computer lab the whole time. I personally hate learning about computers and anything to do with them but Dr. Aars made it so simple and interesting that I actually looked forward to this class. There are 2 test and a final. He gives a review sheet of about 200+ questions but you would benefit SO much from doing it. The questions are directly from it, if its not on there then its not on the test. He is also very willing to help. Just make sure to check blackboard to see when assignments are due. TAKE HIM!  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2012-04-17

Comments:CSI 1430 - Intro 1 - All around average teacher. Knew a good deal of the starting material from high school (knew a bit of Java, pretty similar in some aspects). While he could teach, the class wasn't really boring or engaging either. He would crack jokes occasionally, kind of funny, but not a stand up comedian. The homework was assigned regularly, over the material covered in class, which was also in the book if you ever missed. Tests were part paper (MC, T/F, and writing code segments) part lab practicum. As long as you do well on the homework and the work in lab (lab wasn't bad either), you'll do fine.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2010-11-17

Comments:CSI 1420, 1430 - Teaching: 4/5 - Provides an excellent foundation for the next CSI courses Availability: 5/5 - Always up for questions or help Helpfulness: 4/5 - Pretty much answers all your questions, as long as you're not asking him to write your code for you. Workload: 5/5 - Easy workload. Very little HW. Read the textbook, do the hw, and pay att. and you'll be fine. Least that's what I did and got an A though it was my first time learning a programming language.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2010-09-02

Comments:CSI 1430 - Naturally my comments will be different from most other ratings considering that I took this class during the summer. The professor has an amazing enthusiasm for Computer Science that can be contagious. He is a little vague when he first begins to teach, but one gets used to his abstract and concrete examples as the year moves on. The workload during the actual semester looks fine, but during the summer it can be a pain. With two assignments per week, compared to the average semester of one every week or every other week, this class taken during the summer course can be quite a challenge, especially if you lack the patience to stare at a computer screen for two straight hours at least, knowing the answer is there, just one syntax error, but then again knowing that the computer is too stupid to know what you want to say without telling it directly. The professor can be very helpful on these difficult assignments (if you have mastered problem-solving then omit this sentence) but his advice normally comes subtly, because of his wish for one to understand the material rather than to seek an A and forget their materials bestowed upon them by the professor. He also is very understanding when it comes to the mid and final practicum and knows how stressful it can be to panic over a program that does not work. Professor Aars is a good person, and a slightly worse teacher, but I recommend taking him if you want a thorough introduction to computer knowledge.   - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2009-08-21

Comments:1336 - I despised this class. Boring and quizzes every Thursday for the most part. Professor Aars is an incredibly nice person. Its just that he either returns work late or not at all and he doesn't allow students to keep tests (only two). Never knew what kind of grade I would have in this class until it was posted  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2009-05-14

Comments:1430 - Professor Aars is a great teacher who really sparked my interest in computer science. He could use a little improvement on his teaching method, but I learned all the needed material. He does a good job stressing critical thinking (not to be confused with being unhelpful) which makes some of the homeworks a challenge, but since you only get one every one or two weeks it makes the workload doable. Every time I went in for office hours he was available.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2009-01-11

Comments:CSI 1430 - I do not advise anyone to take this professor unless they only wish to learn the bare minimum or want an easy A. He told too many personal stories for my taste and he returned work extremely late. Good news is that I went and visited him days before the final and he said I had a 71. Somehow, though, I ended up with an A in the class. I'm still not sure if that is a positive or negative...  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2009-01-06

Comments:1420 - Having not experienced any computer science before and this being my first semester at Baylor, this class was a big shock for me. I got behind the first month by not reading any of the textbook - READ THE BOOK if you don't know what you're doing - at least once each chapter. Professor Aars is a great teacher who really cares about the students, but he tries to cater to the people who have already had a lot of experience with computer science, so the people who have no idea what he's joking around about kind of get left behind. The tests are really difficult - this is one class you can't cram for. Each week, there is a lab in which you do an online quiz, which is easy because you can take a practice quiz as many times as you want and learn all of the answers; a written quiz, which covers the chapter we're learning in class and is pretty basic; and a group project in which you do a mathematical problem and then have to design a computer program that does the mathematical problem. It's a tough class, so be ready to study a lot!  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:CSI 1420 - I have no idea how I managed to get an "A" in this course. I worked hard, but honestly, I calculated my grade and it did not look good. Aars is an extremely nice guy, and if you talk to him you will notice he is teaching so he can spend more time with his family. His practicums (in-lab tests) require an extremely firm understanding of the class content, and one can easily watch their grade plummet from a high "A" to a low "B" or even a high "C." This class picks up in difficulty, but Aars will replace your lowest test grade with your final if you can show a considerable amount of improvement from the (very difficult) second test to the final. The labs are easy and you often get out early, but the quizzes are also very difficult. The tests will look just like the quizzes. DO NOT work on the assignments in groups! I cannot stress this enough! Good, efficient students can dig themselves nice holes doing this, and I speak from experience. Do the assignments early and correctly, and the class will be a breeze. Everything you need to complete it is either in the notes or in the book, and as far as the calculation of the grade is concerned, it really is in your hands. You will learn the material, and as I learned, if you show interest and drive Aars will award you with an "A."  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1430 - If you have never taken any computer science before you might get a little confused when Prof Aars starts taking about computer systems, but his lectures are otherwise easy to follow. He's very vague when you ask for help on assignments but they usually are fairly reasonable assignments.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2008-12-12

Comments:1430,1336 - He has been the best professor I've had at Baylor. His tests aren't that hard but that is made up in the homework projects. You learn through the programs and the tests are just to show that you're working on the programs. Excellent humor and very entertaining.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2008-02-13

Comments:1430 - His class might seem fast-paced and a little more difficult if you have not had computer science before. Overall, read the book for the tests and pay attention in class for the programs. Nothing is too difficult  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2008-01-24

Comments:1430 - If you don't know how to program, you should be fine. If you know how to program, AVOID this guy at all costs. For example, instead of using a bunch of single char variables, I used a char array. -10 for that. I handed a flowchart to him about 15 min after class started, -20 for that. Just be careful how well you program around this guy, you might do too well, and start losing points.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2007-10-17

Comments:1430 - This class is pretty easy. Prof. Aars takes a long time explaining things so you have plenty of time to grasp concepts. He isn't a great teacher, but he isn't terrible either.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1430 - HOLY CRAP! Take Aar's immediatley. You'll learn all you need, and he's incredibly realistic with his goals. Nothing above what the class expects, but certainly not below either.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2007-04-13

Comments:1430 - His class is pretty hard if you have no computer science experience. The programming assignments are extremely hard, so make friends with someone who knows what they are doing and can explain it to you and then if you still have quesitons, he is really helpful.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1430 - the main thing about aars is that he expects you to know stuff he hasn't taught yet. i had no computer science background and he expected us to know things he had never talked about before. quizzes in lab- be sure and take a few mins to study before. he likes to make tricky questions so you better know your stuff for the tests. also know how to do it on the test because he'll have a multiple choice over it but then you'll have to prove you know how to do it too. sometimes you will ask him something about a program and he'll make you feel pretty dumb. the programs take some time but there's no other homework. i've heard horrors about boothe though so you can't win.   - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1430 - I had no computer science experience from high school, and I still managed to make an A. I found Aars to be pretty helpful whenever I was just completely lost. Get started on the assignments early, especially if you don't have a lot of experience. His lab assignments were pretty out-there, but you don't get graded on completing a certain number - just participation.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3303 - The man just drinks Dr. Pepper and lets his partner teach us how to search stuff in google the whole semester. He got a nice job cause he doesnt have to do any work. His class doesnt meet the baylor university course description. The man things computer controls this world and ofcourse he only talks big. Comments:1440 - If you enjoyed Comp Sci I (1430), you are going to have fun in this class. He has actually worked in the industry, so he knows exactly what he is talking about. He is the coolest professor I have had so far in Baylor. His labs build upon one another, and by the end of the semester you have some really cool piece of code to take home! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Labs are not the easiest one, but then so is the 1440 class. He may not give out all the info available in 50 minute of class, but stop by his office. You'll be glad. And prepare questions for lecture. He loves answering questions.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1430 - Class is okay. The material is somewhat heavy for a computer newbie. His class is informative class. You cannot rely on his lecture and/or notes only. I highly recommend doing the examples and a few problems in the book. And that should guarantee you an A. Tests are really easy in 1430, unlike 1440.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3334 - Such a great teacher. I wish all professors would be like him. He has such a passion for teaching and he goes out of his way to help you. His tests are very straightforward and the projects are quite large, but nothing beyond what the class asks you to accomplish. If you have the chance to take Aars, DO IT!!!! DO NOT TAKE HAMERLY!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1440 - If you want to learn anything don't take class with this Guy! He doesn't know how to teach and just goes through the material very briefly. The Practicums are insane and are tested over sporadic materials. His review session are horrible. For the final he said to review chapters 10-18 (which is the entire semester) and briefly went over a few points. The finals are always a surpise and he says he gives to much information by telling us it will be over one of 5 chapters, I HIGHLY recommend not taking class with him if you want to keep your GPA up. One good thing about him is he is a funny guy, if you don't mind killing your GPA and just watching him goof off then enjoy the class.  - Grade In Class:D

Comments:1440 - A bit on the easy side. Well, actually a lot. If you're a CS major, I highly suggest you DO NOT take him. Just buy the textbook (very good) and learn from that. You will not learn much in that class. No hw given, no quizzes. Just coding projects and labs.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3331 - I had him for intro to data structures and survey of programming. He kinda teaches in class, but he is a GREAT guy. If you stop by his office, he will help you make the grade you want.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:Comp sci 1 - Coolest guy in the world, he knows what he is talking about. Easy A, he isn't trying to make the course tough. Take this class to learn your material and get an A.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:NICEST GUY IN THE WORLD! So nice I feel guilty writing this. Very helpful outside of class. But God just didnt gift him with teaching.

Comments:Take Booth, Aars teaching style seems like he is learning it along with you, the student

Comments:his teaching consists of random cutting and pasting on the projector, pretending he IS the varriables, and not even showing up to lab
